...do you think Johnson is finally losing it?

Assuming he had control in the first place...is it just me Johnson seems to be getting more incomprehensible and wild eyed!? ...999 calls are taking 10 minutes to be answered...Not enough paramedics/health staff available...there may be issues in the supply chain for food...people being pinged lots,... essential workers off isolaging....and numbers of people with the virus going up....would waiting to get everyone jabbed in August have been the sensible option?

Ok. So please give YOUR plans to solve Covid. We are in a no win place, the same as every country, even New Zealand now has cases on the rise, nothing works 100% and you can't please everyone.
Not so. No cases in New Zealand
PrettyLittleFlies · 22/07/2021 17:46

I'm shocked ched that some posters think every country is in "the same boat". They really aren't. The UK is in a shocking mess. It is difficult to fathom. We all know the UK contains very many clever Oxfordy-type people but right now it appears to be run by a small group of village idiots.

Lemonmelonsun · 22/07/2021 17:50

Pretty I really dislike that term, vi it used to be used to throw at disabled people in the olden days before we became more of enlighten

tara66 · 22/07/2021 17:50

The next General Election is Thursday 2nd May 2024.

Happygirl79 · 22/07/2021 17:50

@LolaSmiles

I think he knows exactly what he is doing: taking orders from his mates who want to get rich.

A free for all over summer is not about the general public. It's about making money.

What's disgusting is that him and his government seem very keen to actively undermine testing and tracing in order to make money happen.

Absolutely spot on!

The scientists at the press conferences are always saying that numbers are doubling every x days and get to scary heights very quickly (exponential growth) Higher the numbers means fewer the choices and quicker the action by a government, the lower the numbers.

You can't compare any rise in Aus and NZ to ours when their base numbers are tiny compared to ours and different cities seem to be quick to have mini lockdowns when they find a case.

If you've been on here then you'll know that there was plenty that could have done. For example last year Noblegiraffe came up with low cost /free Covid mitigations that would help transmission in schools but Bozo insists that schools aren't a problem and perfectly safe and time and time again he has refused to act when school infections go through the roof.
School as 2019 normal in September is insanity and going to lead to a repeat of this school year depending on what variants emerge next. School policy is important as it leads to the parent having to isolate if their child tests positive

Another example is the Covid passport insanity. How can proof of a negative test be worth less than proof of being double jabbed when jabbed people are getting infected and can transmit. We know it's less than how much no jabbed people get infected and transmit but negative test surely means negative at that moment in time

Ha ha blossom, she's definitely noticeable in her absence. One more Dennis Skinner anecdote, in Parliament for donkey's years and never had a drink in the bar of the Commons. "Why not, Mr Skinner?" "Why not, lad? Because my constituents elected me to come here and work on their behalf not to sit around swilling cheap beer subsidised by their taxes". That's an approximate quote but encapsulates the Beast of Bolsover's philosophy. Miss MPs of such quality. And bloody well done Dawn.

Maybe. We had three in four years remember.
subsy1 · 22/07/2021 18:22

Skinner was also suspended for refusing to stop calling PM Cameron "Dodgy Dave".

Well I’ve called 999 4 times in the last week and each time answered within 3 rings

@AuntMasha

I’d imagine there are mutterings afoot in the Tory Party regarding Johnson’s aptitude for chaos, and that there is a plan in place to remove him when the time comes.

Johnson is essentially a nihilist, a wrecking ball and so the country really shouldn’t be surprised that he has no vision, is corrupt and is not up to the job. His weakness is in his need to be popular. As Hesseltine puts it, he “waits to see 'the way the crowd is running then dashes in front”.

Exactly
placemats · 22/07/2021 19:15

It was never his to lose in the first place.

I read somewhere that someone (Dennis Skinner?) said (of Tory MPs) "Half the the members opposite are crooks"

Someone should have reminded him that 3 or 4 Labour MPs were jailed for false accounting only a few years before he said that.

Oh, look - another Labour MP is on trial this week - charged with three counts of fraud;

placemats · 22/07/2021 19:34

And in an not unexpected turn of events five Tory MPs found to have breached code of conduct. Attempted improperly to influence judicial proceedings.

Clavinova · 22/07/2021 19:40

Three of the MPs could be suspended from Parliament for one day.

placemats · 22/07/2021 19:40

Oh but I digress.

This thread is about Prime Minister Johnson.

Who has neither the wit nor the confidence to be prime minister.

But loves his takeaways.

I couldn't possibly speculate on the drinks bill. No doubt someone will spill the (expensive drink of choice).

Dawn Butler and Angela Rayner haven't quite got the same eloquence have they;

3 or 4 as opposed to half? Nice try Clavinova but nowhere near your usual standard. Get your scissors out.

ragged · 22/07/2021 19:57

I am willing to concede that Johnson is a swivel eyed loon but I was not aware that he tried to answer 999 calls.

Clavinova · 22/07/2021 20:02

longwayoff

How many of the half were jailed for fraud?

placemats · 22/07/2021 20:04

@Clavinova

Unable to stick to the topic.

Never a good look.

You are indeed as rubbish as the Prime Minister.

Take a bow. A useless gesture.

except I think Jeremy Corbyn actually has a brain

Apparently not a particularly clever brain;

This country is a mess. The Brexit shambles has caused issues - lack of hospitality staff, HGV drivers, healthcare workers, school support staff.
Boris' lack of leadership is allowing COVID to run rampant and cover the Brexit shambles.
