Waiting for my PCR results. Feeling so rough. Everything aches. I've taken paracetamol and slept most of the day. Feel like I've got the beginning of a cold and feel feverish but can't take my temp as the thermometer broke a while ago.
Urgh urgh urgh. Not really sure why I'm posting really!

Yes, I am wrong. Gov was not clear on this at first and , in fact, T and T are telling people differently. It'll all come out in the wash.

CatAlice · 12/08/2021 15:01

Overdoing it consisted of sitting outside for a few hours.
I had a walk round the garden and needed a lie down. I stripped my sweaty bed this morning and have muster the energy to re-make it. Can't ask DH as I don't want him in my covid ridden space. He hasn't got his pcr result back yet after 26 hours.

Anecdotally I just spoke to a friend. Her whole family of six adults, all DJd tested positive on lfts. They never bothered with pcrs so won't be counted though they have isolated.

PrincessNutNuts · 12/08/2021 15:14

@Tana433

Not trying to be goady at all but have any of you that are double vaxxed and really ill actually thought that maybe the vaccine just didnt work for you and you would have been just as ill with or without it? Personally, im happy to take my chances without the jab but we all make our own choices but surely it must have crossed your minds?
No.

My husband and his cousin are the offspring of brothers, and they both recently caught covid at a family wedding.

My husband is in his 40s, double vaxxed. I drove him to A&E on the advice of 111 and he was released the following afternoon.

The cousin is early 30s, un-vaxxed, and was blue lighted to hospital after his mum got concerned that this wasn't "just an extended hangover due to him not being much of a drinker usually" and spoke to 111, who sent an ambulance. He is still in hospital but out of ITU now.

The cousin is considerably younger and arguably fitter than DH with a chunk of the same genes, but the vaccine or absence thereof seems to have made a significant difference.

BishBashBoshBush · 12/08/2021 15:17

My poor kids are really missing me so I got up and am sitting in the garden. I am fucked. I need to go back to bed but they are putting on a show for me and I don't know how to get back in to lie down without upsetting them.

Feeling so exhausted, and nauseous. Has anyone else got blurry vision? Anyone else had an ocular migraine when you see lightening flashes in your eye? Was trying so hard to stay positive but today feel anxious and depressed. I'm hating this feeling of compressed fuzziness in my brain! Love to all fellow sufferers x

Tell them the truth.

Being ill makes you very tired and you need to go back to bed now and watch the rest of the show tomorrow.

The sooner you're better, the better for everybody.

And you need rest.

mrssunshinexxx · 12/08/2021 15:32

Hi, currently have covid and 28 weeks pregnant , not vaccinated
Think I'm on day 5 from positive test day 7 from symptoms main symptom shortness of breath that was it for the first few days now I have that, blocked nose and throat like razor blades still have my taste and smell. Does anyone know when peak day usually is ? My anxiety is sky high.
Also now I've had it do you think I should get the vaccine still?

Gingerwhatknot · 12/08/2021 16:02

I've just joined the thread aswell am on day 7, started with a throat tingle then like a hangover, not so much of a cough but definitely breathlessness. Im single jabbed.

Definitely wishing I made the time to get the second when I had the reminder a couple of weeks ago but at least I've got one behind me.

Definitely feeling the anxiety with the breathlessness, I thought I felt half ok yesterday had a clean up and today completely wiped out again. When. Will. It. End. Like. Seriously had enough now!!! It's just the feeling of utter exhaustion and nausea that I can't cope with without having anxiety of the breathlessness.

I suspect my 11 month old has it too she has just had a runny nose, slight temp and slight cough couple days ago but manageable with calpol she is as lively as ever so I'm not concerned to much with her, I'm more concerned if I get too bad.

I don't know if this makes things worse but I live on a main road and all I hear all day is ambulances and their blues n twos charging up and down the road very unnerving!

Anyway very long but I do feel slightly better getting it out, hopefully we can all get through this xxx

BishBashBoshBush · 12/08/2021 16:13

Welcome @Gingerwhatknot how does it work with you getting the second dose then? Are you still eligible? and welcome @mrssunshinexxx being pregnant is tiring enough without this crap on top!
@PrincessNutNuts you are quite right. I came back in for a nap. They are worrying but in odd ways. Bad dreams and worrying about rats getting in our house (random I know as we don't have a rodent problem??)
I've left them with DH who has decided today not to play PlayStation all day and has actually done some housework. I think he wants a medal or something but it's just daily life. I am off to do some headspace and sleeeeeeep. Again.

Workyticket · 12/08/2021 16:15

Anyone else's eyes watering constantly? It's doing my head in more than the cough!

Sonata13 · 12/08/2021 16:26

Yes to the watery eyes and also blurry vision. Really hope vision gets back to normal soon.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 12/08/2021 16:38

Good lord this really is the gift that keeps on giving - the nausea is quite something else 🤢

Aww, the poor babies and their anxiety dreams about rats. Sad

I think the more you do, the more your other half and the children will think you're able to do, and you won't get the rest you need to recover.

So you need to harden your heart a bit and let their other parent do the lion's share of the parenting for a few days.

Like on a flight. You put your own oxygen mask on first before you try to help others because otherwise everyone ends up having to help you.

I'm just coming out the other end of it so I'm well enough to read and watch Netflix but don't feel up to standing and cooking dinner or fetching my own cups of tea much yet.

Gingerwhatknot · 12/08/2021 16:42

@BishBashBoshBush from what I can gather the advice is 4 weeks from onset of illness to booking the next vaccine from an NHS faq page of catching covid between doses so I'll be definitely getting that.

@Workyticket for me the watery eyes were first symptoms with a sore throat I thought it was hay fever, I seem to have got away lightly with the cough reading others comments but still feel very breathless but I may be low b vits and iron with the sickness

MrsLCSofLichfield · 12/08/2021 17:09

@Gingerwhatknot - do you have an oximeter? If not, you can get one cheaply off Argos for same/next day delivery. As you're double-jabbed I am sure you will be fine, but it's reassuring to be able to check your oxygen levels if you can, I wish I'd had one when I was sick last year!

Get well soon Flowers

mrssunshinexxx · 12/08/2021 17:14

@BishBashBoshBush I know I have a 1 year okd too I'm scared when Isit meant to hit peak ? / feel better

MrsLCSofLichfield · 12/08/2021 17:14

@Gingerwhatnot - sorry just read back and see you are single-jabbed. Still don't worry, rest, drink lots of fluids, B/C/D vits, magnesium. It's a nasty illness, I was at my most unwell days 7-12 but slowly started to turn a corner from day 13. I expect you are younger and fitter than me anwyay - wishing you a speedy recovery.

HopefullyNotInfected · 12/08/2021 17:24

Just checking in, hope everyone starts feeling better soon.
I’m feeling a bit better (it’s all relative!) but concerned about the dip that people seem to get after being on the mend.
I seem to have been spared the fatigue, in fact I’ve been unable to sleep well since this started. I’ve done nothing but lie on the sofa watching crappy TV though.
No smell or taste right now so followed the advice I’d read, can’t remember which thread it was, and ordered some zinc tablets which are meant to help.
Take care everyone.

I forget which day you're on but yes I had nausea the first few days (which I've been calling The Days of Pain), and it was awful. It's passed now though and I've just eaten some crisps which I could kind of taste!!! Huzzah!

@HopefullyNotInfected & @mrssunshinexxx I hear for unvaccinated it's day 5? I think??? No idea for vaccinated people, although I felt at my worst on day 2/3 and marginally better today. Although still slept all morning.

@BishBashBoshBush I'm on day 5 today and not vaccinated I've just lost my taste today? What are your symptoms are you vaccinated x

BorisTheBellendPM · 12/08/2021 18:57

Hi all, I tested positive yesterday after a LFT test which showed a faint line. I feel fine so far, just a slight headache which comes and goes and yesterday a sore throat which is now fine. I was hoping that was it, that because I had very mild symptoms that I wasn't going to get any worse but this thread has shown me how foolish that thinking was.

Did anyone else start out with extremely mild symptoms and end up much worse?

CatAlice · 12/08/2021 19:07

@BorisTheBellendPM. Yes. Mild headache day 1, mild, almost imperceptible sore throat day 2. Slight temperature day 3.
Today is day 5 and my head is a bit better but the cough is horrendous.
I have felt worse, but I'm definitely ill.
I think the phrase "mild symptoms " is deceptive. It means you don't need hospital, that's all, you can still be extremely unwell.

Piggywaspushed · 12/08/2021 19:20

This is me . No health conditions and double vacced. Not young , not old!

Day 1 (but pre test) some coughing (so I class this as start of symptoms) which made me a bit wary. Took DSs for testing because DS2 has +ve LFT after 2 negs.
Day 2 - DSs get tests back positive. I totally lose appetite and feel sick and have headache but cough more sporadic and have negative LFT
Day 3- I go for test to put my mind at rest although had a neg LFT. Promptly throw up and this carries on for 4 days... start coughing at bedtime and do not stop all night. Banging headache
Day 4 - test comes back positive. Coughing more or less subsides but vomiting and nausea are overwhelming. Huge attacks of the shakes.
Day 5- unable to keep down any liquid or fluids and rapid pulse and heartbeat. Taken to hospital for fluids and obs....
Day 6 -out of hospital. Temperature climbs but never above 38.1. Headaches, sweats and shakes.
Day 7 - temperature settles around 37.8. Less need for paracetamol. Eat something! Hoorah!
Day 8 - Eat more. No headache. No nausea. No temperature. Tired. Cough back
Day 9 - today . Wiped out. Utterly wiped out. Cough worse in morning . Shoulders, neck, rib and backache

Baby steps...

Piggywaspushed · 12/08/2021 19:36

Oh and I forgot the weeping . All day today. Weeping.
