Mine is supposed to be on the 17th.. a big gathering with all staff in a hall, food and drinks and dancing and partying. Also casino tables and no doubt a lot of people sharing the same air closely with no masks and lots of contact, hugging etc.

Is this right? I feel uneasy about it and surprised it's not been cancelled yet..

Is yours going ahead/been cancelled?

Thanks.

Ours is still on but i'm not going. Not risking have to isolate, have 2 team lunches though & am going to them.

Donatella · 06/12/2021 17:56

Ours is still on so far, I think there are 100 going, we have exclusive use of the venue, which is at 50% capacity, tables 2m apart, everyone asked to do a lateral flow on the day. So as safe as we can make it, they are hoping they don't get told by the powers that be to cancel as we won't get refunded by the venue if we do (NHS, organised by work but obviously not funded by them).

MissyB1 · 06/12/2021 17:59

Ours is on. Primary school staff, I think there’s about 20 of us going, it’s a lunch in a large busy restaurant, there will be other parties there. I never wanted to go in the first place (was press ganged 🙄) so I’m tempted to pull out now.

NeverForgetYourDreams · 06/12/2021 18:03

@elQuintoConyo

Drinks and tapas at 8, we'll probably be home by 10'30. There are 5 of us + boss. I'm quite looking forward to it, and I don't think it'll be cancelled.
Us too. 8 of us for a pub meal and a drink. Back by 11
Marimaur · 06/12/2021 18:13

Ours is 5 people at a nice restaurant in London, we were talking today about moving it to Spring,

Barton10 · 06/12/2021 18:17

Ours is going ahead but lots of people aren’t going. It’s on the 17th with around 150 people. I have declined as I don’t want to risk catching anything a week before Christmas or pass it to my elderly parents.

Scottishgirl85 · 06/12/2021 18:21

We're not even back in office yet, so no parties. Almost 2 years since I've seen my colleagues!
And I work for big pharma, one of the vaccine makers ;-)

littlepeas · 06/12/2021 18:24

Ours was Friday and went ahead. Only 10 of us - meal and drinks afterwards.

Kenworthington · 06/12/2021 18:24

Yes- but it’s only four of us- the whole company thing has been cancelled for second year running.

SweetBabyCheeses99 · 06/12/2021 18:29

Here’s an idea OP - its not compulsory so if it makes you uncomfortable then maybe just don’t go? Why do you have to be in favour of destroying everyone else’s fun because of your fear?

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 06/12/2021 18:32

I work across three teams:

  • one do has been cancelled
  • one do was never organised
  • one do is currently going ahead, but I Susie think it will be cancelled.
wineislife21 · 06/12/2021 18:32

@SweetBabyCheeses99 wow you're so right!! Thank god you wrote that on here...

SandandSplashes · 06/12/2021 18:33

We had ours this weekend. 200+ in a grand hall, top DJ, free bar, posh catering company.
There will be lots of smaller departmental nights out in the run up to Christmas.

bluechameleon · 06/12/2021 18:35

I work in a school. There are drinks and mince pies outdoors for the whole staff, then different departments are organising their own things, like bowling or the pub.

musicalfrog · 06/12/2021 18:36

If Omicron is proven to not be putting people in hospital I'm hoping they'll drop the 10 days isolation rule ASAP.

I don't want to miss my Christmas party!!

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 06/12/2021 18:49

I’m not sure it will be enough to say it’s not more dangerous if it is shown to be more transmissible. The more people who get it, the more risk hospitalisation.
Tequilamockinbird · 06/12/2021 18:54

Ours has just been cancelled. I'm pleased as I was going to pull out anyway. Too close to Christmas to risk isolation, and also potentially passing to elderly relatives etc

SivvyPlath · 06/12/2021 18:54

@SandPerson

If your company go ahead OP They are mad!
Why lmao?
Cheesymonster · 06/12/2021 18:59

Ours is going ahead - a meal and dancing in a massive venue, staff of 750+ but I’m not sure how many will actually go. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was cancelled. I’m not going to go as I’m ill with covid atm.

Emerald76360 · 06/12/2021 18:59

Our party(care home) has been cancelled. Understandable. Already short staffed so they can't risk it..

HelplesslyHoping · 06/12/2021 19:15

Ours was supposed to be in a massive hall rented out just for the company, with social distancing and masks but they still cancelled it. No one is sad about it Grin

FrownedUpon · 06/12/2021 19:17

Ours is cancelled thank goodness. No one wants to be ill for Christmas.

ThePoisonousMushroom · 06/12/2021 19:20

Just checking… people do realise they can say no to Christmas parties, don’t they?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 06/12/2021 19:21

We don't have an official one, but there's an unofficial pub night out next weekend and it's going ahead.
