FFS Been pinged & were due to go on holiday tomorrow

Well that's it then. We have to cancel our holiday. This year feels like I have been cursed. I've had two eye operations to stop me going blind, and now this.

DH & I have been doubly vaccinated but the DC are too young.

I work for a large corporate. We have been told to turn the App off .

Go on holiday, the App is fucked and one of the many fuck ups surrounding covid.

My daughter got pinged when her next door neighbour had Covid. Delete the app and go.

Last year everyone was complaining that the app development was too slow. Now it's here and working, people are deleting it. It's another situation where people not everyone else to isolate when pinged but not themselves because they're "special."

It doesn't work though. I got a ping from it and the only place I'd been on the relevant day (or those either side) was Sainsbury's and I definitely hadn't been near enough to anyone for long enough to warrant a ping.

My DD got a ping when she was isolating. I mean WTAF

Do you know if "the vulnerable " in OP's holiday destination have been vaccinated?

Where are you going? If it’s a UK holiday in your own car I’d go. I’d be worried about testing positive if you’re going abroad.

I haven’t had pinger on for ages. It’s not legally binding that you have to SI so what’s the point. Take lateral flows with and just test (assume you’re not going abroad).
In 10 days SI for double jabbed will be scrapped anyway.

Yep, dh got pinged. He literally hadnt left the house. Found out later that neighbours had covid

I would go on hol and take a box of LFT and do one each morning.

I would never listen to the app.

I got pinged yet I had been stuck inside for 3 weeks as I was sick due to a surgery...

So where had I been in contact with someone I don't know.

Honesty just go. The app is flawed anyway! Do lateral flow and let your family enjoy a holiday.

I turned contact tracing off on my app weeks ago - and I'm one of the most law abiding, compliant people you'll ever come across. The app is a farce. If you are sure you've not had close contact with anyone, just ignore it. Do LFTs as a precaution if it makes you feel better but don't cancel your holiday on the back of this.

A friend of mine was a close contact with a positive case an it was 6 days before Test & Trace contacted them to tell them to isolate - so potentially they could have been out and about in all that time! Thankfully they weren't as they knew they were close contact by other means. The whole system is a joke.

I am often in a couple of local cafés and I can confidently say that I have only seen one or two people (including me) check in using the App.

I’m careful and even I’d go on holiday while taking universal precautions and daily lateral flow tests.

Go anyway. Take lft and do them daily.

I was pinged a few weeks ago. I deleted the app, did LFT's for the days I was told to isolate (all negative) and carried on with my planned and much looked forward to weekend.

I've isolated enough.

Obviously if the LFT's had been positive or I felt symptoms it would have been a different story.

I genuinely don't understand why anyone still has this "not fit for purpose" app installed. If you do, then expect to be pinged.

Take a test and go if it's negative. Take a stack with you and test every day if it helps. Please. Find some joy
