Anyone else still never had a test?

I don't know if this is rare or even if I'm doing something wrong by not having tested. However, since the beginning of the pandemic the only time I've had symptoms was at the very beginning when you couldn't get a test (even then I only had very mild symptoms that didn't exactly fit the description). I've not been told to test by track and trace. I've not been required by work to test and I've not travelled overseas. So I guess the only reason I would have tested is for non-symptomatic testing. I'm not sure whether we're all supposed to be doing that regularly?

Just wondered if I've missed something or whether it's unusual not to have tested ever?

Yes we're ask supposed to be doing regular lfts but that's mainly because the govt need to shift the billions of them they bought from their mates. 😂 In all seriousness, I've been doing irregular lfts since the schools went back in March but have never done a pcr and not have any of the family ever needed to.

Topseyt · 12/07/2021 09:07

I've never tested either. I won't unless I get symptoms or maybe if one of my immediate family does.

I've had a couple of mild colds. They were back near the beginning when widespread testing wasn't available and they didn't worry me even though I am in a vulnerable group.

belhaven · 12/07/2021 09:08

I hadn't until 2w ago, when my teenage son (who is testing 2x weekly for school) had a +LFT test. I've since done numerous LFTs and had 2 x PCRs (we have asymptomatic PCR mobile testing locally).

CeaselessWatcher · 12/07/2021 09:09

Not had a PCR but have done LFTs when appropriate - eg when close contacts were self isolating (not when they had COVID as otherwise I would be self isolating as well), when I was visiting a nursery, when I was meeting up with friends.

pollylocketpickedapocket · 12/07/2021 09:12

No, I’ve not had any. But off to Majorca next week so it will be my first time!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 12/07/2021 09:13

me.
never tested.

last year in March I was quite ill and had all the main symptoms and almost all the other symptoms (DH too) so we are convinced we had it. we also seem to have long Covid (me more than him).
but tests were not available then unless you were admitted to hospital so we'll never have proof.
don't see the point of testing now, I'm a SAHM and don't need it for anything.

Bananarice · 12/07/2021 09:14

I been the person with the least amount of tests in this house. Dc got tested semi regularly because school insisted on it. Dh works in nhs so he tests regularly. Ds3 is a baby who picks up every cold going.

I have only done a test once, because dh was positive and I had a very weak but persistent cough. I tested positive then.

My brother hasn't tested once yet either. He works from home and is in his thirties.

ArsendLupin · 12/07/2021 09:14

I did an LFT one to see what it was like.

I still only know of one single person who has tested positive for covid. I didn't have any contact with them except on the phone and it's just someone I know through work who lives in a different city.

I know that must be unusual and I'm thankful, but at times the whole pandemic has felt very remote!

RedRiverShore · 12/07/2021 09:15

Me and DH haven't.

Eleoura · 12/07/2021 09:16

DH and I have never had symptoms and never been tested.

Rosti1981 · 12/07/2021 09:16

I hadn't until a couple of weeks ago when a school bubble closed and we were asked to. I did one too as it was an option to add household members at the same time and it seemed sensible. Still took 15 months to do one though!

EileenGC · 12/07/2021 09:19

A friend I met yesterday, who has the same job and is studying the same course as me, albeit in a different country. We were comparing how different the Covid protocol was for each of our institutions - I’ve been testing up to 5 times a week, he hasn’t ever had one since the pandemic started!

Dustyboots · 12/07/2021 09:20

I’ve never had a test. LFT or PCR.

pinkflask · 12/07/2021 09:21

DP has never done one - I work in a college so do LFTs and there are loads around, but he works alone and has never had a reason to take one.

UserAtLarge · 12/07/2021 09:21

We're all encouraged to take regular LFTs so unless you literally sit at home and never come into contact with anyone that is something you've "missed".

I've never had a test due to having symptoms. I've taken LFTs regularly and 1 PCR when my area was included in surge testing.

BahHumbygge · 12/07/2021 09:22

Me! I’ve had my temperature checked going into the dentist, but that’s the extent of the covid “testing” I’ve had.

Might have had the slightest something in March/April 2020... bleachy sensation in airways, micro tickle in throat and a couple of full bucket drenching night sweats (unique for me)... otherwise didn’t feel the slightest bit fatigued/run down/ achy... well before testing was common place and prob too late for antibody testing now.

Shelovesamystery · 12/07/2021 09:23

No tests here either. Only person in our house who's had one is DS because he had a cold and preschool asked us to get him tested. Both me and DH only get ssp if we have to isolate so taking a test is a big risk as we're not able to get the £500 so we'd have to get into debt just to pay our bills and buy food if we have to be off.

CrunchyCarrot · 12/07/2021 09:23

Nope never tested. And I've had Covid! Asymptomatically, though, caught from my DP who did have a PCR test, which was negative. Clearly a false negative!

countrygirl99 · 12/07/2021 09:26

No test here. I work from home, spend most of my spare time with horses or dogs and have never had any symptoms. No one I have had any contact with has had any symptoms either so what would be the point?

Tal45 · 12/07/2021 09:29

DH and I are WFH/home all the time and so have never done a test. We test ds twice a week as he is at a huge school so obviously is constantly mixing with a lot of people. None of us have had covid as far as we're aware.

Yorkshirepudding1987 · 12/07/2021 09:34

I only had one before my C Section. My OH has never had one either. We've never been told to isolate. We live in an area that had restrictions for most of last year, OH has continued working on various building sites, our toddler has been in nursery (never had a case there) throughout and I spent a lot of time in hospital between March and September when I was pregnant. We have seen friends and family.

Don't know if we're lucky or what, but we do think we may have had covid in February 2020 although I did a covid antibody test recently and have no antibodies from infection

hellywelly3 · 12/07/2021 09:34

I do approximately 2 LFT a week as that was the advice for parents of children in school.

NerdyBird · 12/07/2021 09:36

I haven't. I've not had symptoms and haven't been a close contact of a positive case. DH did his first one the other day to go to an event. DD had to do pcr a few weeks ago due to bubble burst (she had no symptoms but it was recommended). All negative results.

TheGenealogist · 12/07/2021 09:36

Have had two work-related tests with no symptoms. Only because a negative PCR was required before working in that particular environment.

Don't do LFTs.

Greenrubber · 12/07/2021 09:37

@CrunchyCarrot

I'm confused? So your husband had it but he tested negative and you have had it but never been tested? How do you know just curious

I've not taken any tests and also not had any symptoms I do have a pack of LFT's but they are if I get symptoms or for when I go into labour as I'm pregnant at the moment

I know of 3 people living in the same household and 2 of them had covid and the third did not catch covid so it is possible to not catch it even tho you are living with someone they were regularly tested throughout
