Ooh and the novavax and Moderna (2 of each) are getting the ultimate test right now as ds2 tested positive on sat. So far I’m negative but have a very light rash on my torso which Google tells me can be a symptom. Let’s see what happens.

NHS app has never worked for me, even though I notified my trial site and they promised to look into it and call me when it was resolved 😳

KeepingOnKeepingUp · 08/12/2021 11:36

I had dose 2 of Pfizer yesterday. All very easy at the trial site after last week's fuss. And feel ok today. Dose 1 wiped me out with a sore arm, fever and headache but so far, so good.

Dreamer1989 · 08/12/2021 19:40

Has anyone had Moderna after two novavaxs? Just wondering incase thats what is offered

gazzaconns · 08/12/2021 20:09

I had Moderna (x2) was rough for a couple of days, flu like symptoms including high temperature after the first one. Not nice but not too bad. Glad I got it.

Oh good luck frazzled!! One of my DC had covid a few weeks ago and despite me cosleeping and being kissed, hugged, sneezed and coughed on and me having to clear up diarrhoea, I didn't catch it!! I've also done a long business trip over several days a fortnight ago where I was crammed in with maskless people in planes trains and automobiles and I didn't catch it then either. Maybe novavax is truly brilliant (topped up by 1x moderna at that point!!)

Dreamer1989 · 09/12/2021 10:22

Had my talk with a trial dr, getting booked in shortly for booster only. I am pleased but sad it took all this stress and waiting.

Dreamer1989 · 09/12/2021 12:32

Interesting article from BMJ here - www.bmj.com/content/375/bmj.n2965

Oh that is reassuring. Yeah my ds is all over me too, distancing myself is impossible. It was over a year since I had novavax but perhaps novavax and Moderna is a great combination.

Husband is now coughing unfortunately. But I’m not.

Are we thinking that Novavax last year plus two doses of Pfizer gives good immunity? I'm a little spooked as I've always thought the booster was for when antibodies decline after the vaccine but the "two doses aren't effective" against Omicron unsettles me - are we doubled boosted or double jabbed?

MrsHamlet · 12/12/2021 20:33

Chorley have totally ignored me for months since the news about getting Pfizer came out. I got my first Pfizer in October when the kids at school were jabbed and the second a month later. They read the letter, shrugged, and jabbed me. All 4 are now in the app

Dreamer1989 · 12/12/2021 20:49

I was told by the Dr while consenting for Pfizer booster, that while they cant guarantee it will boost immunity because there is no data, he is sure that it will do. Very reassuring 🙄

Monkeygirl68 · 12/12/2021 20:52

Has anybody seen/heard anything about how effective Novavax is against Omicron? We know that the AZ and Pfizer vaccines are reduced, but how effective is Novavax…..if at all? Does it mean that for those of us who have had 2 doses of Novavax and then a booster have now actually only had one vaccine that works against omicron(the booster dose) if Novavax is not effective at all……in which case we are really, really disadvantaged! ?? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Evenstar · 12/12/2021 21:18

I have been unblinded and had my two doses in May. However I had a first episode of hemiplegic migraine in February 2020 after contracting what is now assumed to be COVID (no testing happening then) and a recurrence after the first dose of Novavax. The trial centre advised me to get advice from my GP and if possible a neurology opinion before getting a booster.

I am not eager to have a third visit to the stroke ward so I have now been waiting a fortnight for my GP to reply to my letter. I feel quite concerned about my current level of protection ☹️ I don’t blame the vaccine, but feel I would have been in the system if I had had NHS approved vaccines.

Evenstar · 12/12/2021 21:20

@Monkeygirl68 that is definitely a concern for me too, we may be worse off than if we had a different vaccine.

Woventabby · 13/12/2021 09:01

I had my 2nd pfizer last week at a trial site hospital, which went super smoothly. My trial team has been very organised, and receptionist/vaccinators at a walk-in centre were aware of the clinical trial volunteers coming in. My 1st pfizer floored me, but there were no side effects apart from a tender arm this time.

Mixed messages and thoughts here! Previously, a pre-omicron time, a doctor advised that I should get only one pfizer as a booster if Novavax is approved before a 2nd pfizer is due. Basically the advice was not to have a 2nd pfizer unnecessarily. Omicron has changed everything. When I had a second pfizer at a walk-in centre last week, a nurse suggested that as I had my Novavax more than a year ago, I should get a booster in 3 months. That will be my 5th Covid jab?!? I thought I would be bursting with immunity by now with 4 excellent Covid jabs. Not sure if I want 5th!

gazzaconns · 13/12/2021 10:25

2x Novavax last year, 2x Placebos this year 2x Moderna July and September this year and a Moderna booster today. Can I go to the Christmas party now?

KeepingOnKeepingUp · 13/12/2021 10:50

It's so hard to know, isn't it? I can't work out if I'm ridiculously over-protected or dangerously under-protected. Either way, I can't do anything more for three months which will give them time to figure it out. But it does make me wonder about Christmas - I was working on the ridiculously over-protected assumption but now I wonder. I think I had Covid back at the start of March last year; had all the symptoms but obviously no testing then. Am going to hope those T cells are doing their job...

Dreamer1989 · 13/12/2021 11:47

I wish id never had this fucking vaccine, I was trying to help science but we have been fucked

QueenOfThorns · 13/12/2021 12:46

I’ve come on to see what other people are doing about boosters, thinking I’d be better to wait 6 months after my 4th jab, so it’s interesting to see that some people are having them already.

My timings and jabs are all the same as yours @gazzaconns, please let us know if you have any side effects this time. I think I’ll try to get myself a Pfizer booster, having had a pretty crappy time with Moderna and the arm thing!

As the booking system is currently buggered, I’ll give it a few days until they’ve ramped up the capacity before trying to book somewhere. This is assuming that we don’t all contract omicron this weekend - my DD has a performance that we really can’t miss, but I’m hoping they’ll cancel and video it instead.

Torvean · 13/12/2021 16:18

Anyone still holding for Novavax?
I finished then HD 2 Pfizer which didn't agree with me.
Novavax still not on paperwork here. So we still have your second interim letter equivalent. SCOTgov are pricks.
Still 0 paperwork for it either.
Maybe I need 2 more of all vaccines to get it. Someone said cause Nonava applied for CMA it takes up yo to 8 weeks. I hope so.
I'm wanting a full Novavax dose plus 2 boosters. Not up for a third.

Dreamer1989 · 13/12/2021 17:32

I didnt think Novavax, even if approved, would be offered here, it was more for countries without much vaccination so far, esp more remote countries as Novavax doesnt need the refridgeration that the others do.

Torvean · 14/12/2021 06:38

I think it will be used here for those who medically cannot get the others. Plus they think it. Ugh entourage vaccine hesitant. Am I @#$% getting a Pfizer booster ever

ItsSnowJokes · 14/12/2021 06:52

I wasn't going to get 2nd Pfizer if novavax was approved before the 8th Jan, but I have decided to bite the bullet and get it done. Will get meds from my gp for the side effects incase they happen (he has offered that). Such a hard decision as I was so ill after Pfizer 1 but want to be protected and I do not want to cancel my July cruise again!
