People who haven't got the App

156 replies

wordsareveryunnecessary · 22/07/2021 14:01

Lots of people who use the app being "pinged". In our city it's affecting public transport as well as deliveries (as it is in many parts of U.K) .
Just think, people who don't have the app - maybe a high proportion of the elderly population and those who won't use the app. They will never be "pinged " or be told t isolate.

I never had it, don't trust this government not to balls up data security.

waheythisoneisfree · 22/07/2021 17:55

After Monday’s press conference I deleted the app. I’ll isolate if contacted by T&T, I’ve been double jabbed, wear a mask and wash my hands but that’s it. I’ve lost whatever shred of confidence I had this government.

CrunchyCarrot · 22/07/2021 18:00

Don't have a smart phone, so don't have the app. Since I'm housebound I doubt it matters. DP has the app, but works from home and has never been pinged.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 22/07/2021 18:03

@Girlmama3

Where do people go to get pinged?

I deleted the app months ago but I only go to our local shop and occasionally an outside animal park with dd3.

I’m pregnant so avoiding most places at the moment as cases are rife here now.

Is it restaurants and pubs mainly?

I go to the F1 every year but this year decided I wasn't going to risk it at full capacity. I am still in all the camping f1 groups on fb and hundreds of people have been pinged today and yesterday after being at the F1.

I haven't been to any pubs or restaurants but I can imagine that is a huge number too.

LaurieFairyCake · 22/07/2021 18:05

I deleted the app once I was double jabbed (well a couple of weeks after)

People who are double jabbed won't have to after 16th August. I am not taking the risk for the next 3 weeks and think they should bring the date forward.

And I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know so they wouldn't get hold of me

Imnothereforthedrama · 22/07/2021 18:11

@HelloMissus

If any of us are at real risk we’ll be contacted by T&T. An advisory ping that you know no details about is barely ‘information’
Exactly anyone you’ve spent time with you’ll be told . I’ve deleted mine quite frankly I’ve done isolating a few times I’ve had Covid too . If I’m in contact at work I’ll be told if I meet family/ friends I’ll be told . I’m not isolating because someone in a shop or restaurant was near me briefly.
AbsolutelyPatsy · 22/07/2021 18:20

i turned it on out of interest but dont really go anywhere that needs checking in.
i am now isolating due to household positive case so decided to uninstall it again

User5827372728 · 22/07/2021 18:21

I’ve never had the app.

They might be if they are a close known contact.

DH was told by T&T to isolate when I tested positive as I named him, dd and our two friends. All 4 got a call from T&T, it wasn't linked to the app at all.

DH has never had the app - he checks in manually instead.

He can still be contacted via T&T if he is a named contact.
Most people I know who do have the app (for check in) have contact tracing turned off anyway.

Only T&T calls are legally binding anyway.
The app is only advisory.

Abraxan · 22/07/2021 18:44

@DinosaurDiana

I’ve got the app. A work colleague that was in the office Monday and Tuesday got a positive test Wednesday, and I’ve still not been pinged as she doesn’t have the app.
Presumably because they haven't named you yet.

I got a phonecall from T&T the same day my positive test was registered and I also got an email with a link to a form to complete. . All 4 of my named contacts were called the same or next day.
I'd already told them all and they started isolating immediately as all knew they'd be close contacts. They didn't need to wait until someone else told them to do it.

LysistrataVickers · 22/07/2021 18:52

@Lottie4

Sadly, without the app they'll never know if they're at risk of passing it to their loves ones.
😭😭😭 sick of being in a communist state. I'm not having the fucking app.
Toddlerteaplease · 22/07/2021 22:59

We have to have ours switched off. As I work in a hospital. It never gets switched back on. Though outside of work, I'm rarely within two meters of anyone.

Warhertisuff · 22/07/2021 23:05

Unless their loved ones are CEV despite having the vaccine, most people's loved ones are adequately protected.
Warhertisuff · 22/07/2021 23:08

@ivykaty44

also don't give proper details when asked for them

thats I find a silly as its for your own protection

Many people are far more concerned about being required to self-isolate for ten days than they are about getting a virus they had an extremely good chance of surviving, with that chance driven to nearly zero by being vaccinated... I know I am.
PufferFishGoneWrong · 22/07/2021 23:11

We have never installed it and don't plan to, ever!

Harleynotsothin · 22/07/2021 23:14

It never even crossed my mind to get the app.

UmteenthUser · 23/07/2021 06:13

I'm going to the horse racing and music event tonight, if I had the app I could look forward to ten days in isolation because with the amount of people there even though it is outdoors, a lot of people with the app will be pinged.

lifehappened · 23/07/2021 06:27

I deleted it. And enjoying normal life whilst being sensible but not avoiding doing anything.

megletthesecond · 23/07/2021 06:32

I never had the app. I haven't been to restaurant, gym, pub, hairdresser, public transport etc since the pandemic. I still get mostly food collection and deliveries.
I'm in the office one day a week as skeleton staff. We all do LFT's and my boss will let me know if anyone gets a positive.

I can also pick up my neighbours buetooth and didn't fancy risking being pinged thanks to them as we never have anything to do with each other.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 23/07/2021 06:39

What I find astonishing is that people think they have to have the app and that so many downloaded it without question.

ufucoffee · 23/07/2021 06:40

Deleted the app. We leave contact details in pubs and restaurants. Not an issue.

woodfort · 23/07/2021 06:41

I have it but switched contract tracing off some time ago as has DH. The app doesn’t know if you are outside or inside or what the specifics are (not to mention problems like it pinging through walls).

TupilaLilium · 23/07/2021 06:44

I can't believe anyone has the app.

I keep reading the news about this and wondering "who are these people?"

CrouchEndTiger12 · 23/07/2021 06:47

@Lottie4

I don't have the app. I go out to work. I go to the gym. I spend time in friends houses. I live in London and use the tube.

I had the blood antibody test and I have no antibodies. I haven't had it in the last 6 months at least.

It isn't a forgone conclusion that everyone gets it.

I have never heard of anyone being pinged go on to get covud anyway

Whathefisgoingon · 23/07/2021 06:48

@tickingthebox73 what do you mean they “claim” full pay?
