Anyone else still never had a test?

I don't know if this is rare or even if I'm doing something wrong by not having tested. However, since the beginning of the pandemic the only time I've had symptoms was at the very beginning when you couldn't get a test (even then I only had very mild symptoms that didn't exactly fit the description). I've not been told to test by track and trace. I've not been required by work to test and I've not travelled overseas. So I guess the only reason I would have tested is for non-symptomatic testing. I'm not sure whether we're all supposed to be doing that regularly?

Just wondered if I've missed something or whether it's unusual not to have tested ever?

DH has never tested. DD and I do our LFTs twice a week and primary age DC has had two as has been admitted to hospital twice.

GintyMcGinty · 12/07/2021 09:42

My husband hasn't had a test.
I've had one negative test.
Son has had several negatives.

I still don't no anyone who has had COVID.

EileenGC · 12/07/2021 09:45

@CrunchyCarrot

Nope never tested. And I've had Covid! Asymptomatically, though, caught from my DP who did have a PCR test, which was negative. Clearly a false negative!
How do you know you had Covid then? If none of you tested positive on tests? Did you both have strong antibodies on a later blood test?
CorporeSarnie · 12/07/2021 09:46

Been testing twice a week on lfts for the last year since was allowed to go back to work premises PT. Also because have kids in school, lfts done as advised for families of schoolchildren. We've done the odd PCR when the Zoe app recommended it based on mild symptoms. All negative but that it is the point of asymptomatic testing. All pharmacies have home lft kits, it costs nothing except five minutes twice a week. Don't understand why people aren't bothering really except for their tinfoil hat wearing/apathy.

CorporeSarnie · 12/07/2021 09:47

And I've known many many people with covid, including some who have been fairly unwell.

BigWoollyJumpers · 12/07/2021 09:48

I have one, last summer, when I caught a really bad summer cold, resulting in a cough, a PCR which was negative.

I have not taken any LFT's, and don't have the T&T app, so never pinged.

DH hasn't taken any tests at all. DD took some LFT's earlier in the year for school, but now she is broken up, hasn't taken any for a while.

No cases in school, so no extra testing required.

BunsyGirl · 12/07/2021 09:48

Never been tested. Had suspected Covid in Feb/March 20 but wasn’t eligible for a test despite being quite ill. It went through my DCs school again in December. I had the tiniest of runny noses as did my DCs so I suspect that was Covid again but not eligible for a test then either. One of my DS had a temp a couple of months ago and was tested (negative) but that’s it for our house!

Zerogravity · 12/07/2021 09:48

Me. I have never knowingly been in close contact with someone who had it, never had to do it for travel or work. My kids have all done several!

BigWoollyJumpers · 12/07/2021 09:50

Don't understand why people aren't bothering really except for their tinfoil hat wearing/apathy

Or it could be that there was never a reason to test!

CrunchyCarrot · 12/07/2021 10:07

I'm confused? So your husband had it but he tested negative and you have had it but never been tested? How do you know just curious

We both had antibody tests some months later, and both tested positive. We figured that my DP had had Covid at the time (it was very mild) and I must've caught it and had it asymptomatically. That was the only explanation that made any sense.

Greenrubber · 12/07/2021 10:13

@CrunchyCarrot

Ahh Well that makes sense i couldn't work it out Smile

CrunchyCarrot · 12/07/2021 10:16

I was quite confused as well for a time, it was only by chance we had the antibody tests! That's why I think quite a lot of people will have had Covid and not even known they did.

Thoughtcontagion · 12/07/2021 10:17

So LFT for work and then one PCR via work as in a surge area at time.

Not done at test or anyone in the house due to having symptoms though

Well maybe because we don't have kids in school or need to do it for work? The two reasons you ARE doing it?

Me neither. Only had two tests for DC, both time due to temperatures, and one of those times was positive for covid.

EBearhug · 12/07/2021 10:34

No. Work from home, live alone, no plans to go abroad, never had symptoms to date.

80sMum · 12/07/2021 10:39

I had a test last summer, as part of the Zoe app research. I haven't had any tests since then. I've got a couple of packs of LF tests at home but they're still unopened. I don't feel there's any need to be testing myself as I very rarely go anywhere where I could be exposed to the virus.

Topseyt · 12/07/2021 10:39

No tinfoil hat here. I've just never had a reason to test. Do you understand that?

Mindymomo · 12/07/2021 10:47

DH had to be tested last April whilst in hospital as he needed to be transferred to another hospital who also tested him on arrival. DS1 and myself have never tested, but DS2 has had 3 PCR tests since returning to work last October and now does weekly LFT due to his work colleagues not understanding isolation rules and still going to work whilst waiting for PCR results.

RedRiverShore · 12/07/2021 10:47

We are retired and haven't got any reason to randomly test, it not really something that I think about,.

stitchmaker85 · 12/07/2021 10:54

I've never done a test, never had any symptoms or close contacts so no need. DH does LFTs twice weekly for work, all negative.

I'm certainly not a tin foil hat wearer Hmm just following the guidance for need for testing (in this case, no need!)

Katefoster · 12/07/2021 10:54

I've never had a proper test just LFs

Buzzinwithbez · 12/07/2021 11:02

I've the current symptoms on and off, headache, sneezing etc... But they aren't unusual for me.

But they aren't listed as eligible for a test.

I

Dustyboots · 12/07/2021 11:15

I’ve not had any symptoms of Covid. But also our local testing centre is heaving a lot of the time. Quiet now. I’ve always felt I’m likely to catch Covid there so would have avoided it.

The LFTs don’t work.

AnyFucker · 12/07/2021 11:20

No, never had a PCR
