How are the 'Great Reset' conspiracists dealing with regulations coming to an end?

wheresmymojo · 06/07/2021 20:26

Last year I ended up removing a couple of people from my FB friends because they went full on 'Great Reset' conspiracy mad.

They did believe that COVID existed but thought that it was 'just like the flu' and being used as an excuse to put society under controls which would last forever and was the first step in some kind of global conspiracy.

I always wondered how they would square things to themselves once a vaccine was introduced and the controls were lifted.

Would they admit they'd been wrong (I feel like the answer is definitely not)...

Anyone stayed friends with a conspiracy theorist long enough to know how they're addressing the fact that the controls are coming to an end?

While everyone was distracted this happened

How many of you noticed that in the news today?

I'm not a conspiracy theorist but I'm beginning to wonder if I should be...

Anyone who follows the news even slightly knows about this.
gibbertyofah · 06/07/2021 22:16

My DP is a conspiracy theorist ............I'm starting to wonder too............

scrambledcustard · 06/07/2021 22:16

I love a good CT. My friend is a Flat Earther. His kids go to the same private school my kids go to and he owns several business. I love drinks round his house as it makes for a lively evening Grin

I'm not a dick so if I like some one I dont look down my nose at them if they have wacky views. It says more about a person sniggering at their friend/s that it does about their actual friend.Laughing at some one else beliefs reminds me of braying donkeys.

AnxiousWeirdo · 06/07/2021 22:20

My family fully believe that is the next stage or something. Fake freedoms to confuse and destabilise etc etc etc yadda yadda coughbullshitcough.

Junobug · 06/07/2021 22:20

They are in it for the long haul. I'm on a fb group that are convinced that the vaccine sheds and therefore, letting us mix spreads the vaccine to those unvaccinated. Then in about 5 years, it will kick in and kill us all.
Apart from those who have been sensible enough to drink pine needle tea and think loving thoughts.
I still can't quite workout why they think a government who has gone to the trouble of killing 90% of it's population, would want to be left with such a strong anti government group left though?

StrangeAddiction · 06/07/2021 22:26

I'm not a CT but i certainly don't believe everything the government tells us is true.

If you think that makes me a nut/loon/CT then that's your opinion 🤷🏻‍♀️

nordica · 06/07/2021 22:26

Well we've all got our microchips now, so... Wink

Doyouforseeproblems · 06/07/2021 22:26

I had to get rid of my one loony person on FB as found myself getting ridiculously wound up by her bonkers theories. I may just go and take a look and see how far up her own bottom she has climbed...

It's not like no one noticed though is it? There are protests about it. And it's in the news. 🤷‍♀️

Ha ha, yes it makes perfect sense to wipe out all the obedient rule abiding, tax paying citizens and be left with a bunch of cranks led by Laurence Fox and Piers Corbyn. The new world order sound full of lolz.
Sittingonabench · 06/07/2021 22:45

I do think restrictions will be fully lifted but I think you are crowing a bit loud a bit soon. Restrictions haven’t been lifters yet. Not to mention the New variant found in Australia (they obviously don’t know a lot about it yet but…) and reporting is that it is likely restrictions will be reintroduced until spring next year. So no I wouldn’t expect them in the next year to change their position on this and let’s see what it looks like next year.

Eatyouroatsplease · 06/07/2021 22:49

Following with interest

BlueBlancmange · 06/07/2021 23:03

I've always assumed they'll say the plan was dropped or postponed due to their action.

slashlover · 06/07/2021 23:06

I can understand why people WANT to believe in conspiracy theories though. The idea that something like the last 18 months could happen - where to begin with nobody knows what is happening and everyone is scrambling to control a virus which causes the entire world to shut down - is terrifying. Especially the idea that it could happen again and some scientists are saying that something bigger could happen in the future, it could be lass scary to believe that governments are actually fully in control. There's also the idea that you're clever enough to figure it out and everyone else is too blind to see it.

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 06/07/2021 23:17

To the pp who said the conspiracy theories were right about when there will be another lockdown etc.
That doesn't make it a conspiracy
It was glaringly obvious looking at the data. The deaths, infections etc.
Mandatory vaccinations have been around for a while too.

But people who believe in conspiracies like to think they're so incredibly clever for spotting it.
It is ridiculous.

My cousin is one. I honestly think he is extremely mentally unwell.

Zilla1 · 06/07/2021 23:37

Lab leak is widely accepted now? Any evidence?

The last I saw was that the nucleotide sequence was what would have been expected from random mutations of a bat CV. Ordoes this make it a lab leak of a virus engineered by people very clever at hiding their nefarious tracks but not good at biosecurity?

Doyouforseeproblems · 06/07/2021 23:41

*Especially the idea that it could happen again and some scientists are saying that something bigger could happen in the future"

Don't they realise this stuff has been happening forever though? Aren't viruses the oldest living organisms in the solar system? Haven't they heard of all the killer flu and plagues that have wiped out half the entire population over the centuries? Or was that all just part of the great conspiracy too Hmm

Zilla1 · 06/07/2021 23:41

So very clever at hiding their nefarious tracks but not good at biosecurity and good at coordinating a global conspiracy amongst nations with wildly different politics though sadly transparent to those who aren't sheeple and who can scratch the surface and don't believe MSM. Perhaps the ability quickly to become experts in constitutional law and international trade is correlated with seeing through conspiracies.

Gingerkittykat · 06/07/2021 23:42

I think the conspirancy theorists have doubled down in their thinking right now.

My cousin had a go at me for getting vaccinated (I was in the shielding group).

One friend is raging at the fact his wife needs to be vaccinated to continue working at a care home.

My friend who I have known for 20 years posted on FB earlier today about how the hospital want to rape her face (ie get a covid test) before she has surgery. Last week she posted a yellow star with a microchip on it likening the plight of the unvaxed to Jews in Nazi Germany.

I tolerate my cousin because I love him, the first friend don't bother me much but I've lost all respect for the face rape friend. She's someone I have had a good friendship with over the years but now thinking of just cutting her off.

You are probably correct. I am not a MH worker but my job brings me into contact with mentally ill people every day. Only a small minority want to talk about conspiracies and how people are persecuting them, but they tend to be the people I can't connect with or help very well at all, I think they are often too ill.
Gingerkittykat · 06/07/2021 23:48

I've just read the link above to the article about limiting protests which I think is outrageous in a free society. I've been happy with the lockdowns and am happy to wear masks etc but we do need to make sure other freedoms are upheld.

IncessantNameChanger · 07/07/2021 00:05

Not sure but as a scientist there are are glaring plot holes from what I can see.

I still think people prefer to think this is all under human control where as a scientist I'm quite happy that we have a species jump of a semi lethal virus and nature could wipe us out easily at any time and we arent in control. That's there are billions of viruses just waiting to jump the species and kill us all. People think I'm mad and humans cant possibly not be in total control so meh. What ever helps people sleep at night.

The thing I struggle with is keeping up as you cant talk openly about what latest CT thinking is.

Theres a whole batshit spectrum out there from nano bots to lockdown until the virus goes away. Somewhere in the middle the truth lays.

Sonarl · 07/07/2021 00:07

What happened to the 5G conspiracy? At the beginning it was all about that, 5G causing coronavirus etc - why did that die a death? They seemed utterly convinced about it at the beginning.

I too think it's a mental health issue. someone I have known for 25 years and travelled with, having numerous travel vaccines, now days she can see a dark, black cloud or aura hanging over anyone who is vaccinated with covid vaccine (which one? All of them? Even though they're completely different?). She got very upset when I asked why she didn't mention this 20 years ago when we got yellow fever vaccines to go travelling. She's close to a breakdown, marriage breaking down, small business destroyed by lockdown. the theories have got crazier as she's got worse.

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 07/07/2021 00:07

@MrsLCSofLichfield I agree.

2 examples that really pushed my patience with him.

I worked for the NHS at the time. Have since left due to what now appears to be PTSD anyway my cousin text constantly asking how much I was being paid to go along with the covid agenda.
I actually had the one text after just witnessing an extremely distressing covid death. Early into it all.
When I left the NHS. He asked if I had to give my "bonus" back

Next thing. I had covid after having the vaccine and he was "see told you. The vaccine has nothing to do with covid" DH was extremely unwell with covid and was blue lighted to hospital for steroids, IV antibiotics and oxygen. My cousin still believes now that the paramedics injected him with something when they got there.
Despite the fact that I'm a hcp and the reason I called for an ambulance was I had been monitoring his sats at home. They didn't worsen on arrival of the paramedics.
But he just won't believe me and sneers.
I have stopped talking to him at all now as I found it so infuriating. I do worry for him though as how is it normal to believe all the above. Confused
