Anyone else still never had a test?

I don't know if this is rare or even if I'm doing something wrong by not having tested. However, since the beginning of the pandemic the only time I've had symptoms was at the very beginning when you couldn't get a test (even then I only had very mild symptoms that didn't exactly fit the description). I've not been told to test by track and trace. I've not been required by work to test and I've not travelled overseas. So I guess the only reason I would have tested is for non-symptomatic testing. I'm not sure whether we're all supposed to be doing that regularly?

Just wondered if I've missed something or whether it's unusual not to have tested ever?

Neither of us have had PCR or LF tests, both been out at work all the way through, save that husband has had two four week periods of furlough.

Neither of us have had symptoms of covid, though I have double checked what the symptoms are when I have been unwell.

samwitwicky · 12/07/2021 19:33

Never tested. Neither has my DH. DS has had 2 tests but only because he was sent home with symptoms. Both were negative.

We're supposed to do LFTs for work but I haven't and will not.

Bouledeneige · 12/07/2021 19:54

I did one PCR last summer when I was concerned I might have symptoms. I was in a bubble with my elderly Dad so needed to be sure I wouldn't infect him. I recently did an antibodies test as part of the Imperial research programme. Unsurprisingly, as I've been doubled jabbed - I have antibodies.

Crunchymum · 12/07/2021 19:56

Only test I've had is for a 3 night admission with DC3

DP has not had a test (works out of the house). DC1 had his first one today, DC3 has had 2. Middle DC has had loads, she is a cougher, bless her so we are having to get her done once a month.

Dee1975 · 12/07/2021 20:05

If you are ‘out and about’ then you should be taking regular LFTs. So unless you are still locking yourself away from the world, then there shouldn’t really be anyone who has never done a test!

Clem4579 · 12/07/2021 20:11

I’ve never done a test
I probably was asleep when the government suggested it

Where does it say you should be doing tests if you are 'out and about'?
tigger1001 · 12/07/2021 20:47

I do lft. When I remember. My son and I tend to do them at the same time, but he is now off on holiday and neither of us have done them since.

Not done a pcr test.

Oh has not done lft tests or pcr. Neither have my parents. I don't think it's that rare. Know at my work most are not doing lft.

Bargebill19 · 12/07/2021 20:48

Both of us. Neither tested or offered them by our employers.

No one "should" be doing anything. Your opinion is not the law.
Nat6999 · 12/07/2021 21:16

I've never done one ever, despite having a child in school, ds started doing LFT tests but had to stop due to chronic nosebleeds, he can't do the nasal test & the blood runs down the back of his nose so he can't do the throat swab, he has had to do a PCR test this week but the nosebleed afterwards was so bad that we have decided that if he ever needs one again we will just isolate him instead.

Fifthtimelucky · 12/07/2021 21:19

I've never done one and hoping never to!

BirdSong2021 · 12/07/2021 21:31

I'm not repeatedly testing my kids no matter what is "suggested". It's traumatic for them and by extension for me. They have been tested on the odd occasion but I think it's wrong to do it on healthy children. If that makes me selfish and a granny killer then I'll take the title.

AbsolutelySure · 12/07/2021 21:31

No, I've had no symptoms and so no test

coconutmonkey · 12/07/2021 21:39

I've never had a test of any kind. Neither has my partner or either of my children. My parents and inlaws have never had a test...we're doing very well!

wordsareveryunnecessary · 12/07/2021 21:42

I've never tested

ErrolTheDragon · 12/07/2021 22:25

I've only done one test - only because I was asked as one of the random sample for Imperial College's research. I've had no symptoms, we don't have school age kids, I wfh anyway and we've avoided exposure.

Nat6999 · 12/07/2021 23:38

Looks like testing I'd going back in schools in September, ds has been asked if he is willing to volunteer in the school testing site again when they go back.

Dee1975 · 12/07/2021 23:44

@Waxonwaxoff0
It’s common courtesy
It’s doesn't have to be law

Why would I know about this website? Having to have regular tests is news to me

DramaAlpaca · 13/07/2021 00:31

I've had one test, adult DS2 has had about four at the last count.

Neither DH nor DS1 and DS3 have had a test.

ineedaholidaynow · 13/07/2021 00:42

Be interesting if we follow some of the other European countries that are asking people to test to go into cafes/restaurants unless double vaccinated

Yes, but they are also charging for the tests.
