Waiting for my PCR results. Feeling so rough. Everything aches. I've taken paracetamol and slept most of the day. Feel like I've got the beginning of a cold and feel feverish but can't take my temp as the thermometer broke a while ago.
Urgh urgh urgh. Not really sure why I'm posting really!

@WTFIsTheAnswerToThis Thank you. She seems a bit better now, with ibuprofen and paracetamol. Thanks for the breathing advice. I will look them up. I can't seem to get anything from the link. But I'll google it. Thank you ☺️

FiveGensOfLove · 14/08/2021 21:11

Anyone find symptoms taking a plunge on day 4? I thought I was perking up and now I’m bathed in sweat, feeling wheezy and just had a really trippy shower (boiling hot, but it felt shivery on my skin). Temp barely above normal 🤷‍♀️
Feel really woozy, though….

HBGKC · 14/08/2021 21:26

@mrssunshinexxx if you're currently pregnant and have Covid, I personally would not have the vaccine until after you've given birth, as you'll definitely have antibodies now. I hope you and your baby feel better soon.

Babyroobs · 14/08/2021 22:20

So sorry to read of all of you going through this. I am currently waiting for PCR result. I'm just worried for my adult dc ( 6 of us in the household). One has just started a new job and one has already missed a lot of time as his brother had it a few weeks ago. DH also ECV. I've had sore throat for a couple of days and developed persistent cough today. funnily enough the headache I've had for days has now ceased. hope you all start to feel better soon.

mrssunshinexxx · 14/08/2021 23:03

Thanks @HBGKC Isit 6 months I would be 'safe' for? Lo got a raging temp i want to sleep for a week , I hate this

QueenStromba · 15/08/2021 08:09
@mrssunshinexxx, ah no, my DC are in their 20sGrin.
It seems logical that you will now have antibodies but I would ask your midwife whether to get the vaccine before November.

piggy DS2 tested negative and yet he thought his taste was affected. I've told him those tests are highly sensitive and would have detected the virus. He now wants an antibody testGrin
PCRs actually have a pretty high false negative rate. It's difficult to quantify as we don't have a better test to compare it to but it might be as high as 50%.

breadwidow · 15/08/2021 08:19

@FiveGensOfLove yes - im day 5 now and began feeling worse again late last night (day 4) after feeling a lot better earlier in the day; woke up about 6am dripping with sweat and feeling even worse. I was meant to start a new job (with ink same org I already work for) back end of last week. The office is still mainly wfh so I can work in isolation. I reported sick last week fully expecting to work this coming week but if it carries on like this I will def be reporting sick again on Monday. Fortunately my new boss seems very understanding.

breadwidow · 15/08/2021 08:38

@QueenStromba interesting- I tested negative on a pcr weds this week despite having (slight) symptoms since the day before (son tested positive), felt worse by Thursday so did a LF and tested positive and I got another pcr Friday which is of course positive. I'm convinced first year was false negative maybe because it was so early in the virus. My DH thinks my symptoms were in my head then and I didn't get it til Thursday. If you have any links / info on false pcr rates please share!!

Piggywaspushed · 15/08/2021 09:11

Day 11 so out of isolation. Now bunged up in way I often am with hay fever. No idea if something is irritating my nose because I cannot smell anything still...

Going to try not to overdo it today...

DontDrinkDontSmokeWhatDoIDo · 15/08/2021 09:39

Morning all,

I hope everyone is improving.

I'm still exhausted but less sweaty - win!

DontDrinkDontSmokeWhatDoIDo · 15/08/2021 09:40

Fingers crossed for you all, @Babyroobs

mrssunshinexxx · 15/08/2021 10:18

I'm on day 9 did a lateral this morn and it's still showing positive but a very faint line I have to produce negative laterals for Midwife app on wed and scan app following tues really hope it shows up as negative soon. Sore throat gone and not coughing so far today just feel really really fatigued and breathless still and climbing the walls with a whiny baby. Does anyone know when taste is likely to come back?

FiveGensOfLove · 15/08/2021 10:24

@breadwidow I had a similar night - woke at 3am shivering violently and couldn’t get warm. Took some paracetamol and DH piled on the blankets. This morning I feel less clogged up but my chest is starting to hurt…

@mrssunshinexxx my DH lost his smell on Thursday and it was back by Saturday, but from what I’ve read it seems to vary hugely. Test and Trace told him this morning it can last for weeks, I’m afraid. I hope yours doesn’t! 🤞

BishBashBoshBush · 15/08/2021 10:28

Woah loads of posts to catch up on. I'm so glad this thread has become a useful support for so many. I'm day 9 now and I'm tentatively feeling better. Still tired, headache and no smell or taste, but much better.
Just checking in really. Will have a catch up read

@GiveUsACoffee do you have a pulse oximeter at home? If you are having that heavy chest feeling and finding breaths not "satisfying" then that can help guide clinical decision making.
I've got one arriving today as I stupidly googled symptoms a few nights ago and scared myself!

@Piggywaspushed you're FREEEE!!!
I'm mostly excited about going to the corner shop when we run out of milk. That's the dream!

@FiveGensOfLove omg I miss the taste of food and the smell of my babies sweet head so much

WTFIsTheAnswerToThis · 15/08/2021 10:56

@CatAlice thank you for that - bronchiestasis is very similar do you mind if I ask you how "clear" your chest is and if you have "in case" anti biotics? The CV "dry cough" certainly doesn't apply here! I'm struggling to clear mine and it's worrying me as I have had pneumonia and pleurisy before. I will ring GP tomorrow (she's better than 111!)

Sorry everyone is still suffering - I keep thinking if the jabs are more likely to reduce symptoms what we would have been like without them!

My DD (18 one jab) is on day 9 and definitely coming out the other side as a bit of hope, she still has a dry cough and tired but sense of taste is coming back.

I'm trying to decide which is worse for me...losing taste (but food!) or smell (but perfume!) Perfume is almost as important to me as food Grin

FiveGensOfLove · 15/08/2021 10:58

Oh @mrssunshinexxx I can only imagine ❤️- those are the sniffs you don’t want to miss out on. I’ve often wondered if they could bottle that smell somehow.
Fingers crossed for you it won’t be long.

WTFIsTheAnswerToThis · 15/08/2021 10:59

Babies heads!! @mrssunshinexxx I'm so nostalgic now Smile Mine are all grown up so I content myself by sniffing my cats - long haired, they smell of biscuits, and grass and soil in the Summer. And rubbing their little cat toe beans

WTFIsTheAnswerToThis · 15/08/2021 11:04

@FiveGensOfLove at the risk of being horribly insensitive on a thread where people have lost their sense of smell Blush Grin there are a few perfumes that have a "skin scent", although not as good as babies' skin of course. I love Glossier You and Clean Reserve Skin.

Mind you, I like sniffing Johnson's Baby Shampoo for nostalgia purposes in Boots whilst waiting for prescriptions Blush Smell is very important to me, I want it to come back!

GAVI have a good summary here.

GiveUsACoffee · 15/08/2021 11:13

@BishBashBoshBush I wanted to thank you for stating this thread. It's been so reassuring to all be in this together. Honestly, I feel all connected and safe. ❤️

Day 11 for me and feeling better apart from a slight cough. Had a phone call from t&t yesterday confirming my isolation has ended.

My problem is I'm supposed to be going on holiday to Spain this Weds. I've been on the app to download my travel pass but it says "no covid 19 records found" Confused I can see the record of my jabs on the other page but can't generate the actual pass SadSadSad

I called 119 this morning and was told it shouldn't say that now I'm not infectious and to check again tomorrow. Would any of you lovely lot be able to check what yours says please?
