pinkpip I agree on mitigations in schools. I don't even have strong feelings on masks (tho I doubt how many kids are wearing them properly).

I do not like Boris. I totally disagree with the Government lifting on 19th July. I also do not agree that we have a choice to wear a mask or not and to social distance.

Cases will surge and this Government just do not care and the sooner Boris is out the better. He will not get elected again

Wednesday's data showed there had been a further 32,548 confirmed Covid cases.

And there were another 33 deaths reported within 28 days of a positive Covid test.

It comes as Boris Johnson has defended the government's approach to easing England's lockdown, saying the link between infection and serious disease and death has been "severed".

Incidences of Long Covid will happen. Prof Whitty said there were 3 situations where he would still wear a mask. I really hope UK government know what they are doing. My view-it's an experiment.

Actually *@HelloMissus* I want most restrictions lifted - I just want it to go hand in hand with additional mitigations in school - particularly proper ventilation. And I do really care about all vulnerable children, not just those that are disabled or clinically vulnerable in terms of Covid. The whole situation is shit and I don't think any good is served by those of us not in power putting ourselves against each other. All I've been saying all along is a little empathy would go a very long way.
Schools have had more than enough mitigations in place, to the extent that its significantly hampered their education over the past 18 months. They don't need more! Apart from opening windows wide and possibly using fans, which I'm thinking schools are already doing, I'm not sure what more you're wanting in terms of ventilation?

Children aren't being vaccinated because, despite vaccinations being incredibly safe, the tiny risk is equivalent to the risk to Covid in children. Schools just need to crack on and children take time off if too ill to attend, and that's it. Very vulnerable children should be vaccinated over the summer.... the sooner Covid goes through a school, the sooner that school will be able to get back to normality, benefiting all children, including the vulnerable (who may have to remain off whilst an outbreak rips through).

As long as the NHS isn't overwhelmed, suppression is counterproductive at this stage I think. Your child will be exposed to Covid... they might as well get it sooner rather than later.

Vaccinations mean we should treat Covid like the flu - a nasty bug, but not one we curtail our lives for.
