If the app pinged you now, would you isolate?

Just wondering how people are responding at this stage given the changes they want to make to the app (things like sensitivity and NHS/double jabbed status).

@Mummasdiary2021

I don't have the app and never have however I wouldn't isolate. My sons school have just been sent home as a teacher had it. We did a test, got résults the next day and were out again like normal x
Ffs - and people wonder why it’s spreading.

Yes I got pinged yesterday. Couldn't be sure where from. Then I got a phone call from my work this afternoon telling me I had been in close contact with someone who had tested positive.

So presumably that was where it was picked up.

In actual fact throughout the day, a further 7 cases have been discovered at my work and various staff have been sent home.

I'm glad I isolated and didn't go in this morning.
I've done an LFT which was negative but who knows? I don't want to be responsible for other people catching it

Yondergoat · 12/07/2021 15:48

I had mine on and got pinged. The only place I had been was the garden centre, with hardly anyone there. I dutifully WFH and missed my dance classes for the 8 days it told me to, and took 3 lateral flow tests, all negative. I have had both jabs.

I then read a thread very similar to this one and realised that no-one else is bothering, so turned off the contact tracing.

No but I don't have the app either

bigbluebus · 12/07/2021 16:35

I've turned the track and trace off on mine so would only get pinged if there were cases linked to a venue that I'd checked in at so I assume that would just be an advisory to test. I don't really go anywhere where I'm in close contact with strangers and any nights out have been outdoors so I am limiting my risk anyway and I'd more than likely know if friends I'd been out with had tested positive as they are responsible people.

Duggeehugs82 · 13/07/2021 08:44

I have been pinged and looked at settings to find out when i was supposedly exposed, it was sunday when i was at home all day, we have been isolating because my daughter had q positive case in her class , which we will be carrying on. Im ignoring the app as i clearly wasnt in contact with someone, i feel annoyed because i have kept to all rules throughout.

Got a notification to self isolate yesterday.

Have been nowhere near anyone other than I went to a pub for an hour on Saturday night where I sat outside with a friend who definitely hasn't got Covid.

It's really frustrating as I can't work from home and don't have a local network to help with getting shopping etc

Selfish I know but I wish I'd turned the app off Sad

SmidgenofaPigeon · 13/07/2021 12:15

@Lookdeepintotheparka then don’t isolate.

You don't need to isolate, so don't. It is not a legal obligation if pinged by the app.

Time to delete the app. Or at least disable it by turning your Bluetooth off.

jevoudrais · 13/07/2021 12:38

If it was the app no, but I'm double jabbed and know the app can set you falsely. If track and trace rang me I would isolate.
