I haven't been out of my town since march 2020

About 30 minutes maybe. Not bothering with a holiday yet as feel it’s an unnecessary risk and just aids transmission between places.
If it settles next year we will go then but too unknown currently so not booking until closer to the time.

ragged · 22/08/2021 16:51

5 hrs, about 200 miles

drawingbadge · 22/08/2021 16:52

We went from London to Cornwall last year, which took about 5 hours by train. We've also been to Alton Towers, Isle of Wight and done a few seaside day trips (all by train, we are car-free). I would like to travel abroad but don't want the stress of unexpectedly having to quarantine/isolate.

IsItWorthTheHassle · 22/08/2021 16:58

France by train so about 14 hours journey…

cherin · 22/08/2021 18:41

1800Km and return, north coast of Croatia, by car, summer 2020 and current.
Nobody wears masks here, there’s 2 to 6 new cases per day in the region (they don’t test- hence the negligible numbers, ndr), tourism is in full swing, restaurants are all full, half of Germany, Austria and Slovenia seems to be here. There’s a life without Covid, however fleeting the feeling might be…

4 hour drive to see family (horrendous traffic, less than two hours back). 3 hours to drive to the coach and get coach to London.

theDudesmummy · 22/08/2021 19:56

@cherin exactly! Croatia was amazing, such a taste of normality. We missed last year, normally spend every summer there. A real mental health saviour this year.

theDudesmummy · 22/08/2021 19:58

Back in Ireland now but missing Croatia!

We had not been to a restaurant since Feb 2020, went to one every night while away, just wonderful, and yes, all full and had to book tables every time! Now back home, cases are high and back to the rather isolated life...

weegiemum · 22/08/2021 20:03

Been from Glasgow to the Outer Hebrides twice.

wordsareveryunnecessary · 22/08/2021 20:07

Been all over. No fear 👍

NannyAndJohn · 22/08/2021 20:12

~30 minute drive to collect DH from the hospital.

TattyDevine · 22/08/2021 20:12

Husband took the kids to Devon to see his parents

We also drove to Gatwick and went to Greece for 2 weeks. It was great 👍🏻

TheWayTheLightFalls · 22/08/2021 20:15

The arse end of Wales - six hours or so. DH and DD managed a flight to Moscow and back.

Sparklingbrook · 22/08/2021 20:16

So the mystery still remains as to the point of this thread. Confused @MeiganMcSeinna6 hasn't bothered to return and comment or anything.

BunsyGirl · 22/08/2021 20:26

So glad we have travelled abroad. Had a lovely U.K. holiday last summer but nothing beats the kids splashing in the pool all day and eating our dinner outside in the evening.
The pressure of the last 18 months lifted from my shoulders the minute we took off from Heathrow.

HairyToity · 22/08/2021 20:33

About 300 miles (by car). We've all had covid, so don't see the need to live in fear.

SunSeaSurfGin · 22/08/2021 21:15

City break to Birmingham last weekend. So 4/5 hours away

shouldistop · 22/08/2021 21:29

Travelled from Glasgow to Cornwall in June.

Tenerife March 2020
Tenerife Oct 2020
Should’ve been tenerife Dec 2020 but the lab lost my test
Should’ve been March 2021 but boris locked us down

So this year only to lakes about 80 miles and Wakefield 95 miles

We were going to go to s Wales and Glastonbury but couldn’t b bothered if everything was mask here for this, sit there, don’t stand there and so forth

We spend 10 days a fortnight at our caravan near york which has maintained our sanity with lovely days out in ripon york Harrogate Helmsley malton etc

The meadowfest music festival in malton was fabulous and very normal
Despite getting soaked

shewalkslikerihanna · 22/08/2021 22:19

@shouldistop

Wow some drive
I hope weather was good for you

We are still hoping for Tenerife in oct and Dec

Never give in 🤞🏼

shouldistop · 22/08/2021 22:19

@shewalkslikerihanna we stopped half way. It was beautiful.

shewalkslikerihanna · 22/08/2021 22:21

@Sparklingbrook
I find it really encouraging that besides ourselves other people have felt they had to live their lives
Don’t you?

shewalkslikerihanna · 22/08/2021 22:24

Some people just love a good grouch

Believe me I’d have done the same should I stop if we had a driver
I’m finding it very hard now I’m cracking on a bit to be the only driver but I applaud people who are getting out and about

This country needs you 💪
