Waiting for my PCR results. Feeling so rough. Everything aches. I've taken paracetamol and slept most of the day. Feel like I've got the beginning of a cold and feel feverish but can't take my temp as the thermometer broke a while ago.
Urgh urgh urgh. Not really sure why I'm posting really!

I’m so cross at how focused officialdom is on the three ‘main’ COVID symptoms. No wonder it’s still spreading so widely. My DH had a cold for days and only tested when he lost his sense of smell and thought ‘oh shit’. Fortunately we weren’t around anyone else, but you can see how easily it might slip anyone’s attention if your symptoms are mild enough.
Why the advice hasn’t been updated is nuts.

Sorry to see new people joining but nice to have the company!
Day 6 here and I felt a little better this morning so went out to the garden to get some air and do a little light weeding. Ha! Am now flat out on the sofa, got the sweats, a wave of intense exhaustion and I hurt all over. Much more chesty today, too, although it’s not bad. I can just feel it, if that makes sense.

Fist bumps all round.

QueenStromba · 17/08/2021 15:17

Yeah, if you're going to try to do things then keep it to short bursts spread throughout they day and stop well before you feel you need to. If you're not feeling like a lazy arse for sitting on the sofa most of the day then you're probably doing too much!

CelieandNettie · 17/08/2021 15:32

Hi can I join ? Had what I thought was a stomach bug last week and felt awful . That cleared up for two days but then had this headache that just won't shift ( right behind my eyes if that makes sense).
Thought I'd do a LF and low and behold came positive straight away so just been for a PCR test. Thinking now that maybe the tummy bug last week was the start of it ?

Piggywaspushed · 17/08/2021 15:47

Hello!

Yes, I think it probably was. Welcome to our club...

GnomeyGnome · 17/08/2021 16:11

Just had a call from T&T. Reminding me of my legal duty to isolate and the fine I face etc, etc.. I told her I could barely make it to the bathroom without having a lie down so they've got no worries about me making a bid for freedom Grin She also said if I have a runny nose, sneezing, dizziness, nausea, diarrhea or a temp after my 10 days then I was to continue isolating. I would anyway but found it interesting that I have to continue isolating with those symptoms yet they're not included in the symptoms to watch out for in the first place. Apart from temp.

GnomeyGnome · 17/08/2021 16:12

Also, did anyone receive any follow up texts from T&T about clinical trials? One was for antiviral treatment and the other was for some sort of voice diagnostic programme.

Piggywaspushed · 17/08/2021 16:20

no, didn't get that but did get lots of phone calls. One email mentioned trials.

Piggywaspushed · 17/08/2021 16:21

I wasn't told to continue isolating with dizziness!! I'd still be in. Sneezing and temperature, yes.

DontDrinkDontSmokeWhatDoIDo · 17/08/2021 16:31

Hi all,
Sorry to those still suffering.

I'm about three weeks in now and still exhausted, brain fog, aching, sore chest.

I'm so relieved I have older kids - I take my hat off to you all who have to look after people.

FMSucks · 17/08/2021 16:40

Hi All. Another one here I think. Took an LFT this morning which was positive and just back from getting a PCR. I’m Pfizer double jabbed.

It was this thread that made me second guess what I thought was my usual sinus infection. I am
in Ireland and we also have the same symptom checker as the UK of which I had no symptoms until I lost my sense of smell on Sunday.

I reckon I’ve had Covid for 6 days now. I’ll be honest and say I was one of those who thought it’s really no big deal for the vast majority of us so let us get on with it, but I would hate to think how sick I would have been if I hadn’t been vaccinated. I have been floored for a week now, shivers, a feeling of insects crawling all over me, sweating profusely, weak, no appetite, blocked nose and ears. Headache has started today and throat a bit sore.

Hoping everyone will is on the mend soon x

Piggywaspushed · 17/08/2021 16:47

Good Luck with your PCR.

Maybe we wouldn't have been worse.. I suppose it's feasible we are the unlucky few for whom the vaccine didn't really work, for some reason...?

GCrebel · 17/08/2021 16:51

Can I join the pity party? I was double jabbed at the end of March (HCP) and am day 3-4 of symptoms.

I keep telling myself I'm not too bad and then I try and get out of bed...
Have been wearing a mask when DD or DH come to the bedroom door to talk to me and really struggling with it.

Was hoping that this will be mild disease as I have probably caught it from someone who is also double jabbed. Not sure how that one is working out tbh.

FMSucks · 17/08/2021 17:08

@Piggywaspushed - do you think that might be the case that the vaccine didn’t work? Ugh that’s frustrating as I had awful nausea, periods all messed up and a sore arm weeks after, and all potentially for nothing? Aarrrggghhhh

Piggywaspushed · 17/08/2021 17:10

I don't know. I don't know how we would know, I guess. Hopefully, now having been ill, we are all antibodied up either way....

Piggywaspushed · 17/08/2021 17:12

Unjabbed 17 year old has definitely had the longest illness. I was tracking three days behind him for main symptoms but his sweaty hands and feet came after mine. he is about 16 days post test and still has cough, no sense of smell and sweats. But his illness was milder as he is young.

Part Pfizer jabbed DS1 who gave it all to us got off most lightly. That is unless fully jabbed DH actually got it and no one noticed, including him.

CatAlice · 17/08/2021 17:13

Same here, it's a struggle. And yet in hospital you still have to wear a mask while being pushed through ward/xray etc. I also put mine on every time staff came in the room. The consultant wore one of those gas mask respirators.
He told me I need to continue to isolate after 10 days if I have temperature, diarrhoea or vomiting. Nothing else. Not that I think I'll be able to go out in two days time.
The isolation is 11 days really? The day of test or symptoms plus ten.

Piggywaspushed · 17/08/2021 17:15

Yes, I think it's because it's 10 full days. So you get out on the 11th? If well enough.

I am attempting day out tomorrow... all outside , but a lot of walking. DH walks fast...

CatAlice · 17/08/2021 17:20

It did work. It prevented serious illness. I know it feels bad but you are not seriously ill if at home.
I do have underlying conditions which might result in reduced immune response but I know I had some antibodies as I test monthly for VirusWatch. I would have been immeasurably worse without vaccine.

I am now thinking ahead. I will qualify for a booster. I reckon I'll put it off for a few weeks on the grounds that a) I should be full of abs and b) the later I have it the longer it will last. I fear this will have to be an annual thing.

FMSucks · 17/08/2021 17:29

Hi @CatAlice - thanks for that. I hope you’re feeling better soon and stay safe. X

breadwidow · 17/08/2021 18:17

Anyone further along than me got their smell/taste back yet? Mine was going but still partially there for a couple of days but has now totally disappeared (I'm day 7 since first symptoms).

DontDrinkDontSmokeWhatDoIDo · 17/08/2021 18:55

I have my smell and taste back, @breadwidow - came back around 2.5 weeks in so hope yours does too.

Piggywaspushed · 17/08/2021 18:58

I could get vague base notes of vinegar earlier. I am like a mad glue sniffer or wine taster going around smelling everything.

DontDrinkDontSmokeWhatDoIDo · 17/08/2021 19:04

On a different note: i still have a burning chest and exhaustion.

No cough or phlegm or anything.

Is it worth getting a call with a doctor for antibiotics or will they dismiss me?

mrssunshinexxx · 17/08/2021 19:55

@breadwidow I'm about day 10 since taste gone and nothing at all still

changeoflife · 18/08/2021 06:35

Hi, can I join you? Double vaxxed (Pfizer) and got my positive PCR back yesterday morning. I feel absolutely dreadful, completely floored by how bad I feel. Ironic as I wasn't going to test as my symptoms were just a runny nose and lots of sneezing. None of the "big 3". I did 4 lateral flows as didn't believe the results but obviously the pcr being positive confirms them.

Yesterday I felt quite coldy. Bit of a sore throat, slight cough but no temp.

Today I've woken feeling like I've been hit by a bus. Everything aches. Even my eyelids.
Think I need to get some Night Nurse so I can be knocked out and sleep through it!!
