He'd better not be announcing another bloody lockdown, I'm going on holiday on Saturday!

screwcovid · 11/09/2021 23:04

The goal posts have been moved so many fucking times honestly I have been on through this and can't take much more

mynameiscalypso · 11/09/2021 23:05

DM are reporting that they're going to scrap the need for people coming to the UK to have proof of a negative test and change the Day 2 tests to LFT rather than PCR so it might be something to do with that

screwcovid · 11/09/2021 23:05

Looks like vaccine passports scrapped and booster shots being announced

It's all over the news, he's gonna bring back masks and WFH if shit gets worse, which it will...

A covid winter plan ,,, sounds like a kids story

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 11/09/2021 23:08

@marieantoinehairnet

It's all over the news, he's gonna bring back masks and WFH if shit gets worse, which it will...
No, not WFH. Masks I can cope with if I have to but I can't take it if I have to work from home full time again. It nearly broke me last time so I may well end up handing in my notice if it happens again. I don't mind a couple of days at home but full time is unbearable.
marieantoinehairnet · 11/09/2021 23:09

I'd rather wfh than a shit load of people die unnecessarily

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 11/09/2021 23:11

Well you can, I'll be pushing to go into the office even if I'm the only one there.

marieantoinehairnet · 11/09/2021 23:12

Good for you, each to their own

HummingBeeBox · 11/09/2021 23:17

I will never understand why he chose to use the word irreversible during an unpredictable pandemic situation.

marieantoinehairnet · 11/09/2021 23:18

He's an utter clown that's why, he has no control over this virus, nothing is irreversible.

I'm delighted there's a plan, all those desperate to get back to offices, unmasked, read it and weep

2boysand1princess · 11/09/2021 23:24

Something needs to change. The current plan is obviously not working. Schools have only just resumed so things will only get worse I reckon.
I am in a hotspot area. Just recently lost a colleague to covid. He was double jabbed and no underlying health issues whatsoever. It was devastating to hear he had died. Still can’t believe it. Yesterday we got the news our 36 year old relative is in icu with covid. Once again double jabbed no underlying health conditions. We are in a hotspot, however we won’t be the only ones with high case rates if something doesn’t change.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 11/09/2021 23:26

Can't you understand why some people might want and/or need to get back to the office? There are other issues apart from Covid and not everyone can work from home even if their job can be done remotely. I've never cried so much as when I was working from home full time and I don't intend to end up like that again if I can help if.

BluebellsGreenbells · 11/09/2021 23:26

At some point all those who want to be will be vaccinated.

There’s isn’t anything else the government can do. It’s better now that people are exposed to the virus whilst the vaccine is still fresh.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 11/09/2021 23:27

Apologies @2boysand1princess my reply isn't directed at you - your post wasn't there when I posted mine. I'm sorry to hear about your colleague and I wish your relative well 💐

marieantoinehairnet · 11/09/2021 23:28

Yes I understand, and you can go in, cases like yours have always been fine to go in where I work, if you make a case for it, but to expect everyone else who is perfectly fine working from home to run the gauntlet of risk is unfair.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 11/09/2021 23:31

Unfortunately if Boris says work from home my company will follow the guidance and I'll have to do it regardless. I'll have some serious decisions to make if it happens.

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 11/09/2021 23:33

I'm getting married on Saturday so best not be. And besides that it shouldn't happen anyway

PineappleMojito · 11/09/2021 23:40

Well I won’t be working from home apart from on my admin day. I dare say some in my (mental health) profession will be clamouring to go back and hide behind screens (and I’m not talking about clinically extremely vulnerable here who shouldn’t have to work face to face, I’m talking average Joe and Jane). I’m burned out, quite frankly, don’t think I could take another lockdown with a high intensity caseload, having to work with the most complex and high risk cases because my colleagues who still haven’t returned to the office are quite happy sitting behind screens working with the less difficult ones. I’m having to turn down desperate cases every day in private practice because I’m full to busting. We’ve already got a tsunami of mental health issues to deal with from the past 18 months. Another lockdown will break people.

Boris is the king of unrealistic promises and unworkable plans at best, an outright liar at worst. I don’t believe anything he says at all.

BBC article on this

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-58529158

The numbers are stubbornly high - rolling 7 day deaths is just over 140 and that is a level for concern, as is number of hospital admissions, particularly because the winter virus season hasn't really got going yet

marieantoinehairnet · 11/09/2021 23:51

Really was the worst idea in the world to get everyone back on public transport and into offices at the same time as school go back, and remove any need to isolate for those living with positive cases!
