@RedToothBrush great summary of what to expect Tuesday, thank you.

When you say concerns about things not going quite as well as they should, do you feel this is more to do with cases, deaths or hospitalisations?
I think the expectation / hope was that cases would have levelled off a little more and dropped by the time the schools went back.

Deaths are still linked to cases, albeit the ratio is now a lot lower, but it hasn't gone away.

This is the government document detailing where they modelled the next 8 weeks from 19th July.

Indeed. Voluntary uptake is non existent where I am. You’re definitely in the minority if you choose to wear a mask.

Once this wave peaks how soon are they anticipating the next to start or will we just meander along on the big plateau until things take off again?

We still have priority delivery slots here

Thesandmanishere firstly I think you’re starting to get unnecessarily rude and aggressive, I never implied CEV were frail and bed bound. But you aren’t providing any suggestions about how we as a society move forward just that you would keep disrupting children’s education, penalising those least at risk for the sake of others has to stop.

I have. Did you actually read my post?

The problem is if you shield all CEV again it affects everything Paramedics, NHS, emergency control centres, supermarket workers... so the NHS will be even more overstretched and the ambulance service isn't coping let alone if they lose staff to shielding again Plus the mental health impact People expect the CEV to shield but don't want to wear masks 🤷🏽‍♀️

Exactly what I've been pointing out which OnlyFools doesn't appear to understand. Hmm

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 13/09/2021 16:32

Again I don’t see any solution apart from the limit and punish those that aren’t at great risk ie. like isolating a vaccinated young dr who’s young child may have Covid -
Some people just don’t want to move on and enjoy constant restrictions

MercyBooth · 13/09/2021 17:15

YY @Sunnyfreezesushi Thats why shutting gyms and slimming classes and telling ppl they had to worry about the health of 67 million strangers rather than their own health worked so well. Hmm Hmm

Nobody is being "punished", it's simply that unless community transmission is kept low enough then life grinds to a half because the NHS will be overwhelmed. It is maths FGS Confused

MercyBooth · 13/09/2021 18:29

@StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind Completely agree with your posts.

Agree, though I think if it was 'shield the CEV so everyone else can do everything' then if you had a new cancer diagnosis it would feel very much like a punishment. It's already pretty shit for households with exceptionally vulnerable people (eg the 500,000 who are still, awaiting the admin for their third shot, despite that announcement being nearkym2 weeks ago)

But we're kind of in the swing if it, unwelcome and restrictive though it is. It would be so much worst to hit you at a time when you're already grappling wth difficult news, which is bad enough in ordinary times without adding separation from society
