Young (20s) fit healthy , struggled in hospital with Covid . Passed away a few days ago.

Life is so cruel. I also see that a fifth of hospital admissions are now younger patients .

Will this get worse ?

It's getting to the stage when I have zero sympathy for anyone unvaccinated, unless medical conditions.

I'm now fighting hard to get my ds's x 2 vaccinated ASAP.

What SHOULD reassure women (and men) that there is ZERO evidence to suggest the covid vaccine affects fertility. This was all started through social media and has no scientific basis. There is no scientific mechanism as to why the vaccine could POSSIBLY affect fertility! But, you know, keep reading stuff on Twitter or Facebook or whatever rather than listen to ACTUAL scientists/doctors/RCOG for your factual information. 🙄

@leafyygreens

But this isn’t scare mongering?

“I can see why the unvaccinated might struggle with fertility. Covid infection has been linked to ED in young men.”

And conveniently overlooks that BJ had covid himself last year.

I don't understand the point you're trying to make? Are you actually meaning to reply to my post - I was talking about the mistaken belief vaccination can cause infertility?

Don't trust Johnson a jot, but i do trust the scientists and vaccine developers who are confident there is not a plausible mechanism by which it would impact fertility.

This is common scaremongering tactic about vaccines in general (see polio), none have had adverse effects on fertility.

Thats because the number of older patients has gone way down, not because the number of younger patients has gone way up.

HungryHippo11 · 07/08/2021 07:47

It's not scaremongering to say that this is a serious illness and should be taken seriously.
Do you think it hasn't been taken seriously? We have had 15 months of restrictions and a mass vaccination programme. I would say that's taking it pretty bloody seriously.

Quartz2208 · 07/08/2021 07:48

Exactly Hungryhippo 1000 under 40 patients this wave making up 20%. The figure last time was around 5% but that peaked at 39000 so roughly 1900

Vaccines are working for serious infection. It is likely the over 12s will be know as well
