Current turn around time for NHS PCR?

isitjustlockdown · 29/09/2021 15:58

My DD (18 + double vaccinated)) and I are due to go away for a UK weekend break this weekend, leaving Friday lunchtime.

DD started feeling unwell during this morning and we took her down for a PCR test at a drive in centre this afternoon.

Does anyone have experience of the current turn around times for results?

Her school has a bout of colds at the moment, so fingers crossed it's just that, but obviously we need a definite answer before we can go away.

5 days now without our result for DS.

Bettyboopsboop · 03/10/2021 11:13

Walk in centre in the Yorkshire and Humber area.

DS - 15 hours positive
Me - 20 hours negative
DH- 20 hours negative

Peanutsandchilli · 03/10/2021 11:19

Was delivered 110 hours ago. Still waiting.

pinkpanther84 · 03/10/2021 11:20

My husband did one the other day (Devon) and the results came in 10 hours!

laselvar · 03/10/2021 11:21

London walk in
Test 10am on Saturday
Results 2am on Sunday
So 16 hours, all negative.

Peanutsandchilli · 03/10/2021 16:34

Just to update mine, after 115 hours of waiting, I phoned, and eventually managed to get through to someone at the testing centre who told me the results were negative but they won't send any sort of confirmation unless I want a letter in the post Confused

Rajono · 03/10/2021 20:23

Postal test posted yesterday morning, its been saying that it's at the sorting office since yesterday evening with no change. Hopefully it's an error and it's at the lab

FromTheAshes · 03/10/2021 20:52

Just under 12 hours for me and my daughter, normally the texts come hours apart but they both came through together this time. Both negative.

frenchiemummy92 · 03/10/2021 21:07

Took my youngest for one at dinner time on Thursday, Sunday night now and still no results. No symptoms of Covid but advised to by the nursery because of cases within the school.

Day 6. Confused

Needanewadventure2021 · 04/10/2021 08:59

Same day results for me and my DS. PCR tests 11am yesterday. Results 11.30pm last night

frenchiemummy92 · 04/10/2021 11:36

@ReginaSpaghetti99 what area are you in?

I'm still waiting for DD's. 4 days now and nothing. Not sure why it's taking so long this time. We are in the NE.

We’re South West. I rang 119 again today and they said if we hadn’t heard by now they’d probably lost it, so we did another PCR today.

Hairbrush123 · 04/10/2021 21:58

I’ve taken two PCR tests in the last month and they’ve all come back within 15 hours. First one was at 8:30am and second one was at 13:00. Was quite impressed. I live in the West Midlands.

ScatteredMama82 · 05/10/2021 14:26

DH and DS2 tested yesterday around midday. Had both results in the last hour so 26 hours. I was the same a few weeks ago.

Longdistance · 05/10/2021 14:33

I did a test yesterday at just after 8am, it came back negative at 4am. This is the quickest it has ever come back to me. I’ve waited 3 days before.

WhatsAppHelpPls · 05/10/2021 17:17

How are people tracking their postal test? I’ve seen a few posts on here where people know when their test was delivered to the lab.

Thanks.

You can track it from the barcode that's on the box through royal mail.
WhatsAppHelpPls · 05/10/2021 17:38

Thanks. Unfortunately I didn’t make a note of the barcode 🤦‍♀️

Wigeon · 05/10/2021 18:59

PCR result back today in just under 16 hours from the test, which I thought was pretty good! PCR 7.15pm last night, result 11am this morning.

WhatsAppHelpPls · 05/10/2021 19:02

I sent off 4 postal PCRs yesterday at 4pm and have just received the result for one of them (thankfully negative).

Very impressed with such a quick turnaround and hope to get the other 3 results soon.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 05/10/2021 19:22

Test at Heathrow drive through yesterday at 11am and negative result this morning at 9.20. I have a good old fashioned cold!

disappointed101 · 05/10/2021 20:02

One we gave up on so got another: less than 12 hours
Original test 5 days ☹️ Sw

Frazzled2207 · 05/10/2021 21:12

Am feeling hopeful that ds might make it back to school tomorrow, at least for some of it as test was 10am this morning.

However BIL never got a result from two weeks ago. Officially 'lost'. He went with the positive LFTs (felt rough, daughter was positive) and just isolated anyway.

Question, I did one as well as my DS, in solidarity really and because I also have the same cold - should I expect both to come back immediately the same time or similar? or is it completely random

Icewiththat · 05/10/2021 22:59

SW- tested at 330pm back by email at 1am (hours before text)
