@EnnAndJay

Any prizes involved *@PrincessNutNuts*?

Thankfully we've fully prepared for a virtual Christmas - all shopping done, all (wrapped) presents already exchanged, Zoom quizzes and games sorted.

I'd like to say I feel sorry for Joe Public who'll end up having to scurry about in the bottom of the freezer for their Christmas dinner after all their plans get dashed, but I don't.

You are very depressing prizes for people being harmed, sounds great, but you seem to be enjoying it all for some reason Confused

I don't understand why people are raging? Who are you angry with? A virus?

Work from home if you can, masks in more places and vaccine passes for large venues. Its not full lockdown. Omicron appears currently to be a milder variant but its yet to hit the older generation and those most vulnerable.

We knew there was unlikely to be just one wave of covid - this could go on for some time. I personally think we will need to start seeing this as flu but I'm isolating for 10 days on my own having tested positive - and I wouldn't dream of risking giving my 92 yr old Dad covid. I've had to cancel going to a family funeral today and lots of other things.

@rrhuth

Why have so many people who have already had two jabs turned into anti-vax batshit types now?

Maybe because not everyone with concerns is 'antivax batshit'?

When I can get an AZ or Novavax booster, I will. I'm not comfortable with mRNA vaccines right now. I know several others in the same situation.

@the80sweregreat

Whitty said that just two jabs might not be enough to evade the new variant
If people are not going to get the booster , then we might be fucked ?
.

Perhaps. I think the more concerning problem is the number of unvaccinated people in hospitals. There’s no incentive to get jabbed.

I’m in a vaccine trial, I’ve had 5 jabs, so nobody can accuse me of being anti-vax, but I’m very very reluctant to have my next jab which will be Pfizer after Xmas because of the horrendous reaction I had to it first time.

Doubling time of two days = 90000 cases of Omicron in two weeks time.

And they're doing fuck all to stop it.

Remember when they said we would be having over 100,000 cases a day. Never happened.

Omicron is significantly more transmissible than Delta.

Remember the doubling time will be quicker because the testing for omnicon has been condensed. A lot of the cases would have been found earlier if they were looking for it and potentially the increase curve would have been smoother.

Anti-vax because someone doesn't want jab after jab when it makes zero difference to what you can do Hmm

Why, just out of interest?

Sorry, haven't RTFT but is there any info on how vaccine passports will apply to under 16s who haven't been offered two jabs and can't use the NHS app?

@HereComesTheSun12

Don't go to work but do go to the works party...

Even Boris looks puzzled by the nonsense he's spouting.

Totally.

@toomuchlaundry

Remember your actions can harm others. I know the Government don’t care about other people but I don’t want to stoop to their level.

If cases are rising it’s going to impact anyone who needs hospital treatment not just COVID patients. Not just because we don’t have the beds but staff will be off sick. I’m not going to stick two fingers at the Government and risk my elderly mum’s health. More cases will mean visiting restrictions in care homes, something else I wouldn’t want.

Boris can do one but unfortunately COVID isn’t going away and we need to keep cases at a reasonable level so we can live with it, but we are not there yet

^^ This. I work in a school (non-classroom staff) so no social distancing, no masks until recently, groaning about staff needing to go out during the day to get 2nd vacc now boosters.

I have a secondary school aged child and an elderly parent living independently at their home. I haven't done anything extra - eg socially at restaurants, theatres etc. Last month I was just beginning to get more confident - so began to arrange a few things. (many of which are already cancelled by the organisers).

I saw a good friend yesterday. Her child was having a major operation a couple of weeks ago. Major - removal of a tumour. She's been in bits. So we met carefully - the op was cancelled - they have just retired - went out for a retirement bash caught COVID and is in hospital (despite double jabbed etc), but not for the op. That is cancelled indefinitely until the DC is strong enough.

So despite Boris and all the fucking shittery - we do need to keep going supporting each other and our communities.
