Bets on what Bojo is going to say?!

OP posts:
Underparmummy · 30/11/2021 12:03

DH has been eligible to get one for a week and the next appointment he can get locally is end Dec. Whatevs Boris you fool.

Really hoping he is upbeat about Christmas, can't bear the thought of my mothers wailing and gnashing if not.

SickAndTiredAgain · 30/11/2021 12:03

I don’t think it will be wfh. They’ve been quite careful to not make this seem like a ramping up of restrictions that could lead to lockdown. So I don’t think they’ll want to announce a new measure 4 days after the last ones unless they really really have to. Javid yesterday was saying he hoped the new measures would only last a few weeks - that may be delusional, but to add more restrictions the very next day would be seen as a sign of increasing restrictions to come. And they’ve really wanted it to be seen as “we’re just doing a few things while we gather some more info, and then we’ll review in a few weeks and hopefully this can all go away, no need to panic and Christmas is definitely fine.”

HelplesslyHoping · 30/11/2021 12:03

Hopefully something along the lines of

"Sorry for being a useless pillock, I've arranged a lockdown for 3 weeks before Christmas starting December 1st. Anyone without a mask in shops, busy outdoor spaces or hospitals will be thrown on an island just off Scotland. Everyone can work from home where possible and NHS staff get a 15% pay rise every week until the anti-vaxxers say sorry."

YokoOnosHat · 30/11/2021 12:04

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll

‘Forgive me Forgive me Please… forgive me’

He'll present us with an earnest request: "Baby, can I hold you?" - but in bumbling Latin.

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll puella, possum te habere?
BarefootHippieChick · 30/11/2021 12:06

@PurpleDaisies

I can’t see that anything significant has changed since yesterday. Maybe it will be about how the booster program will work since it seemed to be utter chaos on the nhs booking website yesterday.

It still is today. Too many people panicking about getting their jabs in before Christmas so they can see their families without feeling guilty. I'll wait until after thanks.

JanglyBeads · 30/11/2021 12:08

And this (no Peppa!):

PM to lead Downing Street Covid update at 16:00 GMT
We've just heard that the Downing Street Covid briefing led by Boris Johnson will be held at 16:00 GMT.

The prime minister is due to set out plans for accelerating the deployment of booster jabs in England after it was announced third doses would be offered to all adults to guard against the new Omicron variant.

Whattodo1435 · 30/11/2021 12:08

It's 4pm they just said, discussing booster programme

JanglyBeads · 30/11/2021 12:08

Your ideas on here are much more fun, it has to be said!

freddiethegreat · 30/11/2021 12:10

@Underparmummy my timings are similar, except it was an early Jan booster. However, I now have Covid so can’t have the booster for 28 days anyway, so comes in very handy!

1990butgrey · 30/11/2021 12:11

@HelplesslyHoping hopefully he's arranged a lockdown....?!

BorlandRd · 30/11/2021 12:16

I'm guessing it's going to be 'work at home if you can' at least that's what I am hoping. My work is making us come in 2 days a week, which is fine on the surface, but we've all been staggered so no-one is really in the same office at the same time, so we end up having Teams meetings anyway so it's totally pointless making people come into the office (we are not public facing so there is not that element to consider).

1990butgrey · 30/11/2021 12:17

@BorlandRd unlikely to be that today.

Possibly over the weekend, to start on Monday?

Underparmummy · 30/11/2021 12:25

@freddiethegreat excellent timing for some extra immunity over Xmas!

Chocolatier9 · 30/11/2021 12:28

Oh for heavens sake, it’s like waiting for a level results, just tell us the worst now🙁 all the announcements and moving times about.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 30/11/2021 12:34

@YokoOnosHat

Yes! Too direct and not bumbling enough, though Grin

lunar1 · 30/11/2021 12:35

A work from home order would be announced at 8pm Sunday night, school closures 11pm Monday night-after they all mixed Monday in school. isolation, bubbles and lockdown would be drip fed to the press for three days prior to an announcement. 🤦🏻‍♀️

LizzieSiddal · 30/11/2021 12:37

“Blah blah, blah, blah, bollox, bollox, blah. Stay at home, go to work, Blah, blah,”.

Clarefromwork · 30/11/2021 12:38

Got me thinking now, I think Miss Rabbit would be a Labour supporter - what about daddy Pig?

CactusFlowers · 30/11/2021 12:38

@Welshiefluff

Miss Rabbit and Daddy Pig stepping in for Whitty and Vallence
I’m fairly certain Miss Rabbit could single-handedly deal with covid.
Lockheart · 30/11/2021 12:39

It's not surprising that it's about boosters, really nothing much has changed in the last few days except the JCVI announcement.

Tabbydancer · 30/11/2021 12:39

Judging by the one third of passengers on the tube this morning still not wearing masks - I’d like to think he’ll come up with a way to create a mask enforcing policy (even though he is a horrendous old hypocrite)

DaphneDeloresMoorhead · 30/11/2021 12:40

This will be the content of his speech

Another press conference tonight (30.1.21)
Leftbutcameback · 30/11/2021 12:43

Hmm - 4pm suggests it’s not very important at all so guess it’s just a formal govt announcement of the three month booster gap (I think it was a JCVI one yesterday?)

Leftbutcameback · 30/11/2021 12:44

Should read the current page before I post!!

SickAndTiredAgain · 30/11/2021 12:45

I don’t see how they could. Even if they wanted to, the only way to actually enforce it would be to require people to have essentially a note from the Dr saying they can’t wear one. GPs don’t have time for that. So you either say “everyone wears one, no exceptions” which I’m sure some people would like but I wouldn’t, and I doubt they’d do it after not doing it initially. Or you have to take people at their word, because it’s already hard enough to get a GP appointment without extra people booking them to get a mask exemption certificate.

The only thing they can do is attempt to change attitudes, but I think once masks were removed, any time they are brought back, compliance will be a little bit lower.
