I wouldn’t mind Christmas being cancelled. I’d like a year off from it I hate Christmas. Have a huge Christmas every other year maybe.

@Brightmagic has your mum tried booking her jab online? My mum hadn’t been called, but I found I could just book the booster online for her as with the original jabs - you can choose where you want it done.

oh fuck me, I'm almost out of loo roll, and every time there's an announcement from Boris, Costco sells out.

12-15-year-olds have just been added to the main page of the Covid vaccine booking site, but I wasn't able to book yet. I reckon this is what he's going to announce.

@Viviennemary

Christmas might be cancelled. Fingers crossed.

@Viviennemary and @Sparklingbrook. How lovely that you’d see others miserable because it suits you. You don’t have to do Christmas but you'd happily see it forcibly cancelled for others. What nice people you must be Hmm

Apparently the press conference is to discuss plans for winter.

I expect they'll change when winter comes as they'll prove less than adequate, as has happened every other time.

@BrightYellowDaffodil I never said I wanted others to be miserable just that it wouldn’t bother me because I’m not a Christmas fan.
As if I could single handedly stop Christmas anyway. Grin

I'm in Suffolk, no health issues, not a key worker, late 50s and had my booster over a week ago. Was called up by text message
I'm staggered that the booster rollout is so behind in other parts of the UK. Does anyone have any insights on this?

Usual reassurance jabbering ahead of taking the action needed today in 3 weeks time. Cos they never learn and neither do we.

70 year old relative booked in 15 November . We have one centre in the whole of the county. The daffodils will be out before 50 year old folks receive the booster

And the twat be along at some point about Christmas (unless you are an Etonian where you seemingly learn it doesn't apply to you)

@Dontgetyerknicksinatwist

Hopefully to say he’s resigning. Sadly I don’t think it will be that…

This is very accurate.

Last Christmas all over again (and I don’t mean the Wham classic)

Use masks if you feel like it, WFH if you can feel like it/are allowed, stay in or go out and socially distance if you feel like it, usual bullshit. Followed by - Oh we fucked up again in a couple of weeks!

Despite the crippling pressure on the NHS, no one who loves Christmas and being around family will listen to the government "advice" to stay home if that is what it is, after Boris and Carrie ignored the rules and didn't get fined last year.

Then again that's what they want. They WANT to keep us open, collapse the NHS (which they have wanted for decades), fuck everyone over then blame us for not following the rules yet again. Classic Tory get out clause, set us up to fail

@Sparklingbrook But you don’t seem to have much compassion or empathy for those who WOULD mind Christmas being cancelled.

If anything Boris alone is disrespectful.

That’s why I call him Boris. Those of you suggesting it’s matey or cuddly or something - could not be more wrong.

They will say figures are going up but everything's OK, now be good people have a jab, wear a mask and be sensible. He won't implement anything till its last minute and then he'll blame it all on the public. That's it, it's a warning after he told us we could do away with masks and mix in our hundreds. I'm so irritated with the government, and yes I'm x3 jabbed, all my teenagers are jabbed and I wear a mask but many others and don't and he gave them the right to have that choice but will now blame them for doing so

I mean… if you’re not religious you are really under no obligation to ‘do Christmas.’ Presumably people of other views or none do it because they enjoy aspects of it. If you don’t enjoy it just go about the month as any other or take yourself off to a beach somewhere.

Report
Tilltheend99 · 20/10/2021 14:04

Also it’s going to be ridiculously hard to get ‘man on the street’ to follow anything now the gov has so consistently undermined itself on every point.

Weren’t we all lazy for not getting back to work last month?!
