Current turn around time for NHS PCR?

My DD (18 + double vaccinated)) and I are due to go away for a UK weekend break this weekend, leaving Friday lunchtime.

DD started feeling unwell during this morning and we took her down for a PCR test at a drive in centre this afternoon.

Does anyone have experience of the current turn around times for results?

Her school has a bout of colds at the moment, so fingers crossed it's just that, but obviously we need a definite answer before we can go away.

I've had 3 which have been negative and results sent within 24 hours.

I had one on Wednesday at 12:30 and still waiting for a result. South east here.

ChillingReign · 01/10/2021 11:54

@erin48 Have you had your results yet? I had mine the same day and still waiting

erin48 · 01/10/2021 12:11

Nothing yet @ChillingReign ☹️ losing money as I was sent home from work with a temperature and sore throat which has now gone but they won't have me back until I'm negative and can prove it.

Catcheronthesly · 01/10/2021 12:17

I’ve just been for one half an hour ago (west mids) and they said it’s taking 2-3 days at the moment!

thenightsky · 01/10/2021 12:29

DH had one at 8am on Wednesday morning and the results came back at 3pm the same day.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 01/10/2021 12:34

Ds had one at 5.30pm yesterday and we got the result at 10.15am today.
That was at a walk through centre in South Wales. No appointment, we just had to register the test ourselves once we got home.

ChillingReign · 01/10/2021 12:56

@erin48 I think the tests on Weds seem to be taking longe Sad a friend had one on Wed and just got the results through so hopefully we don't have to wait too much longer

erin48 · 01/10/2021 13:10

Fingers crossed @ChillingReign

JanglyBeads · 01/10/2021 13:27

Didn’t the test centre give you an estimate, they usually do?

Sad to say, when I went for a test this morning, admittedly in an area with very high case rates currently, I was told “up to five days”!!

ChillingReign · 01/10/2021 13:36

@erin48 just got mine back so hopefully you won't be long now

erin48 · 01/10/2021 13:54

@ChillingReign hope yours were negative! I'm hoping mine comes soon it's stressing me out 😂

@JanglyBeads they said within 48 hours

ChillingReign · 01/10/2021 14:40

Mine was positive unfortunately. I hope you have a better result than me!

erin48 · 01/10/2021 14:40

Oh no @ChillingReign I hope you get better very soon x

flomp · 01/10/2021 17:38

My 4 year old had a test 9am Wednesday and we are still waiting.. was told 24-48hrs but we’re way past that now. So frustrating.

mrshoho · 01/10/2021 17:50

Wednesday test results for us have now been received!

Becca7910 · 01/10/2021 17:56

6.30 pm test yesterday. Result 2pm today. SW.

erin48 · 01/10/2021 18:06

Still nothing for me from Wednesday lunchtime 😩

MillyMollyMardy · 01/10/2021 19:08

Test at 9.30am on Wednesday, South West drive through, postive result 2am (under 17 hours)

ReginaSpaghetti99 · 01/10/2021 19:21

South West testing centre. We tested Tuesday morning and still waiting. It’s been escalated now but 119 wouldn’t do that before 72 hours.

Tatum1234 · 01/10/2021 19:42

17 hours on Wednesday.

Whitefire · 01/10/2021 20:03

1.30pm Wednesday. Result back 5.20am Thursday.

isitjustlockdown · 01/10/2021 22:04

Finally can through at 12pm today, just in time for us to go (was negative thankfully).

45.5 hours in total from Wednesday afternoon, west London.
