I haven't been out of my town since march 2020

OP posts:
alloalloallo · 22/08/2021 09:19

2.5 hours each way to my parents a few times

3.5 hours each way to Alton Towers for a long weekend

We were looking at going to Cornwall this summer but left it too late to book accommodation, and the weather has been shite so haven’t bothered

I haven’t been out of my county much, but have been all over for days out, dog walks, restaurants, etc.

I leave my town every day for work, doing my horses, supermarket, and stuff like that

HotPinkTeaSet · 22/08/2021 09:24

4 and a half hour drive for a wedding.

Sparklingbrook · 22/08/2021 09:35

We now have a list of who's travelled where and how long it took. What now? Confused

TheGenealogist · 22/08/2021 10:01

Have been all over because I think I would have gone nuts not leaving my own quiet suburb for 18 months.

We live near Glasgow but parents and inlaws don't, we've travelled 2 hours to visit them, been to Edinburgh several times, Northumberland, Devon on holiday this summer. All over the west of Scotland despite of the plainly ridiculous rule that nobody should leave their local council area.

Not leaving your home town for 18 months isn't anything to be proud of, to be honest. What a dull, insular life.

We make a list, ranking them from "most virtuous" to "wildest super-spreader"?

South Devon from Oxfordshire. It was amazing to have a proper change of scene. Also been to York and Buxton recently.

Maggiesgirl · 22/08/2021 10:07

An hour to DS and DDIL, took DGD home after she came to stay with us just after the end if the first lockdown.

DH has done the trip a fair few times since ( I have chronic pain and driving for long hurts).

Apart from that 35 minutes to a nearby town to get my vaccinations.

exiledfromcornwall · 22/08/2021 10:22

Approx. 7 miles to nearest large town to visit my husband in hospital.

firstimemamma · 22/08/2021 10:22

7 hours in a car for our wedding nearly 200 miles away Grin

PermanentTemporary · 22/08/2021 10:26

About 3 hours - Yorkshire for a weekend. Absolutely fantastic. We also had a weekend in North Wales which was about 2.5 hours, it was a baking hot weekend in June and absolutely gorgeous.

shinynewapple21 · 22/08/2021 10:30

From the midlands we've been to Norfolk, North and West Wales, Bournemouth, Somerset and Cornwall . Each time for a holiday .

Not sure if that makes me good, bad, average or what the relevance is .

SquirryTheSquirrel · 22/08/2021 10:33

2 x 5 hour train journeys to visit family (there and back!). Masks were still supposed to be compulsory on the train but it wasn't being adhered to by many so I felt a bit uncomfortable.

Aposterhasnoname · 22/08/2021 10:36

Gran Canaria last summer, and off to Lanzarote in a week.

MangosteenSoda · 22/08/2021 10:36

2 trips out of my town within the UK and a few days in Italy last summer. Hoping for a few days in Spain next month. Lots and lots and lots of walks in between Grin

herecomesthsun · 22/08/2021 11:10

We are all either CEV/ immunocompromised/strong family history of autoimmune disease.

We have had 4 holidays in the Uk but designed around visiting another more vulnerable family member and timed to support with health appointments etc.

We are really careful, but we have also managed to enjoy getting away. About 2- 3 hours drive each time.

theDudesmummy · 22/08/2021 11:11

Just came back (to Ireland) from a month in Croatia. Before that, had not left my county since March 2020.

Why?
newnortherner111 · 22/08/2021 11:14

Germany in September 2020.

Pootle40 · 22/08/2021 11:15

Train to Lake District.

ifonly4 · 22/08/2021 11:44

A couple of 2.5 drives for mini breaks. Generally we're s lot more local now, with a rare trip into town.

GintyMcGinty · 22/08/2021 11:46

Lanzarote

I live in Scotland

Clearlyunhinged · 22/08/2021 11:48

Do you want a medal OP? Weird...

igelkott2021 · 22/08/2021 11:51

3 hours to visit my mother. Well actually 5.5 hours because the traffic was horrendous on one occasion but generally it takes 3ish hours by car or train. I haven't been on holiday since before the pandemic started.

OliveTree75 · 22/08/2021 12:07

Chester about 3 hours away. And to the lake district.
I wonder if the OP will return to give us her verdict on our travels.

Tatum1234 · 22/08/2021 12:11

Currently in Spain.
