Urgh double vaxxed, +ve LFT feeling rough

Waiting for my PCR results. Feeling so rough. Everything aches. I've taken paracetamol and slept most of the day. Feel like I've got the beginning of a cold and feel feverish but can't take my temp as the thermometer broke a while ago.
Urgh urgh urgh. Not really sure why I'm posting really!

Sorry I didn't see that @CatAlice. Do you have any boiled sweets as this helped DD's cough (you've probably tried that, and everything else so apologies if that question is irritating rather than helpful!)

mrssunshinexxx · 13/08/2021 11:41

Same here @CatAlice from the baby though Sad least it took my mind of my breathing. We are both having oxygen tested later today

Piggywaspushed · 13/08/2021 11:44

You can buy oximeters quite cheaply off Amazon if you have it. I got one after being so ill in March 2020 . It came into its own this week as it helped me realise not being able to breathe was not due to low 02.

CatAlice · 13/08/2021 11:51

I do have an oximeter. My sats were low in the night but now 95. Heart rate is high though. Still waiting call back but feeling less shaky than earlier. How is that happening @mrssunshinexxx? I spoke to nurse earlier who was going to speak to gp as he thought I might need a&e. No idea how I could get to a&e.

mrssunshinexxx · 13/08/2021 12:19

Do you drive or live with anyone? @CatAlice I just rang my gp and explained my daughter whose a baby and me whose heavily pregnant both have covid can we get our levels checked waiting on a call back but the receptionist said there's this hub building for people who are covid positive

Piggywaspushed · 13/08/2021 12:26

This varies hugely from GP to GP. Mine won't even do BP checks, sadly.

Hope you get sorted cat.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 13/08/2021 13:08

Day 8 since first positive LFT here although looking back I had had a headache and sore throat 2 days prior to that so in reality I’m probably on Day 10.
Two days ago my smell and taste went and yesterday I felt very nauseous and soo tired. I wasn’t actually sick though.
Today I am still positive on LFT but not feeling as bad. Still coughing but not so frequently. Not bunged up or sneezing but no smell or taste. You’d think that might be a perfect opportunity to stop shovelling biscuits and cake but apparently not Hmm.
zero willpower

BishBashBoshBush · 13/08/2021 13:09

@CatAlice sorry you're feeling so bad with it all still. Are you going to be able to get to a covid positive hub or ring 111?
And I'm another who started with sore throat and headache.

@AvonCallingBarksdale you sound similar to me I'm on day 8 since symptoms started and lost my smell and taste about 36 hours ago got a hacking cough now too can't wait for it to all go for all of us

FiveGensOfLove · 13/08/2021 14:01

Hello - I’ve found my people!! So sorry to read that so many of you are feeling so rough. Solidarity fist bumps - I got my positive PCR back today after a +ve LFT yesterday, and feel GRIM. Double vaxxed with Pfizer.

I’m sweaty and hot without really having much of a temp, shivery, snotty, sneezy, groggy, knackered, no appetite, headache and shaky if I try to stand. Weirdly, one of my first symptoms was pain in the shoulder I had my jabs in, which has continued.

DH is +ve too but feeling perkier, and the kids are fine so far 🤞

Really thinking of those of you who have such bad symptoms you may need extra help. Hope everyone is okay.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 13/08/2021 14:02

Grim isn’t it, @mrssunshinexxx Sad. Yes let’s hope we’re all on the right trajectory quickly.

Piggywaspushed · 13/08/2021 14:13

Ok, just literally realised I lost my sense of smell. Day 9. FML.

Piggywaspushed · 13/08/2021 14:17

Although since the bin lorry has decided right outside my house is the right place to have their 20 minute break, every cloud....

Workyticket · 13/08/2021 14:28

I can't smell a thing. Taste is weird - I had jam on toast for lunch and knew it was sweet but couldn't actually taste jam.

Going to hint to dh to bring me a coffee so I can try that

CatAlice · 13/08/2021 14:57

piggy you made me laugh 😅.
Still nothing from GP but I got a clear " we can't see you here!" this morning. I thought GPshad moved on from hiding. Still I thought a phone call?
I did however get a call from the www.england.nhs.uk/nhs-at-home/covid-oximetry-at-home/
They monitor CEV and over 65s with covid and are routinely notified of all positive cases in those groups. I have to record sats and there's a 24 hour dedicated GP on call. The HCA was lovely but patronised me into a coma, spoke to me as though I was a 100 years old. Said "Bless" at least 6 times.
Still it's what I needed really to have some support.
As to getting to A&E, we live in a village and so have to drive everywhere. I couldn't have managed this morning but am less wobbly now. I wouldn't want DH to drive me as we are keeping as far apart as possible. Could get DS who lives 40 minutes away but I don't want to alarm him. I had breast cancer two years ago and they worry.
Another who started with headache for two days, then sore throat. Only when I got temperature on day three did the penny drop.

CatAlice · 13/08/2021 14:58

Oh and I just decided to try mints. Nada. Just a lump of nothing.

Piggywaspushed · 13/08/2021 14:59

Patronising is annoying but the level of support sounds good at least. Rest up!

HopefullyNotInfected · 13/08/2021 15:00

@AvonCallingBarksdale snap! Except for the nausea, for me it was a dicky tummy.
Still had a positive LFT today but apart from the occasional cough and a bit of a headache I’m ok. No sense of taste or smell still, hoping that returns soon.

croon979 · 13/08/2021 16:13

Got PCR results back. I am postive and my 6 year old son is also positive. I am feeling awful and I am
quite worried given my asthma as it has hit my chest already. Dr has prescribed steroids to support chest which should help. Son is quiet and a bit droopy.

hartof · 13/08/2021 16:32

Did any of have awful diarrhoea? Started with symptoms Tuesday but had a negative pcr, since then I have had positive lft and DH had a positive PCR. On Wednesday night I was up every hour with horrendous stomach cramps needing the loo, yesterday I had some buscopan and immodium which helped but the cramps are really bad today. I've barely eaten since Monday 😞

GiveUsACoffee · 13/08/2021 16:50

Are any of you cooking? I'm trying to do basic stuff because DH is acting all clueless. I won't be cooking anymore though as I don't want to pass the virus to him

AvonCallingBarksdale · 13/08/2021 17:04

I am cooking - DD is no longer testing positive and DH and DS have recorded negative LFT tests every day for over a week. I’m being really careful.

WTFIsTheAnswerToThis · 13/08/2021 17:05

to all suffering (and for those who can taste it!)

It's interesting to see the sore throat and headache being a common denominator. I didn't have gastro symptoms but it also seems common going by MN threads.

Re: hospital, when I had pneumonia last year my GP said you just need to call ahead and they have a separate waiting room/level of PPE for staff. She also said keep your threshold for seeking hospital care the same ie don't wait for it to get worse than you would normally.

@GiveUsACoffee I am certainly not cooking, I am lying in bed eating jelly babies completely pointless as I can't taste them while DH makes me hot drinks. Your DH is a fully functioning grown up adult, I assume? He shouldn't be acting like an incompetent toddler as it's not attractive in a grown man, but more importantly why isn't he helping you to rest and looking after you?!

WTFIsTheAnswerToThis · 13/08/2021 17:07

Where did my emojis go?! I was offering everyone flowers and cups of tea! Annoying.

Btw, does anyone find symptoms are "coming and going"? I felt quite bright this morning but just had a couple of hours where I felt fucking awful, I couldn't lift my head I was so tired, now I feel brighter again. It's so odd!

GiveUsACoffee · 13/08/2021 18:00

Thanks for the teas @WTFIsTheAnswerToThis

I definitely feel the symptoms come and go in waves. I felt like a hero earlier when I tried to cook, etc. The problem is definitely me, craving certain things only I can make. But it wiped me out, so I am now lying in bed eating a nice salad, which I summoned DH to make
