That's a because most people can see that vaccines work at preventing serious illness in the vast majority of people and that the last time we had 20k cases a day, almost 1000 people a day were dying. Three people died yesterday - three too many, of course, but you can see why the fear has largely gone. And that's a good thing, surely?

They are talking about ending isolation for contacts at school, but replacing it with testing for 10 days instead. So not total freedom then. And I assume if you refuse to do the testing the child will still have to isolate and will probably be easier to see who would be flouting the isolation rules if most pupils are in school

That would put hospitalisations (even if % now stayed same - which it won’t because of vaccines) then that would be 6000 or so in hospital

There were 40,000 at peak

So you see 100,000 really didn’t that big of a deal
