Anyone any idea if this is going to be anything dramatic or just a 'be careful' pep talk?

OP posts:
Polmuggle · 19/07/2021 16:17

It's just the planned freedom day announcement isn't it?

OrchestraOfWankery · 19/07/2021 16:21

Will watch purely for JVT!

leafyygreens · 19/07/2021 16:34

Yet some scientists are saying there's evidence the vaccine stops children's immune system developing properly. No way in hell my almost 13 yr old Dd will be vaccinated. Nor my 9 yr old DS.

Who is saying this @MrsArchchancellorRidcully?

There's certainly reasons not to roll out the vaccination programme to non-vulnerable children but I doubt this is one of them

ineedaholidaynow · 19/07/2021 16:40

Talking about vaccines on BBC Parliament now. Interesting that Parliament is still doing SD

Downtown36 · 19/07/2021 16:42

He’s achieved what he wanted - to make it so that masks/restrictions are no longer enforceable but shops / businesses are choosing to continue with them because of how scared they now are… he’s probably going to congratulate us all!

Wildewoodz · 19/07/2021 16:47

Alas. Caution. Fantastic. Vaccines. Waffle. Vaccines. Piffle. That’s a good question. Vaccines. May the odds be ever in your favour. Walk off.

Jellypisher · 19/07/2021 16:51

I think it will be the announcement of the NHS 3% pay rise, and that NHS staff will be exempt from isolating going forwards.

A gesture because he's literally just thrown every health and social care department over a very large cliff with "Freedom Day"

Osrie · 19/07/2021 17:03

You know that workplace pilot scheme we dreamt up, well you’re all in it now, well you’re not in it really but we are because we’re more important than you obviously, but you can be in it if you want to but it will cost employees hundred quid and employers a thousand per 4 employees.

Lupinhere37 · 19/07/2021 17:06

@Wildewoodz ….you missed “I must level with you”. He loves that phrase. I’m surprised he’s never resorted to “Godspeed”.
I think he thinks he’s starring in a Hollywood Blockbuster during these press conferences.

jgw1 · 19/07/2021 17:07

@MagpiePi

...and then announcing that all legal restrictions on speed limits will be lifted because we can all assess the risk and make up our own minds about how fast to drive. Some people might die or be seriously injured, but....FREEDOM!!
Why stop at speed limits? Surely they will announce that all legal restrictions will be lifted and paying taxes will be optional as it is for their mates who they keep handing money to from our taxes.
Jellypisher · 19/07/2021 17:07

If not now, when?

Number well within the margins of what the Scientists Predicted

Proceeding cautiosly

Pandemic far from over.

the80sweregreat · 19/07/2021 17:08

He looks poorly again.

Jellypisher · 19/07/2021 17:11

@the80sweregreat he does doesn't he, I suspect he may have been reinfected sadly.

gardeninggirl68 · 19/07/2021 17:12

he's saying venues will need proof of double vaccine.....but some people dont trust/want it? how will that work?

marieantoinehairnet · 19/07/2021 17:12

Eurgh god I hate him, he's smirk today is awful

CrunchyCarrot · 19/07/2021 17:13

Did he just say that by the end of September we'd need to be fully vaccinated in order to go to a nightclub or other venues with crowds? Can't recall if he said pubs or not. He said a negative test would no longer be acceptable.

rosie1959 · 19/07/2021 17:13

I expect they won’t be allowed in
marieantoinehairnet · 19/07/2021 17:13

He's selling us up the river on this, the rest of the world think we are nuts

Fruityfriday · 19/07/2021 17:13

He looks very pale and poorly

gardeninggirl68 · 19/07/2021 17:13

yes he said that!!

CrunchyCarrot · 19/07/2021 17:14

Blimey. He's doing a Macron only without the 'negative test is OK but you'll have to pay for it'.

JemimaMoon · 19/07/2021 17:15

@the80sweregreat

He looks poorly again.
Totally agree - if both him and Javid have it and are double vaxxed, that is NOT a good look forward their world beating vaccine roll out!

He watches Morgan Freeman telling America the meteorite named after Frodo is coming before every presser.

ineedaholidaynow · 19/07/2021 17:17

I don't think he has looked well since he had COVID

marieantoinehairnet · 19/07/2021 17:18

Can anyone tell me why it's ok for people to go clubbing and spread this disease but it's not ok for hundreds of thousands of children who aren't infected to go to school this week - what did our children do to deserve this kind of contempt for their existence. Ok to not be vacc'd, ok to get long covid, ok to miss out on education - all so the ungrateful masses can go clubbing, save Pret and to attend super spreader events
