Mine is supposed to be on the 17th.. a big gathering with all staff in a hall, food and drinks and dancing and partying. Also casino tables and no doubt a lot of people sharing the same air closely with no masks and lots of contact, hugging etc.

Is this right? I feel uneasy about it and surprised it's not been cancelled yet..

Is yours going ahead/been cancelled?

Thanks.

We never even planned one this year as didn't think there was any point.

If there was one, I wouldn't be going - but then I don't like them anyway.

Glad to be of service 👍

Ours is Wednesday. In a club as per pre covid hired by the company. 150ish people.

We have to do lateral flows morning if and temperature checks on entry. All in the office during the day and have to wear masks but then can take them off when we get there which baffles me a bit

RoseJam · 06/12/2021 19:54

A company wide party and my smaller team party (15) - both cancelled. Many people have pulled out due to having coughs/colds themselves.

Frazzled2207 · 06/12/2021 19:55

Postponed until February

MushMonster · 06/12/2021 19:56

All going ahead here so far.
I am looking forward to going out. I do not care where or to do whar, just out of home-work, work-home would do!
We have been going to the city centre, games arcade and cafes as a family, but no many restaurants and pubs. So word party is a welcome change.
I do understand not wanting to go! Numbers of cases are going up again, and we got a new variant again! It is like copy cut last year. But, big but, we are vaccinated! Much lesser of a risk now!

toomuchlaundry · 06/12/2021 19:57

@SweetBabyCheeses99 maybe the OP doesn’t want to be the only member of staff working when the party attendees are isolating. Or they don’t want a huge spike in cases and further restrictions

Mummyme87 · 06/12/2021 19:57

All going ahead so far, 16th. It’s an NHS department and we have hired out a function room in a pub

tweezerman · 06/12/2021 19:58

Ours was 350 people from all over the country. It's been cancelled which is wise.

avocadotofu · 06/12/2021 19:59

Ours was cancelled because we were asked whether we wanted it to go ahead only one person said yes.

BunsyGirl · 06/12/2021 20:00

Ours is going ahead on 16th. Usually over 600 people attend. No idea how many have accepted this year. I have declined. Lots of people who did accept have pulled out.

Wizzbangfizz · 06/12/2021 20:06

Coming home from my first of 3 our office is having this week! All in packed busy city centre bars and restaurants...

Wizzbangfizz · 06/12/2021 20:09

Oh and if you are pinged and double vaxxed you don't need to isolate do you? Just test?

Abraxan · 06/12/2021 20:17

Ours was Friday and went ahead.
As did DH's, on the same night.

Re mine - we mix in close contact with hundreds of children every day, and we know we have several in where parents and/or siblings are covid positive. So, tbh, having a work get together with the same adults I see every day felt pretty low risk re covid, when compared to every day at school anyway.

RaininSummer · 06/12/2021 20:22

We have a meal tomorrow but only about 12 of us I think.

Abraxan · 06/12/2021 20:23

@wineislife21

Am I right in thinking that if someone has covid (Omicron only?) at the party, that we'd all have to isolate for 10 days? Leading us to the 27th x
Not necessarily.

You'd only have to isolate if you are unvaccinated, or if it was the Omicron variant.

Any other variant and you don't need to SI.
Fully vaccinated and under 18y6m don't need to SI.

Blupblup · 06/12/2021 20:27

At the moment ours is (this weekend). I'm not attending though, I'm still recovering from covid and don't have the energy.

How2Help · 06/12/2021 20:42

Just checking… people do realise they can say no to Christmas parties, don’t they?

Three line whip for ours. More than 100 attending from all over the UK plus some overseas head office bods. We have three days of meetings then a big meal on the first night and big party on the last night. Attendance is definitely expected. Still going ahead Tue-Thu next week. People organising it think anyone with worries is an idiot. People with worries are upset at being called idiots. I think sparks will fly after a few drinks as tensions are high.

FeedMeSantiago · 06/12/2021 20:45

My team's do was always going to be virtual as some colleagues are still working 100% from home for health reasons.

We don't have company ones as we're public sector so in normal times each team goes to a restaurant and pays for their own.

JohnNutLips · 06/12/2021 20:46

Ours was last week - I didn’t go. We’re still not back in the office properly due to social distancing being in place… but they were happy to fund 600 people getting pissed up and falling over each other 🤨

irregularegular · 06/12/2021 21:00

So far yes it is. Big sit down black tie dinner. The disco that normally takes place afterwards is not planned for this year.

irregularegular · 06/12/2021 21:01

Definitely no expectation to attend. We were going to go but have now declined as we have an invite for small do with friends which we have decided to attend instead.

DomingoinLittleOakley · 06/12/2021 21:02

Ours is tomorrow - potentially upwards of 300 people (although I don;t know how many have actually said they are going), fancy schmancy thing in central London. Champagne reception, 3 course dinner, dancing.

Unfortunately, I'm busty tomorrow.

DomingoinLittleOakley · 06/12/2021 21:03

busy. I'm busy tomorrow Blush
