Anyone any idea if this is going to be anything dramatic or just a 'be careful' pep talk?

OP posts:
Naaaaah · 19/07/2021 19:35

Access to nhs medical care restricted exclusively to the vaccinated will be the next step.

Aloethere · 19/07/2021 19:36

@XenoBitch

I have to say I am a bit hmm at all these needle phobic people, are they the same people who couldn't wear a mask because they were too anxious for that? There are some right soft people around that's for sure

Oh, I must do your head in then.. mask exempt with a needle phobia. I am not soft... just had some awful things happen to me during my lifetime.

You don't do my head in, I'm not in a country where people don't wear masks so it has no effect on me whatsoever if the unmasked are the same as the unvaxxed, it is just unsurprising that's all.

Awful things happen to a heck of a lot of people XenoBitch, you certainly aren't unique there unfortunately. I hope you can get the help you need to start moving away from your past.

Canigooutyet · 19/07/2021 19:36

The booster raises an interesting question.
It will be given to specific groups from September iirc. So what happens to all those who have had 2 vaccines and not eligible for the booster, they get their passport revoked? Have to pay for the booster to keep your passport?

XenoBitch · 19/07/2021 19:36
@xenobitch like previous posters have said, you could be medicated to receive the vax while phobic, but anti vaxxers will always find an excuse why they are the exception I guess
I am also not an anti-vaxxer.... I used to work for the NHS, so had all of the required jabs.

peepopeepopeepo · 19/07/2021 19:36

Oh yes, definitely, and then anyone who is unvaccinated will be locked inside their house under armed guard 🙄

peepopeepopeepo · 19/07/2021 19:37

I thought you had a needle phobia.

@MercyBooth

I dont drink (im 48 and have NEVER been drunk) I dont smoke or do drugs. I dont sunbathe I HATE summer.

I dont go to nightclubs or pubs or restaurants. I have never been to a gig or a festival. My life and the amount of people i mix with is tiny. Im not saying no to the vaccine Except the AZ.

Lots of drop/walk ins centres are now choose, and many aren't even offering AZ anymore unless it's a second dose, as the main eligible group now are under 30s. The two Dd have been too have both asked people at the door which vaccine they'd prefer (if first jab and over 30.) the one she went to last weekend, almost everyone chose Pfizer, one chose Moderna, a couple said they didn't mind. The walk in DD's friend went to only had Pfizer and Moderna.

So might be worth finding a walk in if you're happy to have the others and asking them at the door.

I thought you had a needle phobia.

Life throws curveballs. I also spent hours at the end of the day at the occupational health department with 2 nurses to make sure I had the jabs.
tigger1001 · 19/07/2021 19:39

@GirlAloud

Oh dear!

All the people who thought they could get away with not be vaccinated themselves for spurious reasons (‘needle-phobia’ Hmm) while enjoying the benefits of everyone else being jabbed are now squealing as they realise that their selfishness might have real-world consequences!

What a shame Grin.

Why is being needle phobic a spurious reason? Do you understand phobias?

There is a big difference between someone not liking needles and someone being phobic.

What other phobias do you think people should just get over?

peepopeepopeepo · 19/07/2021 19:40

Life throws curveballs.

I mean yes, presumably covid being one of them.

Not in my case. But I am done repeating myself, because people just tell me to get a grip, or suck it up anyway.
Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 19/07/2021 19:41

@NothinHappensAfterTwo you think you know me? Grin Confused okay then.

NothinHappensAfterTwo · 19/07/2021 19:41

Well maybe this isn’t having the desired effect after all. My partner who has had 1 jab, waiting for the next has just said, ‘being as so many of those in hospital have been double jabbed and I don’t like people basically being forced to be vaccinated, I might not have my second jab’. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Well done BoJo, you big twat.

MercyBooth · 19/07/2021 19:41

@Abraxan Ta.

PoppenhuisStories · 19/07/2021 19:41

In some countries, schools won’t accept children without evidence they have received all the usual vaccinations. I think it’s fair enough to have people prove their vaccination status, although there should be an exception for people with a legitimate reason such as (a well documented) needle phobia.

NothinHappensAfterTwo · 19/07/2021 19:42

Carrotcakeforbreakfast

Lol. How old are you? Do you get out much?

A lot of needle phobia is not documented as it often goes hand in hand with medical phobia... which means people with those phobias avoid any medical care. So their doctors do not know about it.
MercyBooth · 19/07/2021 19:44

@Carrotcakeforbreakfast Attitudes like yours and the same attitudes from NHS accounts on Twitter are going to seriously backfire.

Understand the second point On the first I guess he didn't pay attention to the stats behind the numbers More fool him
MercyBooth · 19/07/2021 19:45

I think its called white coat syndrome.

NothinHappensAfterTwo · 19/07/2021 19:46

He’s no fool. I think he’s just had enough, like so many tonight.

peepopeepopeepo · 19/07/2021 19:47

It isn't "so many" who have been double jabbed though. Yes there are some but the majority are unvaccinated.

bumblingbovine49 · 19/07/2021 19:48
@CrunchyCarrot I feel like I'm going mad here- half the cases and people in hospital fully vaccinated yet you'll need to prove you're vaccinated to go to a club it makes no sense! why on earth couldn't you have a negative test? People are still clearly getting and passing on covid whilst double jabbed so I'm absolutely baffled.
Half of.people in hospital are vaccinated is half the information you need.

What you need to know is how many people are infected and of those how many are in hospital as well as what that proportion was pre vaccine

If for example we had 70,000 infections and 1,000 hospitalisations post vaccination , that is a hell of a lot less proportionately than 4,000 hospitalisations out of 70,000 infections ( for example) pre vaccination

If all.of those 70,000 are vaccinated because everyone in the country is vaccinated ( say) then all 1,000 hospitalisations will be in vaccinated people. At the same.time you can still say that vaccinations have reduced hospitalisations by 75%

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 19/07/2021 19:49

What other phobias do you think people should just get over?

If a phobia makes you struggle with everyday life, and needles are part and parcel of medical treatment, not just vaccines, also blood tests and injections, then you should at least try and have some help for that. There are options.
