If you've been out today what has been the general consensus?

Been shopping this afternoon and was so nice albeit really strange to not wear my mask! I hesitated going in at first because it felt like I'd forgotten something!

If you've been out today, what did you find was the general consensus of people around you either wearing or not wearing masks?

I actually didn't see anyone in a mask which surprised me as I thought quite a lot would still wear them!

Then you could get an argument and scene occur. Unless one says - if you don't move or put a mask on I will clear the entire bus by letting a stink bomb off.

The mask wearer is in the wrong and also making threats, how pathetic.

JesusIsAnyNameFree · 19/07/2021 19:48

@Againstmachine

Thankfully everywhere I've been today hasn't been full of selfish cunts who don't care about other people. I'd say 98% still mask wearing

Nope you don't get to do that anymore these people are neither selfish nor cunts, they are doing what they are legally entitled to do.

So how about we don't Chuck names about.

Nah, the poster was pretty spot on.

Mask wearer's fault for causing a scene. How embarrassing for them.

It's been about 60 - 70% non-mask wearing on the four buses I've been on and 50/50 in the shops and supermarkets. I didn't notice any snide looks or confrontations and nobody was challenging anyone. Nobody bothers wearing masks at my gym though the chain I'm with 'encourages' it. It's been like that since it reopened.

Went to a Kent Sainsbury’s today and about 70 to 80% of customers had them on and about half of staff. I think as the week goes on more people will ditch them though when they see more and more people without. Wouldn’t be surprised if it levels out at 50/50.

jaundicedoutlook · 19/07/2021 19:51

Clearly a lot of people think that just because you are allowed to do something then it means you should go right ahead and do it.

treedragon · 19/07/2021 19:51

Maybe not wearing a mask and observing social distancing will become seen as anti-social

HmmmmmmInteresting · 19/07/2021 19:51

Seems about the same proportion of people wearing masks here. I expect that to decrease over the coming days and weeks

bigbluebus · 19/07/2021 19:53

@tealappeal I stood 2m away from the woman in front of me who was paying at the till and the man behind me did the same. Seems that GO have told their staff they no longer need to wear masks though - unless you went to the same store as me! (In a town beginning with S)

Gosh yes, what an insane concept.
Garfunkle · 19/07/2021 19:55

Everyone on the train was wearing a mask this morning. Everyone in work was wearing a mask (except one - who has always wore a mask before). He put a mask on after lunch. I called in Tesco on the way home from work and I didn’t spot anyone not wearing a mask.

It’s heartening to know that people in my area can think for themselves.

Againstmachine · 19/07/2021 19:55

Nah, the poster was pretty spot on.

Imagine being that selfish you want everyone to see your way otherwise they are selfish cunts nope not spot on at all.

tealappeal · 19/07/2021 19:56

@bigbluebus Ah - that explains why they weren't wearing them. Different town (one beginning with B) but good to hear that the attitudes were the same Smile

yikesanotherbooboo · 19/07/2021 19:56

Masks on at work and at the supermarket.

WeWantAMackerelNotASprat · 19/07/2021 19:57

As I left Asda today I heard a couple coming in discussing what to do. So they looked around and said that most were wearing them and then they put theirs on too.

I think that people will get more used to not wearing a mask and they'll end up being fewer and fewer mask wearers

Indigopearl · 19/07/2021 20:00

90% of people in Tesco were wearing them today which is about the same % as last week.

Can I ask those of you who saw limited mask wearing today where about in the country do you live?

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 19/07/2021 20:01

Everyone apart from one staff member had face coverings on when I called in at the shop. Hopefully most people will be sensible and comply with wearing them for a while longer yet

Dumpedwife · 19/07/2021 20:01

I wore a mask to Sainsburys and got called....well actually shouted at, a sheep and a paranoid bitch by someone obviously offended by my choice to wear
a mask.

I work in aviation and our airport and airline will keep masks compulsory for the foreseeable future so I'll be wearing kne at work still every day.

I've grown quite attached to it. I no longer have to worry so much about my customer service face when dealing with twats! Grin

Chillychangchoo · 19/07/2021 20:02

@Carrotcakeforbreakfast

I’ve seen it at work but not in supermarkets. Since it became mandatory most people just wore them correctly.

Anyhow, I like a quiet life and I’m pretty sure some people might get aggressive over it so I’ll probably just stick one on so I don’t get a black eye 🤣

toocold54 · 19/07/2021 20:02

I will continue to wear a mask as long as necessary but it’s nice not having to worry incase I forget it anytime.
I also won’t judge anyone not wearing one as for all I know they could be exempt.

AlexaShutUp · 19/07/2021 20:04

Most people were sensible in the city where I work. Saw very few people without masks. I think it's only a small minority who are selfish enough to put others at risk.

Smashedavacado · 19/07/2021 20:07

Went to M & S, Sainsbury's & Next today. Pleased to say if felt as safe as before with very much the majority wearing masks. Covid rates are rising rapidly locally so definitely don't feel it's time to unmask. The only "freedom day" benefit for me was being able to try on clothes in Next Smile

Buzzinwithbez · 19/07/2021 20:10

It was about 70 percent mask in Tesco. I didn't wear one and was a bit Hmm by how close a staff member came.

actiongirl1978 · 19/07/2021 20:11

In a very naice part of the southwest.

Bakery this morning - all in masks

V v naice seafood restaurant - still had to check in and sign asking us to wear a mask - everyone wearing them walking around inside.

BUT

I want to stop wearing them but I won't be the person that does it.

Tanfastic · 19/07/2021 20:12

@Againstmachine

I think as more see others not wearing compliance will go down.

I agree.
