Mine is supposed to be on the 17th.. a big gathering with all staff in a hall, food and drinks and dancing and partying. Also casino tables and no doubt a lot of people sharing the same air closely with no masks and lots of contact, hugging etc.

Is this right? I feel uneasy about it and surprised it's not been cancelled yet..

Is yours going ahead/been cancelled?

Thanks.

@SweetBabyCheeses99

Here’s an idea OP - its not compulsory so if it makes you uncomfortable then maybe just don’t go? Why do you have to be in favour of destroying everyone else’s fun because of your fear?
This is pretty much my opinion too.

Ours is next Friday. Can't wait. Hopefully be throwing myself around the revolving dancefloor in Popworld by about 1am.

MackenCheese · 06/12/2021 21:12

Ours was cancelled. Should've been 8th December

Porfre · 06/12/2021 21:15

Mine was last Friday.
Posh hotel/ restaurant.

It was great!!!

Ilikecheeseontoast · 06/12/2021 21:18

Yes a big party with loads of people, food dancing, DJ, free bar etc, no masks. It was quite surreal tbh!

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 06/12/2021 21:58

No. Was planned for 10th, but was cancelled this week. School - nearly all staff were planning on going - so wouldn't be ideal for us to all be out with covid in the last week when we've cancelled school discos and nativities etc.

Lots of us have had it recently though, so are going to go out anyway.

toomuchlaundry · 06/12/2021 22:26

@How2Help sounds like yours will be interesting!

JaceLancs · 06/12/2021 22:26

Ours is going ahead - lunch for a small group of us in a spacious restaurant

Branster · 06/12/2021 22:29

Going ahead as planned. In fact on my way back home from one now. I work for different companies. Going to another one tomorrow night. Christmas meals at restaurants with various groups of friends this and next week still on. DH's work do still on for next week.
In fact, I haven't heard anyone suggesting to cancel or postpone. Vast majority of people are double vaccinated in my work connections largely younger teams but a few over 50s who I imagine might have had a booster by now.
Absolutely nobody I know is even considering to pull out.
At the same time , everyone is free not to join if they are concerned and I understand some might feel uncertain.

PieMistee · 06/12/2021 22:29

We had ours on Saturday 3 out of 13 have tested fucking positive. I'm lateral flowing every day and have everything crossed!

toomuchlaundry · 06/12/2021 22:38

@Branster I hope you don't turn out to be a super spreader!

Fruitygal · 06/12/2021 23:03

@PieMistee go snd have a PCR tomorrow - lateral flow not particularly accurate until you are super infectious

PrayingForChristmas · 07/12/2021 01:07

So the whole company goes out.
All school stuff or a team of district nurses for example,
Then one gets a positive test and its Omicron
So every person there has to isolate for 10 days!?!
Thats going to cause a little bit of disruption

PrayingForChristmas · 07/12/2021 01:08

If peoples work night out is more important than spending Christmas with their wider family (CEV, Elder members etc)
Then go for it

immersivereader · 07/12/2021 01:09

Mine is a lunch in Dec 22. I'm not going, cba

immersivereader · 07/12/2021 01:10

I'm busty too

If anyone is worried, they don't have to go. I'm not worried about it.

Well don't go if you don't like it 😂
LolaLouLou · 07/12/2021 05:40

Still going ahead.

Team Christmas Lunch with 8 people. I think if it was a dinner, drink and dance sort of party I would probably decline happily using covid as an excuse because that really isn't my thing, but I can't wait for my Christmas Lunch.

toomuchlaundry · 07/12/2021 07:32

Do you get paid if you have to isolate @Waxonwaxoff0?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 07/12/2021 07:59

@toomuchlaundry

Do you get paid if you have to isolate *@Waxonwaxoff0*?
No. But I'm off work for 13 days over Christmas as it's standard in my industry.
PieMistee · 07/12/2021 08:31

@Fruitygal thanks I've booked one in!

BunsyGirl · 07/12/2021 13:34

Mine has now been cancelled.

Realitea · 07/12/2021 15:18

Mine’s going ahead but I don’t feel comfortable going. It can take two weeks for symptoms to show and it’s too close to Christmas Day. Also I haven’t had my booster yet and I’d rather have that first. Dh is going to his though which kind of makes my attempts at staying covid free a bit useless! If he gets it, I’m bound to get it too.

Crunchymum · 07/12/2021 15:28

I am not going to my team do as I am booked off that day.

I do have a gathering planned for 18th, it is 6 of us [friends] from different households. Not sure it will end up going ahead.

None of us have massive plans for Xmas (IE we aren't traveling etc) but we all have young kids and I imagine none of us will want to be faced with a potential 10 day isolation over the festive period.

gersteddybears · 07/12/2021 15:36

Well my sisters has just been last wkend and they all have the covid variant. Every single person that went around 20 has tested positive. It's also the new variant so anyone that's been in contact with them has isolate too for 10days 😵

Thankfully I cldnt be bothered going to mine and now I'm very glad I said no. It's still going ahead it's around 30-40 ppl from our area of the company but it's a meal with drinks and dj/party after so there will be other companies there mingling in.
