Waiting for my PCR results. Feeling so rough. Everything aches. I've taken paracetamol and slept most of the day. Feel like I've got the beginning of a cold and feel feverish but can't take my temp as the thermometer broke a while ago.
Urgh urgh urgh. Not really sure why I'm posting really!

Just discovered DS2 has no smell either. He had no idea.

CatAlice · 13/08/2021 19:04

Got a call back from GP, well nurse practitioner. Essentially they shut down the local covid hot clinic and the only way to access a&e is by ambulance. He said my oxygen levels were borderline and it was up to me. I declined.
Then I got a call back from the covid at home team. I now have clear instructions what to do and a 24 hour GP helpline. So reassuring. Interestingly I chatted a bit about the service, she said it's really ramping up, she had 10 new CEV pcr positive referrals today. Small northern town, possiblynot far from piggy.

It's the first day I couldn't eat. Takes a lot to put me off food. Slept for an hour and DH made me toast which I needed but nauseous now. Up until now I have cooked meals with mask on, then stepped out of kitchen for DH to dish up. We are a bit old-fashioned in that I do all the cooking but he does all the clearing up. I never so much as wash a teaspoon and do not operate the dishwasher. So toast is it, he might struggle with doing a ready meal.

Yes symptoms def coming in waves. Makes me wonder what delight is in store for tomorrow.
Wondering how @mrssunshinexxx is.

mrssunshinexxx · 13/08/2021 20:42

@CatAlice oh no how come
You declined going in what number was your Oxygen?
Thanks for thinking of me, me and my little one went to get checked my anxiety was through the roof driving there thinking the worse. My mum died suddenly and unexpectedly last year so I just catastrophise everything now I can't help it but so grateful all my obs are fine and so are my babies and baby in tummy kicking away happily the doctor said have a low threshold if anything gets worse becagse I'm pregnant but she said day 7/8 are usually the worst I'm day 7 today so she said she felt confident as my obs are good that I will just start to improve please let that be true it's so hard looking after a 13 month old
And being pregnant whilst feeling this crap I just want to slob around in bed

Piggywaspushed · 13/08/2021 20:48

Grin Blush. Yes, he normally smells very distinctive!

Workyticket · 13/08/2021 22:16

Woah - the sweats have started! Went upstairs to make the bed, managed 2 pillow cases and had to sit down. Sweat is trickling down my neck! Crikey!

GiveUsACoffee · 14/08/2021 02:16

Horrible night so far. DD, also positive, has developed a really high temperature. I am all blocked, can't breathe so, combined with worrying about her, I'm starting to panic.

Cold compresses on DD, while I'm trying a bit of meditation / breathing exercises in bed

Piggywaspushed · 14/08/2021 07:27

Hope you are all OK today . It's such a slog.

mrssunshinexxx · 14/08/2021 08:30

@GiveUsACoffee how was the rest of the night ?
My lo was up coughing so much so I held her most of the night upright it helps her so feeling knackered but glad she got some rest. My throat was getting sore at 5am so took some paracetamol and it seems to of cleared it off
Really tickly cough now it was phlegmy yesterday but dry today?b

WTFIsTheAnswerToThis · 14/08/2021 09:06

@GiveUsACoffee is it worth ringing 111 for your DD?

Breathlessness is awful as breathing should be "instinctive" and it's scary when it isn't! Ignore me if you already know this but I have underlying disease affecting breathing without CV, and the most useful things I have been taught are Pursed Lip Breathing and the Sitting Recovery position. I don't want to give any medical advice as I am in no way qualified to do soSmile but that's just my personal experience! This is an NHS publication which explains them (and others) just in case anyone finds it useful.

WTFIsTheAnswerToThis · 14/08/2021 09:08

Goodness you would think I would know how to do short MN web links by now Blush

Is it just me, or is it always at the weekend when GPs and clinics are closed, that you suddenly feel much worse Confused

Piggywaspushed · 14/08/2021 09:14

Always! In fact, it's a week today that I started feeling really unwell and Sunday was when I was in hospital.

Benjispruce5 · 14/08/2021 09:23

From 16th you do have to isolate if a household member is positive.
Get well soon.

Benjispruce5 · 14/08/2021 09:25

Friends of mine have a positive DD but so far all others are negative, 7 days in. I’m really surprised as they’re anti backers.Hmm

Benjispruce5 · 14/08/2021 09:25

Vaxxers not backers

Benjispruce5 · 14/08/2021 10:53

Actually I might be wrong about households having to isolate if there’s a positive member. I read it yesterday but can’t find it on gov guidelines for Monday 16th. Seems too lax to me.

Theimpossiblegirl · 14/08/2021 11:33

I wouldn't want to be out mixing knowing I had cases at home and wouldn't want to mix with people in the same situation.
I think there will be wording changes- close and direct contacts.
The cynic in me thinks it's so people can't be paid to isolate, but I'm expecting back peddling and u turns.

Also I feel shit. Didn't know about the nausea.

CatAlice · 14/08/2021 11:39

Oh @mrssunshinexxx you poor thing. It's all bad enough without you baby being ill. Of course we would all put ourselves aside when our child needs us but you do need to look after yourself. So tough that isolation means you can't even get help.

Day 6. Slept better and coughed less but threw up. Now very nauseous but I think I need to find something I can eat. More echoes of pregnancy. I truly have never felt so ill, however I'm not so worried now as my breathing is fine and my cough is less.

WTF thanks for that. I do have a lung condition called bronchiectasis. Fairly mild but I do chest clearance exercises '

DS sent me

CatAlice · 14/08/2021 11:47

I wouldn't want to be out mixing knowing I had cases at home and wouldn't want to mix with people in the same situation. Quite.
I don't know whether the general public realises just how much breakthrough infection there is.

The cynic in me thinks it's all to do with schools. If close contacts at schools don't have to isolate it will just rip through entire classes / groups. I'm relieved teacher DS is now double jabbed but of course he now knows that's no protection against infection.

DontDrinkDontSmokeWhatDoIDo · 14/08/2021 11:48

I just put a post up about the lunacy of not having to isolate if someone In your household tests positive.

Apparently me and my family are just not hardy enough!!

Piggywaspushed · 14/08/2021 11:50

The guidance forget public advises contacts to wear masks and avoid those who are CEV. Should be fun in schools....perhaps a leper bell could also be provided....

Piggywaspushed · 14/08/2021 11:50

Also, people will want to stay at home with sick people....

mrssunshinexxx · 14/08/2021 12:20

@CatAlice are you pregnant too?
Do people think I should get the vaccine as soon as I'm able to or not since doesn't it mean I have antibodies and can't catch it again for 6 months ? I'm due early
Nov ..

Ah I know it's rough isn't it I don't have any help anyway so that part doesn't bother me just can't wait to feel well again hope it's not too long x

Piggywaspushed · 14/08/2021 13:04

dont people always get very anxious when a rule change is on the horizon. It's panic that their freedom light be temporary or illusory. Certain people then flock to a thread. FWIW , I am very unsure about how this will all pan out after Monday, especially since PCR , only picks up whether you are infected at a point in time and people transmit before they have symptoms. From a selfish point of view, three of my household are safe from each other and , mire altruistically, safe for others to be around, at least for a while.

Ignore stuff about you being floored because you somehow lack fighting spirit. What bollocks.

CatAlice · 14/08/2021 15:04

@mrssunshinexxx, ah no, my DC are in their 20sGrin.
It seems logical that you will now have antibodies but I would ask your midwife whether to get the vaccine before November.

piggy DS2 tested negative and yet he thought his taste was affected. I've told him those tests are highly sensitive and would have detected the virus. He now wants an antibody testGrin

GiveUsACoffee · 14/08/2021 20:40

@mrssunshinexxx We managed to sleep after around 3am. I gave her a mix of ibuprofen and paracetamol plus cold compresses, which helped.
My breathing is the same..really hard work. Hope you and your LO are feeling a bit better today 😘
