I know it’s been deemed “freedom day” but I personally will continue wearing my mask at work, shops and public transport which I use regularly.
I will also continue to maintain social distancing where possible.
Still feel like im going to be treading very carefully.
I’d be to nervous to go to a nightclub I think at this stage. Not that I get chance anyway 🤣

Not much different, regardless of whether it's freedom day cases are still sky rocketing, so I will continue to wear a mask 8n shops etc, I haven't been to a night club in years so I'm not goi g to start now.

StartingGrid · 19/07/2021 08:08

I have the day off, not specifically for this, I'll still be wearing a mask in public when I go anywhere though. I've not yet had my second jab but have been bombarded with texts to do so over the last few days!

CrouchEndTiger12 · 19/07/2021 08:09

Night clubs are fresh hell not in a pandemic. Why anyone would want to go there after uni is beyond me.

Feel great actually about this freedom day.

Kate3150 · 19/07/2021 08:10

I just remember when Boris announced the “route out of lockdown” there was a lot of excitement around “freedom day” but doesn’t feel much different now we’ve actually arrived at today.

Excited for parkrun and festivals to resume :)

I'm on my way to get my second jab and go to the office and everyone is wearing a mask on the train, I'll continue to wear my mask on public transport and in shops that request it.

Overthebow · 19/07/2021 08:12

Very happy about restrictions going. It’s now what it should be, personal choice to do what you feel comfortable with.

SuperstoreFan · 19/07/2021 08:14

What's there to be excited about? The numbers are sky rocketing, my husband's manager is being an absolute twat and I can't shake the feeling that we are in for a really rough time.

littlepeas · 19/07/2021 08:16

I’m wondering what it will be like. We’re on holiday in Cornwall and off to the zoo in a minute! I’m very relaxed about the whole thing but don’t want to catch it over the next week as I don’t want our break to be ruined and my 2nd jab is on Sunday. I strongly dislike masks but have worn one throughout - I think I will mainly treat each situation individually and ‘read the room’ when it comes to wearing one or not.

It wouldn’t be the end of the world if we caught it over the summer tbh - none of us are vulnerable and it wouldn’t disrupt the dc’s education. I’m guessing this is what Boris, etc are planning.

ILookAtTheFloor · 19/07/2021 08:19

I feel good.

Wish the isolation rules would change but trying my hardest to prevent any isolations, as much as I can.

Fastforwardtospring · 19/07/2021 08:19

No different to last 18 months, as a family we are having to isolate, waiting on a PCR test, if negative, DC still has to isolate until this coming Saturday. Freedom day doesn’t start for many yet, and when it does as a family will remain cautious.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 19/07/2021 08:21

Happy about restrictions going in the summer, I think cases are going to spiral as people mix but hopefully the nhs will cope and deaths will be minimal.

Looking forward to ditching the mask. I am concerned that we are going to have a mental health crisis as so many people have been terrified into submission and are bad at judging personal risk.

twinmum86 · 19/07/2021 08:23

Nothing much changing here as we really want to avoid isolation before our (UK) holiday.

'Freedom day' makes the chances of isolation higher for my husband who has to use public transport for work so me and my preschool age children will be taking as few risks as possible to counter it. Luckily the weather is gorgeous so we can do lots of outdoor things :)

ISaidDontLickTheBin · 19/07/2021 08:24

Nothing's actually changed for us yet! 2 kids in nursery so still the threat of isolations for close contact. My second jab isn't for another 2 weeks so none of the 'double jabbed' freedoms yet. Our workplaces, nursery and the places we tend to go for leisure have all already emailed to say that they won't be changing anything yet on terms of masks, distancing etc

VanGoSunflowers · 19/07/2021 08:25

I feel like I want to hide Sad

Not anxious about catching Covid. Anxious about being around other people. They said that lockdown would become the new normal. This is so accurate that I don’t feel ready for the old normal!

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 19/07/2021 08:28

On my way to Butlins by train. To a holiday that seemed like a good idea when cases were lower. With a rising sense of unease and my mask still on.

dementedma · 19/07/2021 08:29

In Scotland, no change here. However despite all the rules and regulations we still have the highest rate of infection per head of population in the UK, so not sure what the point of it all is.

Wakeupin2022 · 19/07/2021 08:30

The same as I felt yesterday and the same I will feel tomorrow.

I think the high number of cases has taken the shine of it but it is what it is. I am glad we are moving forward.

I will still wear masks and socially distance but as a family x 4 where 2 of us are double jabbed and 2 x primary children I don't feel particularly worried.

Ifitquacks · 19/07/2021 08:33

Nothing changed for me really. I avoid public transport and shops as much as possible anyway because I really struggle with wearing masks but don’t want to go without one due to the judgement, and I don’t see that changing any time soon. Will be nice not to have a legal limit on the number of people I can have in my own home though.

RubaDubMum89 · 19/07/2021 08:37

No different to yesterday really.
The only place I won't be continuing to wear my mask is at work - I work in a restaurant kitchen and over this weekend especially the temperatures have been so high, many of us back there were feeling faint and unable to breathe properly. However, we rapid flow test regularly, no kitchen staff are vulnerable and we temp check on the way in.

Everywhere else I go indoors I'm more than happy to carry on wearing a mask!

CoffeeWithCheese · 19/07/2021 08:40

Hot. Sticky. Planning to not socially distance from this fan at all for the entire day.

OceanTurtles · 19/07/2021 08:40

No different. Will continue to wear a mask where one is needed.

The 'freedom day' is for the government. No more blaming them.

ifonly4 · 19/07/2021 08:43

Feeling a bit anxious here - I need to go to Tescos. Waiting until 9am now so quieter after school rush, but not looking forward to the possibility of having someone standing right behind me in the queue with no mask on.

I'm very lucky in that my friends want to meet outside in gardens (we have done one cafe at my suggestion), two are vulnerable and still adapting to seeing others.

lynsey91 · 19/07/2021 08:43

Worried about the numbers going up even higher than they already are.

I won't be going anywhere for a few days and, when I do, I will almost definitely wear a mask.

I will still go food shopping but am not eating out if restaurants are not keeping distance between tables.

Also people had better not go back to get so close you can feel their breath or they will be getting a mouthful from me

changingstages · 19/07/2021 08:52

Pretty incredulous that they haven't backtracked on this yet and wondering how long it will take...

Ifitquacks · 19/07/2021 08:55

A mouthful of what? Covid?
