Anyone else still never had a test?

I don't know if this is rare or even if I'm doing something wrong by not having tested. However, since the beginning of the pandemic the only time I've had symptoms was at the very beginning when you couldn't get a test (even then I only had very mild symptoms that didn't exactly fit the description). I've not been told to test by track and trace. I've not been required by work to test and I've not travelled overseas. So I guess the only reason I would have tested is for non-symptomatic testing. I'm not sure whether we're all supposed to be doing that regularly?

Just wondered if I've missed something or whether it's unusual not to have tested ever?

Only when I was in having my baby last year.... not since though!

KrakowDawn · 12/07/2021 11:25

DH and I have wfh since March 2020, so no tests needed.
The children test twice a week with lfts, but always been negative.
None of us have had any symptoms, despite our area having many, many cases at all points in the pandemic.
I know lots of people that have had it, including people hospitalised, and a few that have died.

LindaEllen · 12/07/2021 11:41

I've never tested, BUT I know I've had it.
At the beginning of the very first lockdown I was isolating completely, and keyworker DP caught it and tested positive. I then came down with the same illness and hadn't been anywhere apart from the back garden to catch anything else.

I WFH and always have done, so there's been no reason for me to need to test.. and when we caught it, you didn't get routinely tested unless a keyworker like DP was.

Oysterbabe · 12/07/2021 11:47

I had to do a lateral flow before attending an event but aside from that I haven't had one, neither have the kids.

Rillington · 12/07/2021 12:21

I haven't done any either. I think I had Covid back in March last year. My DH hasn't done any either. My DC have done them twice weekly for school.

Helensburghmiddleagedmum · 12/07/2021 12:32

Me, never had any symptoms, work don't ask us to do it, in fact I suspect they don't want us to as if positive we would have to take time off and other staff members potentially would have to self isolate. They are happy for people to say they have a "cold". In my opinion if you have "cold" symptoms you should have a test. Anyhow, so far, for the past 18 months, I haven't had so much as a sniffle, and so haven't had a test.

@Topseyt

Don't understand why people aren't bothering really except for their tinfoil hat wearing/apathy

No tinfoil hat here. I've just never had a reason to test. Do you understand that?

Same here. Why waste resources when the risk of getting it or passing it on to anyone who isn't double vaccinated is minute.
usernotfound0000 · 12/07/2021 12:59

DD1 has so far avoided it. She's only 6 so not meant to be doing regular tests, me and DH had Covid earlier in the year but she showed no symptoms so didn't see the point in putting her through the rest as we isolating and in lockdown anyway.

gemloving · 12/07/2021 13:02

I only had one because I travelled last year to see my family in Germany. Not because I've been sick.

PumpkinKlNG · 12/07/2021 13:04

Me and my children haven’t

XenoBitch · 12/07/2021 13:05

No, not had any kind of test. No tin foil hattery here, just had no need to have one.

sashagabadon · 12/07/2021 13:06

yes my dh - he has not been remotely impacted in any way at all.
He has never even had an LFT.
He has had his two jabs though but added together than probably took him 10 mins.
Whereas I work in a hospital, was on the trial, have had weekly PCRS for well over a year, and plenty of blood tests too - hours of my time

Neondisco · 12/07/2021 13:24

8 had a few sinus infections so have had done. My partner hasn't had any. My mum works in the NHS so tests regularly. Otherwise my family including grandparents haven't had tests.

ConcussedPigeon · 12/07/2021 13:33

Never had a test.
Still know no one directly who’s had Covid either (other than anecdotal tales of friend of friend etc).

Not a tinfoil hat wearer, just haven’t needed to.

TheVampiresWife · 12/07/2021 13:44

I've never tested, neither had DH. I don't really go anywhere and DH wfh. We're fairly sure we had it last March before testing was available. We haven't met up with anyone/had visitors etc for years so no prolonged contact with anyone.

Can't believe fully vaxxed people are being labelled tin foil hat wearers because they've never had a reason/need to test!

TheVampiresWife · 12/07/2021 13:45

*neither has DH

IamMaz · 12/07/2021 13:58

I've never had a test.

Roystonv · 12/07/2021 14:20

Both retired, no symptoms, never tested.

cirrusminor · 12/07/2021 14:25

Never needed to test because of travel, close contact etc., I've taken a couple of tests because I ordered a pack and I just wanted to before seeing friends in May. DP has never needed to test.

Most people I know have luckily never had to isolate or test either and have only taken an LFT voluntarily for meetups.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 12/07/2021 14:27

I've taken tests but never because of symptoms. I am doing the ONS study so take tests for that and do LFT for work. I very very rarely get ill and have never had any Covid symptoms, been taking tests since September for the study and they have been negative every time. Never had to isolate as a close contact either.

valnevavaxx · 12/07/2021 14:29

Were you all asleep when the government suggested we all use LFT's regularly? It doesn't have to just be because of work or because you have kids, it's the responsible thing to do.

Lots of people saying "I've never had symptoms"- LFTs are to catch asymptomatic cases, that's the whole point. Yes they're not perfect but if they even catch 1 in 50 people who would have otherwise walked around unknowingly spreading the virus that's better than nothing?

Suggested. They also suggested we eat 5 fruit and veg a day. I don't go anywhere so testing would be pointless. Covid wont have popped into existence in my house.
countrygirl99 · 12/07/2021 14:45

I work from home, kids are grown up and moved out. I walk the dogs round empty fields at 6am, barely see a soul when I go to do my horse. Even if I get asymptomatic covid from goodness knows who what is the benefit to anyone in me testing?

The key word there is "suggested". It's not yours or anyone else's place to lecture or police it.
AnyFucker · 12/07/2021 14:50

Suggested ? I am pretty much forced as a frontline worker to take LFT’s twice a week

But since they are widely known to be a fairly useless theatrical box ticking exercise I don’t count them as significant
