...do you think Johnson is finally losing it?

Assuming he had control in the first place...is it just me Johnson seems to be getting more incomprehensible and wild eyed!? ...999 calls are taking 10 minutes to be answered...Not enough paramedics/health staff available...there may be issues in the supply chain for food...people being pinged lots,... essential workers off isolaging....and numbers of people with the virus going up....would waiting to get everyone jabbed in August have been the sensible option?

@Tealightsandd

The problem with saying we have vaccines now is twofold.

First, AZ is still good and definitely better than no vaccine, but it isn't as effective as the mRNA vaccines (Pfizer and Moderna). Particularly when it comes to the Beta strain. In America, where the majority are having mRNA vaccines, the fully vaccinated are sometimes getting breakthrough infection - but only rarely ill enough to need hospital. And almost 100% of the deaths are in the unvaccinated. AZ are currently working on a booster, tweaked to give better protection against newer strains, so with a bit of luck we'll have that available in the autumn (trial results dependant). A sensible government - one with brains, foresight, and morals - would put in place mitigation measures in the meantime.

Secondly, the majority of the UK population is not fully vaccinated.

The vaccinated people who I see dying in the UK are the CEV patients, for whom vaccines are often ineffective (because they are already immunosupressed).

I’m not saying there are zero non-CEV double-vaccinated people dying, but it isn’t large numbers.

So you'll go to work, spread it around, how utterly responsible of you. Thanks. How many people are you happy to kill?

Rather than judging, why not write to your MP and ask why there's no real support for people that need to isolate? The self isolation payment was purposely designed to help as few people as possible, it needs to be changed.

Poverty kills too.

This. Talk about “Let them eat cake”.

Boris, is the figure head, people here are talking as if he is a dictator.
Each department has someone else in charge, plus the people who actually do the work.
If you feel Boris is not being brought to account maybe you should blaim Labour / Liberal MPs, a group of people we pay for exactly this reason.

adeleh · 23/07/2021 15:19

He is the Prime Minister, so must take overall responsibility for the direction in which all the different departments go.
MPs from different parties do try to bring him to account, maybe not as frequently as one would like in some cases, but they do [note Dawn Butler's performance yesterday. David Lammy. Caroline Lucas is a frequent and eloquent critic]. However, the government that Johnson leads has an 80-seat majority and therefore the power of the opposition is severely curtailed.

It's like the CEO of a company...

They cannot blame the cleaners, the receptionists said r the directors even.

The buck stops with the man at the top.

That "man" (malformed creature) is Boris.

Is there official data on who is dying fully jabbed? I thought it was still high proportion of diabetics - but like with your experience, that's just personal anecdotes.

With immunosuppressed, who might not have as much protection from the vaccine, are UK hospitals using regeneron yet? (Also for any seriously unwell patient). It was very good in trials and has been used in America for a while now.

Poverty kills too.

Yes. It increases the likelihood of Covid death or disability.

Perhaps also ask why it was acceptable (pre, as well as during Covid) to have a system without an adequate safety net for the ill, disabled, and redundant. Perhaps we should have already had in place a decent safety net.

Slightly off topic but related. There's currently a media campaign to keep the £20 a week universal credit uplift. People on legacy benefits never got this. The majority are disabled.
