Anyone any idea if this is going to be anything dramatic or just a 'be careful' pep talk?

Isn't white coat syndrome more about things like blood pressure going through the roof? Veins going into hiding? Raised heart beat etc. I'm sure I've had medics tell me that when those things happen every single time.

It is.

Tinydancer321 · 19/07/2021 19:53

Guys don’t argue about vaccines. Everyone has a right to choose! You wouldn’t of forced people to have a flu jab.
Personally I think vaccines protect our selves more than others, I don’t think it’s improving transmission amazingly…. Numbers are high.
What we are doing at the moment is trying to make everyone who hasn’t had it catch it, then we can’t be clear for 6-9 months, see the numbers decrease. Boris will say it’s down to the vaccine (it will be Down to us building a short term immunity). They they willl decide we don’t need to know numbers any more. Then we won’t be told any more….

AlmostSummer21 · 19/07/2021 19:53
@AlmostSummer21 Usually its a big red flag when a young person goes out in a distressed state. ................well it was pre Covid.
Why have you posted that? I asked why he doesn't want the vaccine, which is nothing to do with your comment???

NothinHappensAfterTwo · 19/07/2021 19:54

It isn't "so many" who have been double jabbed though. Yes there are some but the majority are unvaccinated.

He understands the figures. He’s just had enough of the shite. He’s angry that despite all of us following all of the rules that so many of the government found too hard, he still won’t be able to go to a fucking concert with me in November because testing isn’t enough. His double vaccinated work colleague is in hospital, under 40, nothing underlying. He’s allowed to think it’s pointless. We’re both past caring now.

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 19/07/2021 19:54

@MercyBooth how exactly? I just think vaccination is the way forward and I feel no sympathy who don't want it (with exceptions to those who genuinely can't have it)
What is wrong with that?

MercyBooth · 19/07/2021 19:55

@AlmostSummer21 That was your reaction to a poster whose young son left the house in a distressed state.

UmteenthUser · 19/07/2021 19:55

I'm going to get a refund on my concert tickets which I can as they are postponed events, don't fancy going if we have to show a passport, also it is coercion to have all the boosters, I had 2 jabs but don't fancy another in the Autumn just in case because Boris says so. I don't go to pubs and nightclubs anyway

WingingItSince1973 · 19/07/2021 19:56

@Gladimnotcampinginthisweather

Boris reminds me of Ben on Outnumbered.
Oh my days yes!!!! 🤣
MercyBooth · 19/07/2021 19:56

@Carrotcakeforbreakfast Vaccination yes. Coercion .............no

This wont help the NHS when you want public support.................ahhhhh

MrsWarleggan · 19/07/2021 19:56

FWIW re numbers in hospital who have been double jabbed. A friend is a consultant at a trust in SE and with the exception of 3 or 4 cases the rest are people who have gone in for other procedures and have subsequently tested positive, not in specifically for covid.

Nocutenamesleft · 19/07/2021 19:58

@XenoBitch

I have severe medical phobia.

But my drs can converse with my husband when I need to speak with them. Most drs are allowed to do that. So if someone is severely phobic of either needles. Or doctors. There are ways around it.

JesusIsAnyNameFree · 19/07/2021 19:59

@IcedPurple

we're the only European nation with a binge drinking culture,

You've clearly never been to any of the Nordic countries.

They do not have the same drinking culture we do here, not even close.
NothinHappensAfterTwo · 19/07/2021 19:59

Thanks for this. Elton John was meant to be last year so I should be able to get a refund. 👍

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 19/07/2021 20:00

I couldn't disagree with you more.

But if the support for the NHS is from the likes of you, I'm not sure I want it.

Honestly mumsnet at times.
My 7 yo ds is more mature than a lot of the posters on here.

You have a husband. I live alone and don't see anyone for weeks at a time.

MercyBooth · 19/07/2021 20:02

@Carrotcakeforbreakfast When i worked in retail if i had put a video up on Twitter calling the customers idiots i wouldnt have had a job the next day

The right talk about the deserving/non deserving poor and the left talk about the deserving/ non deserving NHS patient. Quite a disturbing parallel

XenoBitch · 19/07/2021 20:02

@ChardonnaysPetDragon

What other phobias do you think people should just get over?

If a phobia makes you struggle with everyday life, and needles are part and parcel of medical treatment, not just vaccines, also blood tests and injections, then you should at least try and have some help for that. There are options.

Depends if you think you are worth the help. I don't. That is also part of my complex MH issues. A phobia is a tiny part if it.
JesusIsAnyNameFree · 19/07/2021 20:04

@NothinHappensAfterTwo

Well maybe this isn’t having the desired effect after all. My partner who has had 1 jab, waiting for the next has just said, ‘being as so many of those in hospital have been double jabbed and I don’t like people basically being forced to be vaccinated, I might not have my second jab’. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Well done BoJo, you big twat.
So he's being awkward for the sake of being awkward. Not sure Boris is the one who should be called a twat.

It is for my mum. She feels fine in herself seeing a doc, but her body says no, and does all the things you have described.

I do not feel fine seeing a doc. I go into fight or flight. No chance for them to even get my BP. Believe me, I feel stupid as hell considering I used to take it from others as part of my job.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 19/07/2021 20:06

But isn't medical help worth it? Not the vaccine, but what happens if you need to go hospital and have tests done. Surely that's worth it. You are worth it.

peepopeepopeepo · 19/07/2021 20:07

He’s allowed to think it’s pointless.

He can think whatever he likes as long as he doesn't mind the fact that he is provably wrong. It isn't pointless - the evidence for that is black and white.

Tealightsandd · 19/07/2021 20:07

What you need to know is how many people are infected and of those how many are in hospital as well as what that proportion was pre vaccine

We also need to know which vaccines the double jabbed in hospital had.

This is particularly important now that we're facing the threat of the Beta strain, which is already in France. Astrazeneca is potentially not effective against Beta (and it's less effective than Pfizer and Moderna against Delta).

In America, where the majority have been given mRNA vaccines (Pfizer and Moderna) almost 100% of the deaths are in the unvaccinated.

SupermanWithTheGreyHair · 19/07/2021 20:07

Carrotcakeforbreakfast

You should be ashamed of your comments. That Tuesday thing sounded about right.

lovescats3 · 19/07/2021 20:08

This idea of a vaccine passport to enter a night club doesn't make sense as you can still catch it if you are vaccinated- a test on the day is more logical- maybe this government are saying this to see how the public react.
