@Watapalava - If we need to know that data we will be told

I love your confidence Grin

My posts are simply pointing out that it's not as simple as knowing which vaccine.

@Tealightsandd is quite reasonably asking questions about the situation. Given the way BJ and Co have managed everything so far, I wouldn't have too much confidence in them doing the right thing.

"Why would people anywhere in the world be laughing at us? Even if they think the pandemic has been badly handled here, do we really have such a poor opinion of people in other countries that we think they'd think of us as laughing stock."

I can't help thinking that before the pandemic there was Brexit, that then took so long to get any kind of deal on; that the deal was nothing like what Boris thought he would bring home (with May not being enough of a rogue to do it); and that was also handled cack-handedly. Whether it started to paint us as a laughing stock - it definitely didn't make us win (EU) friends and influence people.

And yes, the Boris act is indeed very cleverly and consistently curated.

Is it not a bit late?! I’m sure delta is all over Europe already

I think the British probably overestimate how important/ interesting they are to the rest of the world. There were plenty of other things going on in the world during the Brexit negotiations!
PaulaPetunia · 30/06/2021 12:27

The British or some posters on Mumsnet.😂

Ormally · 30/06/2021 12:36

I had no intention to be egocentric and I do know well that the British are not as interesting to the rest of the world as they think they are. I have been able to live in the EU for a few years of my life. I just don't think that the pandemic and Brexit can be totally put in their separate boxes and the earlier political handling forgotten about, in terms of today's experience of travelling elsewhere.

There are posters who give a lot of perspectives on one of the threads in Chat, about how people who voted for Brexit now think it's going. Nobody even mentions the pandemic so they must be separate issues. Oh wait, they do.

You’d be surprised. My go-to German newspaper has an unhealthy obsession with the Brits.

Yes Smile

I agree.
Although I'd be amazed if people in other countries weren't pissing themselves laughing at Johnson strutting around shouting about "Global Britain" and laughing at the fact we elected him.

Marguerite2000 · 30/06/2021 19:13

@Kendodd

did you see Boris's speech at the G7 on building back better?

He looked half cut, dribbled on about building back green/back gender neutral/back feminine etc

I've started to think Johnson actually has a speech impediment. He definitely stammers a lot and can't get his words out properly.
This is no excuse for his dishevelled appearance though.

I suspect he had a stroke shortly after his covid illness. He seemed disorientated and out of it

Oh definitely.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 30/06/2021 19:35

Outside of MN, I'm not sure your average Brit gives it much thought.

In case anyone wants to request a proof in paper of the vaccines (Malta is requesting it)
