How are the 'Great Reset' conspiracists dealing with regulations coming to an end?

wheresmymojo · 06/07/2021 20:26

Last year I ended up removing a couple of people from my FB friends because they went full on 'Great Reset' conspiracy mad.

They did believe that COVID existed but thought that it was 'just like the flu' and being used as an excuse to put society under controls which would last forever and was the first step in some kind of global conspiracy.

I always wondered how they would square things to themselves once a vaccine was introduced and the controls were lifted.

Would they admit they'd been wrong (I feel like the answer is definitely not)...

Anyone stayed friends with a conspiracy theorist long enough to know how they're addressing the fact that the controls are coming to an end?

OP posts:

@IRanSoFarAway1, don't forget the sterilisation caused by the vaccination. And Bill Gate's monitoring chips. A truly multi purpose vaccine.

Chocolatebox11 · 07/07/2021 20:23

Oh for god’s sake. This is so boring and over done. Just an excuse to get on your high horse and laugh at people.
@DismantledKing I can only speak for myself but the best outcome for me is to be proved wrong! I'm not trying to prove I'm smarter than anyone else. The 'conspiracy theorists' called each lockdown well before it was announced, i.e. they knew 'freedom by Easter' was a lie. They also called that vaccines would be mandatory for NHS staff and vaccine passports, which haven't been brought into the UK thankfully but have in other countries. Some countries have mandated vaccinations or placed financial penalties on those that refuse.
The lab leak theory is also widely excepted now and there have been more studies done on the use of ivermectin, which was dismissed for a long time but has proven effective in other countries.

I'm not about to say that they are right about everything, misinformation can happen on both sides and has but I just like to look at all the info and try to decide from there. It doesn't help when censorship is at an all time high either, that only fuels more conspiracy theories!

I'm not trying to convince anyone though, just my two cents since the OP asked, although I think she was only asking so she could be rude to said people.
I mean, I’m not remotely a conspiracy theorist but those things were extremely obvious to anyone paying attention - calling the lockdowns wasn’t difficult when our government waited way too long to lock down each time. Vaccine passports aren’t a surprise during such a huge global pandemic.

Predicting likely things doesn’t mean they were right about things because the conspiracy is what’s apparently behind the pandemic, not the likely events. Conspiracies always take small elements of the truth and then twist them into something ridiculous.

No, they are reporting that vaccination or a negative test will be required.

Conspiracy theorists like to suggest a two tier society where the unvaccinated aren’t allowed to do anything. The option of a negative test instead of vaccination would mean they are wrong.

We haven't been told that it will happen either. The Times are flag flying.

Requestingatimemachine · 10/07/2021 17:09

I’m in another country and it’s just started this weekend. You need to show your vaccination certificate/passport in order to sit inside a restaurant or stay at a hotel or B&B etc. If you don’t have it, you have to have a negative test every time or you can’t come in. It’s madness, they’re leaving no option but you having to have both vaccinations

lightand · 10/07/2021 17:36

Hilarious that you think regulations are coming to an end, op Grin

Posts MISINFORMATION

IknowThisIsRidiculous · 10/07/2021 18:30

@AwakeNotAsleep I've lost count how many times I've been told to 'do my research' by a conspiracy theorist who can't answer a simple question (like who the "they" is that are controlling us).

Eye. Roll.

TheTallOakTrees · 10/07/2021 19:40

@ElephantMoth

Everything that they said has come true, if you think the control is coming to an end then more fool you. The World Economic Forum have set out what is to happen, it's not like they are hiding it.

@noblegiraffe

I'm saying, Comedy that conspiracy theorists claiming anything that vaguely sounds like what they were predicting materialising as a win undermines them. It's a bit Nostradamus.
True. Anything with a grain of truth with be claimed as proof. That's what they do.
Terhou · 12/07/2021 11:42

The 'conspiracy theorists' called each lockdown well before it was announced, i.e. they knew 'freedom by Easter' was a lie.

So did virtually anyone with working brain cells, to be honest. It was obvious that that was just Johnson trying to keep the Daily Mail faction and his MPs happy.

lostandlonely20 · 12/07/2021 16:13

I only know one CT but it's a family friend so I don't have much to do with her but she has suffered from mental illness for her entire adult life and unfortunately the whole coronavirus CT rabbit hole online has sent her into a manic state.

My opinion is that there are 2 separate issues:

1.) there is a virus which is bad and has killed an awful lot of people and we have needed the restrictions (and still do in some cases).
2.) The government behaving badly/bringing in new unfair laws and generally using the virus as an excuse to behave in a shitty way.

Unfortunately I've heard people who have said that because they government have behaved badly and capitalised on the virus, it means that the virus doesn't exist.

Comedycook · 12/07/2021 16:24

I don't know why this has to be so polarised

Conspiracy theorists nutters or people who believe everything the government tells them.

I am neither.

lightand · 12/07/2021 16:33

Quite.

I do wonder about those who believe everything the government says.
Why, when it has been proved over and over that people in government lie, do people readliy believe every word they utter? Hmm

UndercoverToad · 12/07/2021 16:37

@lightand I believe the scientists even if I don’t trust the government. So if the consensus of scientific opinion is restrictions are needed - I will listen to them.

BlueBlancmange · 12/07/2021 16:42

Conspiracy theorists tend to make the erroneous assumption that people who don't share their beliefs must believe absolutely everything the Government says. But then I've noticed conspiracy theorists tend to have very black and white thinking.
jewel1968 · 12/07/2021 16:43

Conspiracies have occurred over the years so it is not unreasonable to be sceptical or curious. However the fundamental flaw in this particular conspiracy is it isn't clear who is benefiting from the restrictions. At least not to me.
