Wiped out after covid booster

Has anyone else felt wiped out after their covid booster? I had it 6 days ago now and am still exhausted. I napped for an hour both afternoons this weekend! I had the usual sore arm and felt very achey the day after, but am wondering if this fatigue is connected. I've had Pfizer every time and am in my 40s (healthcare worker so testing weekly and def not covid)

Is moderna better than pfeixer is modena the one that works in all different way.
Moderna and Pfizer are both mRNA vaccines, and work in a similar way to each other.

Me!

Pfizer for all shots. First two - nada. Third?

My neck, shoulders and back - ridgid like a board and so painful.
Freezing cold.
Extreme nausea.
Very sore hands - to open and close.
A headache the likes of which I have never experienced and hope to never have again.
Extreme fatigue.
Extreme reaction on the injection site.
Feeling better now, three days out but I was seriously floored.

SerenTarot · 09/12/2021 02:53

Had mine on Sunday and no issues at all other than a sore arm.

I was also the remains of a nasty cold when I had it done but after checking it was ok to proceed, I decided to go for it as it would be weeks before I could get another appointment and it would be at a location even further away.

I was naturally anxious because of being ill for two weeks' prior but the jab did not affect me in any way.

I had quite bad symptoms for a good couple of weeks after first AZ, daily headaches mainly. And v tied with it. Second was I bit under the weather for a couple of days.

But I now know ive been peri menopausal and my body has had any excuse to be rubbish! now on hrt and feeling a difference so hoping it won't be as bad. Obviously not had Pfizer before.

Someone I know had bad reactions to each Pfizer. Lasted about 3days each time

slobberydog · 09/12/2021 06:41

Frist two AZ. Booster was Moderna. me and my sister were floored for two days. Chills, aches, headache and so so sore arm. Early nights and paracetamol.

Has anyone had a nasty reaction to AZ but no or only mild symptoms after their Pfizer/Moderna booster?

I’m very grateful we have the vaccines, but I do hope they are working to minimise side effects on future versions. My first AZ was so bad I took two PCR tests. I then convinced myself I must have picked some sort of norovirus type bug up at the vaccination centre, until I had the same (though thankfully milder and shorter-lived) symptoms with the second.

My parents reacted much more to AZ than their Pfizer booster.

Most of my friends and family have had Pfizer or Moderna boosters now (am in the US) and no one’s had much of a reaction.

Both my DDs had their booster the day before a final exam and were fine.

MakingTheBestOfIt · 10/12/2021 08:37

Thanks @ZZTopGuitarSolo, that’s hopeful. My teenaged DS had Pfizer for his first and only jab and had only mild fluey symptoms, so I’m telling myself that’s got to be a good omen.

I shall be planning for the worst, but hoping for the best!

morticiamarkle · 10/12/2021 15:49

Gosh. All your vaccines sound worse than my actual covid.

I believe the Moderna has 3x more mRNA material than Pfizer, CDC research shows its slight more effective as a booster than Pfizer BUT these tests have been done on all 3 vaxx being an mRNA one (US hasn't approved AZ)

Its over time that matters and thats not known yet.

I had Moderna, felt bit sick and achy for 2 days, then fine.

vera99 · 10/12/2021 16:17

Got my Pfizer after 2 AZ yesterday came on strong about 4 hours ago - aching arm - extreme fatigue and a constant heavy feeling.

freshcarnation · 10/12/2021 17:47

I had AZ for first two jabs and was ill for a week after both. Moderna for booster and nothing.

WarriorN · 11/12/2021 06:58

@MakingTheBestOfIt I had moderna booster yesterday lunch time. Unless I'm still to be hit, other than an achey arm, I'm fine ...

First AZ was like a version of mini long Covid that lasted 5 weeks. Two weeks of daily headaches. But I didn't rest and "powered through" and I also think I caught a mild cold ten days before. Second was feeling headaches and yuck for 3 days.

I think I felt slightly odd yesterday evening. Not much appetite. I'd read to drink loads and take paracetamol which I did.

I'm also now on hrt and do wonder if that's helped?!

WarriorN · 11/12/2021 07:00

mild cold the day before.

Also both jabs were on first day of my period and extreme fatigue and joint pain at that time for two week is what's been the main reason for hrt. I think my oestrogen has been v low then.

DontDoThatGeorge · 11/12/2021 07:04

I had 2x AZ ages ago (HCP) then moderna booster. Didn't make me feel ill but I have never been so tired. I was absolutely exhausted and dragging myself about doing the essentials only. It lasted a month. It was only when I felt better I realised how awful it had been. But I am fine now.

RumHoney · 11/12/2021 07:07

No reaction to 2 X AZ. I had a moderna booster yesterday and this morning my arm is sore but I don't feel too bad otherwise. Maybe a slight headache. I'll see if it hits me later today.

WarriorN · 11/12/2021 07:16

That's interesting. Similar to my first AZ.

So strange how we are all different.

Will say the several staff members who've caught it in the last week at school are really quite poorly. All under 35 or in 20s. "Only" flu but that's in fairly recently double jabbed younger ages.

We also have a member of staff who now seems to be heading towards long Covid. Still off after a month. I'm not sure if she managed to get her booster. So these boosters are so important.

Xion · 11/12/2021 10:10

I am dreading my booster on Monday looking at some of these comments!

Still better than long covid. I know nurses who have serious heart and lung problems after unvaccinated infections last year.
ajandjjmum · 11/12/2021 10:50

I had no ill effect at all after my booster (Pfizer) - remember @Xion that lots of us post negative experiences, and tend not to post the more positive. Hope you'll be fine.

IndigoC · 11/12/2021 12:30

Moderna booster after two Moderna shots here. Thought I was going to get away with just a sore arm but fever, rapid heartbeat and severe arm pain kicked in during the night.

Very similar to reaction post dose 2, but maybe 60-70% as ferocious.

Sonex · 11/12/2021 12:32

I had zero reaction from Pfizer booster after 2 AZ. First AZ felt really rough.

SedentaryCat · 11/12/2021 14:31

First two were AZ, booster yesterday Moderna. Feel unwell today - fever, shivers, headache, fatigue, muscular aches and pains, and restless legs (bizarrely!).

Had similar after first AZ which lasted almost a week.

DH had his booster yesterday as well. Symptoms similar to mine but no fever.

Joysutty · 11/12/2021 17:36

Everyone does seems to have had some symptoms - mild or left others worse off.

For my booster was given the Moderna as had Pfizer for first 2 and after a week of stiff neck and swollen glands only just back to myself once again.

WarriorN · 12/12/2021 07:47

Work up a bit clammy in the night and took some ibu and paracetamol but feel good this morning.

Not had any of the that horrid heavy fuggy brain fog I had with AZ
