South east, PCR done this am at 08.30 and really really hoping that we get a negative result back before school starts tomorrow Grin

Anyone got any recent times to give me some guidance?

Big permanent test centre, 2 tests done results came in, one around 18hrs, one around 24 hours despite being done at the same time.

Mobile test centre, 1 test done, still waiting result 60+ hours later,

Can’t help wondering if the advantage of driving 1/3 of the distance to the mobile site rather than to the big site is offset by having to wait 3 times longer for the result. 🤨

@Lucythewonderdog

Results can be up to 72 hours actually then we will escalate at 119 but due to pricks re testing or “testing just to be safe” things are getting pushed further and further back and we are now looking at 100 hours. Reap what you sow.
don't worry I won't use NHS option either if i'm desperate for a test result. Up to 72 or 100 is for outliers rather than the median

You do realise @Lucythewonderdog that for contacts of positive cases to actually effectively test and isolate, that the test results need to come back as soon as possible - they’re much less useful after 2-3 days…….then again track and trace haven’t really covered themselves in glory either.

You don’t have to effectively isolate as a contact (in England) if schools or whatever are telling you to isolate that’s on them not test and trace. Testing is getting way overwhelmed with needless tests as seen a few times on this thread.

DD did a test this week in SW - tested at 11am, result at 9pm same day!!

ChequerBoard · 26/09/2021 15:35

DS had a PCR at a drive thru test centre 12:30 last Sunday and we received the result via email at 03:18 on Monday morning.

yodaforpresident · 26/09/2021 15:37

Grin I keep forgetting that the rules keep changing to make the numbers look better. Personally I think they would be better stopping the whole lot as it's a waste of time (given the children of the household no longer have to isolate even if a parent is positive) and if the people working in that test centre were anyway representative, I can see why the test results are taking so long - they made sloths look energetic.

ChequerBoard · 26/09/2021 15:40

@yodaforpresident

Currently 32 hours and counting in the south east. At a drive through - though not sure why it’s called that as we had to administer the test rather than a tester.

What a bizarre comment. It's called a drive through because you drove through in a car.

Of course you self administer the swab - why put staff at unnecessary risk? Why would you swabbjng yourself make it not a drive through?

GorgeousGoldies · 26/09/2021 15:55

Test at drive through last Thursday afternoon - 58 hours (positive)

Two tests yesterday at mobile site - 1 result (negative) after 13 hours, other one, 30 hours and still waiting.

But…after receiving the negative, I did an LFT this morning as felt so rough, and got a very strong positive. I’ll just finish off my self-isolation as if I had it I think.

Badgerstmary · 26/09/2021 16:56

Postal test, waiting still 48hrs.

LutherRalph1 · 26/09/2021 17:10

I was lured into a false sense of security, my DS's took 16 hours last week

Mine is 32 and counting

dottyaboutstripes · 26/09/2021 18:34

LaBrujaPiruja · 26/09/2021 20:54

Nononononoyes · 27/09/2021 06:36
