Anyone any idea if this is going to be anything dramatic or just a 'be careful' pep talk?

@Marmitemarinaded

In addition to allergies mentioned in the green book I also have something rare. Before the allergy stuff was discovered, because of the rare stuff I was advised against by my consultant.
www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-the-green-book-chapter-14a

If it's introduced it also ignores natural immunity. I still have antibodies from when I had the virus at the very beginning of all this crap. Which was also another exemption.

Will also hold more parties at home. Private property so I can do as I please right?

Cornettoninja · 19/07/2021 19:10

This isn’t anything as sophisticated as 1984, this is Idiocracy.

jgw1 · 19/07/2021 19:12

@ElliottSmithsfingers

Another one who's vaccinated but very uncomfortable with pushing vaccines on people who (for whatever reason, it's none of my business) don't want to have them. Obligatory tests - fine; obligatory vaccines - not ok. This would be a very dangerous precedent.
If they had told me that I would have to show my vaccine status to go about my life earlier, then I would not have had the vaccine.
Blinky21 · 19/07/2021 19:14

Needle phobia! Well I have a phobia of my CEV father dying because of selfish anti vaxxers. It's your choice not to get it, but then it's your choice not to participate in a society you've done nothing to protect

XenoBitch · 19/07/2021 19:14
@InFiveMins but surely if the health anxiety is so severe... then reducing the risk of being severely unwell with covid by having a vaccination is the lesser of the two evils in their eyes.
I speak as someone who doesn't have health anxiety but I know what I would rather.
Anxiety is not rational. So this "lesser of the two evils" speak does not work when someone has severe anxiety.

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 19/07/2021 19:15

**I live on a social housing estate. If there was a big vaccine bus come round here and they said "get your jab so you can go on holiday" they would be laughed at. You cant really threaten people with losing something they already lost due to austerity/cuts.

....

I never mentioned holidays other than people don't moan so much about having those kind of vaccines.
Yes I understand the cuts/ some people have nothing to lose which is wrong and a whole other topic, but maybe I thought most people would apply a little logic. Regardless of their demographic.

Lawrence Fox can afford to go away etc yet he is still being a total cock about covid.
I'm not convinced it is all about the demographic at all. Most people I know who have refused the vaccine are well educated, good jobs etc.

CocktailNapkin · 19/07/2021 19:15

This is a slippery, slippery slope to potential serious unrest. Im CEV and double jabbed and while I may not agree with those choosing to not have the vax, I absolutely do not condone the state potentially dictating like this, either directly or indirectly. People are fed up, tired, and wound up no matter who you are and your stand on the vaccine. This could really spark the tinder and finally get everyone on the same side for once, against the government!

Aw, bless you for not living with a severe phobia. Worrying about your CEV father dying is rational. A phobia is not.
MercyBooth · 19/07/2021 19:16

Lawrence Fox is a bit of an idiot.

MercyBooth · 19/07/2021 19:17

My 71 year old DH is CEV. Has COPD and ischemic heart disease. He is pissed off at being patronized.

I have to say I am a bit Hmm at all these needle phobic people, are they the same people who couldn't wear a mask because they were too anxious for that? There are some right soft people around that's for sure.
AlmostSummer21 · 19/07/2021 19:19

@crapshow

My 18 year old son is now at breaking point. He has had all the usual rites of passage torn away from him, a shit Uni experience locked in a room unable to socialize like a human being, no normal human relationship allowed to develop and on and on. He does not want the vaccine and has just said he will be forced to just "live". Has gone out in tears so I'll be worrying now for the rest of the night. It's fucking scandalous what they are doing. As others have said we are now living in a "dystopian society" and a "George Orwell" novel. Maybe my son is right. If they restrict you "living" what is the actual point?
Why doesn't he want the vaccine?
XenoBitch · 19/07/2021 19:20

Oh, I must do your head in then.. mask exempt with a needle phobia. I am not soft... just had some awful things happen to me during my lifetime.

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 19/07/2021 19:20

@XenoBitch well in that case I would imagine that a well documented history of such high level anxiety might be considered for exemption.
I think it would have to be well documented though. Or else every Tom, Dick and Harry will be racing to the GP for an exemption so they can go clubbing.

peepopeepopeepo · 19/07/2021 19:21

Maybe one day, it would be mandatory to have something done to you that you absolutely freak out about.

So don't have one then, no one is forcing you to. Businesses are well within their rights to refuse you entry on that basis though.

Oh, but do go on and bleat away about how it is creating a two tier society and how it is exactly like Rosa Parks on the bus, apartheid, Gilead and so on and so forth. Absolute insulting nonsense. Some in this country just love to appropriate other people's oppression.

My Dad arrived here as a refugee in the seventees, having been booted out of his own country at the hands of an ACTUAL dictatorship, which saw several of his friends and family members shot in the street.

FWIW, I happen to think vaccine passports are nonsense. But I also have no sympathy with people who refuse them.

And I definitely think those who are feeling outraged and/or distressed by the idea of vaccine passports need to brace themselves for what climate change will bring, in our lifetime, certainly I our children's lifetimes. Most of you will look back and wonder WTF you were complaining about WRT bloody vaccine passports.

Some awful things can happen to a person that their GP does not know about. Not everything has a paper trail.

MercyBooth · 19/07/2021 19:23

@AlmostSummer21 Usually its a big red flag when a young person goes out in a distressed state. ................well it was pre Covid.

HmmmmmmInteresting · 19/07/2021 19:23

@unwuthering

Best thing I’ve read in 5 years on here!

Oh, thanks. That's cheered me up!

I liked it too
MaxNormal · 19/07/2021 19:23

Carrotcakeforbreakfast it would be quite nice if they actually gave us some clarity about the exemptions, because this is cruel, I'm really not coping well right now. I know I should step away from MN/social media but that won't unhappen what is happening Sad

MercyBooth · 19/07/2021 19:24

@crapshow Do you have contact nos for his friends?

Canigooutyet · 19/07/2021 19:25

If they are going to do this then surely they should do it for flu? It's not like people aren't dying from this. let's include other illnesses because recovery can be long for those as well.

Hospitals can also be crowded places.

Abraxan · 19/07/2021 19:25

@gardeninggirl68

he's saying venues will need proof of double vaccine.....but some people dont trust/want it? how will that work?
Guess if they don't want the vaccine then they take the consequences which comes with that des]cision. This will mean things like not being able to go to a nightclub, to some countries around the world and to some other crowded venues.

There’s some right arses on here, best ignored. Hope you’re ok.

Honestly this argument is reductive nonsense and completely ignores the evidence of the impact of covid across the globe.

If you don’t get what the issue is now you’re never going to.
