Utterly fed up (covid)

I'm totally fed up. I don't doubt for a second everyone else is. It's now been a couple of years, we've had our jabs... just doesn't seem to be putting us back to normal like we were 'promised'?

It still doesn't seem to change the fact that there is now a new variant and they are not 'ruling' out another lockdown, and right before Christmas also. I worry for my friends and family (and everyone else). My parents are getting on a bit and I think it would break my mums heart if they put us into lockdown again before Christmas like last year.....

How is everyone else feeling?

@MarshaBradyo it’s made no difference at all to our rates up here, so seems daft to introduce it in England

@JesusIsAnyNameFree

I ‘disappeared from another thread about Covid’ what? It’s like having a stalker. Don’t even remember the thread..

Probably out enjoying my wonderful social life. 😀. Didn’t realise I couldn’t disappear off threads now (especially those that go round and round in circles).

Oh please, we were right in the middle of an interesting conversation. I was well into it. Shove your stalker shite, love 😂 your name is pretty memorable.

People do tend to stop answering when they have nothing more of value to add. I quite understand! I am on bed rest though so I was quite gutted.

Northsoutheastwest76 · 29/11/2021 15:09

Err he never said it was irreversible. Boris is a bumbling idiot but he never said that.

Delatron · 29/11/2021 15:12

Ah unfortunately you’re not as memorable @JesusIsAnyNameFree

I think I went out for some selfish social mixing. Sorry I didn’t put my social plans on hold to engage in your endless wittering on about selfish people mixing indoors. Or whatever your point was.

Of course you did, my dear. You're a regular socialite.
JesusIsAnyNameFree · 29/11/2021 15:16

And I never said you were memorable @Delatron. I said your name was. It sounds like a silly transformer my son plays with.

Delatron · 29/11/2021 15:24

@JesusIsAnyNameFree I think when you resort to insults about people’s names you may have lost the argument.

Though it’s still unclear what your argument was. Bed rest must mean you’re spending far more time on here than is healthy. Maybe time for a break?

Northsoutheastwest76 · 29/11/2021 15:28

Totally fed up and think this is an overblown reaction,

The only overblown reaction is people's reaction to some very minor restrictions. I sm no Lockdiwn Lover but a few minor precautions rather thsn waiting for the shit to hut the van like before is prudent and hopefully will prevent more restrictive measures.
Stsmping you feet and saying I won't do it won't help.

I think you lost when you started with the digs and passive aggressiveness as PP pointed out. I just figured that was the level we were sticking to.

Ikr? There's only so much Netflix a woman can take though. At least here I get to communicate with humans! But I understand that this social butterfly needs to fly, so I will need to find other entertainment 🙁

Northsoutheastwest76 · 29/11/2021 15:30

Rushed post. Sorry

Weren't you allowed to bubble up with other households and socialise outside?[/quote]
No.

In lockdown we weren’t allowed to see anyone else outside the household.

After a while when the restrictions lifted slightly we were allowed to see one person outside for exercise.

You aren’t living in the UK?

BonnesVacances · 29/11/2021 15:36

I'm feeling fed up too. DD is CEV and has been practically in lockdown since March 2020. She has been housebound with long Covid and there just doesn't seem to be an end to this. She went to Hobbycraft once when masks were still mandatory but hasn't been able to go anywhere indoors since because it's unsafe for her and it triggers PTSD. I just can't see an end in sight for her tbh. We are stuck in a perpetual circle where we just watch the rest of country try to get a handle on things and then lose all ground by acting like idiots, and then the cycle starts again.

Delatron · 29/11/2021 15:37

Ok @JesusIsAnyNameFree

Just went back through the thread as clearly I have no idea who you are. You firstly quoted me and eyerolled about something. But I’m the passive aggressive one having digs? I think you may have remembered me from the other thread ( no idea which one as I don’t remember you) and wanted to continue your argument.

It’s derailing the thread and probably boring people senseless (it is me).

How is that helpful just because someone disagrees with you?

Why is it necessary to be personal and aggressive?

I'm so sorry that you and your daughter are going through this. You must find it hard to see a positive outcome.

I think the point about vaccination compliance made upthread is a very good one. Javid is saying now that the measures won't be kept in place any longer than necessary which is sensible if the government wants people to engage in the proposed ramped up vaccine programme.

You're quite right, my dear. We shouldn't be derailing yet another thread about how people won't follow restrictions even when necessary to do so. It's terrible manners.

On topic though. This is how viruses work and ignoring this potentially horrible and dangerous turn of events is absolutely ridiculous. What would one hope to achieve by doing so? "It isn't going away" works in both ways here. You can't pretend bad things aren't happening in order to make them go away. If we have bodies piled in hospital corridors, will you seriously still cross your arms and go "nope, I'm not doing it"? How could one even live with being so selfish??

Delatron · 29/11/2021 15:56

We don’t know if it’s a ‘horrible and dangerous’ turn of events. We will find out in a few weeks.

Nobody is refusing to follow any restrictions as the only new restrictions are masks back in shops and on public transport. Fine by me.

What is this illegal, selfish behaviour you talk about?!

Hence my use of the word POTENTIALLY. Christ, I might just watch keeping up with the Kardashians instead.

Lots of people on mumsnet have very clearly stated they won't wear masks and certainly won't follow any other restrictions we may have to put up with.

I haven't used the word illegal yet today. I got out of the meeting where I would have had to use it many times by being on bed rest, thank you, baby Jesus.

userxx · 29/11/2021 16:07

It's like stepping back in time.

So fucking sick to death of the word selfish.

WouldBeGood · 29/11/2021 16:09

Oh, we’re back to the bodies piled up again 🙄

JesusIsAnyNameFree · 29/11/2021 16:11

Yeah, we may be in the near future if this turns out to be as bad as they fear. Reality can be horrific can't it 🤷

swissmodel · 29/11/2021 16:12

If masks would make even a blind bit of difference we would have seen a difference in infection rates between England and the other UK countries. They are utterly useless in the real world.

WheelieBinPrincess · 29/11/2021 16:13

Then why did they run the Nightingale for all of five minutes?

Chasingaftermidnight · 29/11/2021 16:16

If people getting on with their lives, whilst being triple vaccinated causes the NHS to crumble then we may need a new strategy don’t you think? Or you just enjoy endless lockdowns? Let’s not care about people’s livelihoods as long as the precious NHS is safe. Eh? That policy will have lots of support. Well done.

I think that the problem is that the NHS has been starved of funding and run at 99% capacity for two decades. There was no slack in the system for an additional challenge. You’re right that now a new health threat has come along, the NHS needs more capacity (well, it needed that anyway). The only long term solution is a health service that can cope with flu plus Covid plus everything else without dying in a ditch. But unfortunately that can’t be produced overnight.
