We need to learn to live with covid like we do with all other viruses, illnesses and diseases. The elderly and high risk are vaccinated… that was the goal, remember?! Like Hancock said, we will cry freedom when the over 70s are vaccinated!

There is no reason for mass testing when the young and healthy get covid mildly. My child is in tears yet again because she isn’t allowed to go to school for 10 days. A few students in her year group tested positive and all students are forced to be locked in their homes… again.

Are the sick?! No. Half have no symptoms. The others have a slight fever and feel a little tired.

This isn’t fair. This isn’t healthy. This isn’t sane. This is harmful and destructive to children. An entire generation has been betrayed. For what exactly? Over a virus which does not affect them. Over fear. Over people being immensely risk-averse. Over loss of control and people can’t take it.

It is time we live our lives and get back to normal before it’s too late. If our children hold us accountable and never forgive us, I will completely understand. We have not stood-up for them. Instead, we cowered in fear not giving a hoot about the collateral damage all these restrictions have caused. Shame on us.

What type?!!!! A special little group?!!

It seems pretty broad across the rest of its polls.

Watapalava · 20/06/2021 17:26

People need to stop with the bloody tests

Right now I think we are the most vaccinated country in the world and yet have all these restrictions others don’t

Indian varient hasn’t caused any further deaths so why we even giving it second thought

On average 30-50 people die every day of flu

No one gives a shit about flu

Tealightsandd · 20/06/2021 17:26

@MareofBeasttown

I have been very cautious through this whole pandemic, but now I am inclined to agree with you. Children and the young have suffered enough.
Yes particularly the 53,000 CEV children.
MarshaBradyo · 20/06/2021 17:27

Yes I understand the role of the JCVI. It will be the government who have the final say after the JCVI advise.

Tg for that. So when I said JCVI that’s who I meant. Not government so your point is pointless.

Do you listen more to unverified Twitter stuff than JCVI? Some do.

MyrtlethePurpleTurtle · 20/06/2021 17:27

@PandasCatsWolves

I've had enough of the Ive had enough threads !!
Me too! But you have to love the froth
QueenofDestruction · 20/06/2021 17:27

Where does the idea come from that a young person's life or suffering matters more than an adults? Each person has the same value.

You seem to be changing the goal posts.

If the majority supported restrictions we wouldn’t see pressure to lift.

yet you have yet to put anything forward that proves the "majority" wants the restrictions lifted.

@SoupDragon

If our children hold us accountable and never forgive us, I will completely understand.

The people whinging the most are the adults.

I also think my children might be pretty cross if they have serious health impacts because I pretended Covid was no risk to them.
Tealightsandd · 20/06/2021 17:28

No one gives a shit about flu

Except for all those who get vaccinated. You might not give a shit - but plenty of others do.

We also know a lot more about the flu and it's long term effects.

Unlike Covid, which is new - and possibly genetically modified and escaped from a lab.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 20/06/2021 17:29

No one is dying of flu at the moment.

Hand hygiene and social distancing stopped the transmission of flu

You're so clever Grin You caught me out, yes, I listen to 'unverified' Twitter 'stuff' all the time.

This.

And also most children are not psychopaths. They love and care about their adult relatives and friends. Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, older siblings.

Bereavement hits children hard.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 20/06/2021 17:31

It doesn’t matter who owns it people who self selecting filling out polls fit a certain type 😂😂

Just because it doesn’t fit your beliefs you are blaming the people taking part.

That’s so funny!

Lobbying and behaviour mostly.

Every time we get slight relaxation you can see demand spark dramatically, this is built up demand.

I’d look to this over polls and Guardian etc comments.

@Tealightsandd

Yeah. My 6 yr okd is CEV. But if I follow what people say on this thread. We should keep her indoors for the next year. Again.

Itsokthanks · 20/06/2021 17:31

I agree. My son is off for 10 days again. Absolutely no need if they've had a negative test. We can't keep doing this.

Tealightsandd · 20/06/2021 17:31

Child carers have a very tough time.

And some people seem happy to condemn many more to that fate. Caring for a disabled Long Covid parent or sibling.

MarshaBradyo · 20/06/2021 17:32

You're so clever grin You caught me out, yes, I listen to 'unverified' Twitter 'stuff' all the time.

Well you’re quick to dismiss JCVI as government so I wasn’t sure 😂

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 20/06/2021 17:32

What lobbying?!!

What behaviour?!!!

I’ve seen nothing to support this!!! Sweet FA tbh

I know. Some seem to suffer complete cognitive dissonance.

They say they don't want mitigation measures now, to suppress and contain, until we get the true herd immunity of 80-90% vaccinated.

Instead, they suggest CEV children lock away long term.

serenjico · 20/06/2021 17:34

I also think my children might be pretty cross if they have serious health impacts because I pretended Covid was no risk to them.

And then those kids could grow up and look at the actual statistics and forgive you.

Circle of life eh? I remember being pretty cross with my mum who wouldn't let me go out after 9pm. Then I grew up and understood risk a whole lot better....

She has since been forgiven.

Getawaywithit · 20/06/2021 17:34

Shame on you. Your compliance is hurting our children

And your non-compliance means we have to keep pushing back the date when this is genuinely over.

Oh and my children, well one of them at least, along with thousands of othe children across the country, is CV. Not that people like you give a stuff about them.

Whatever9999 · 20/06/2021 17:36

@Dressingup

A guy at work said he had to carry a gas mask around with him as a young child and was made to go to the country side away from his family to help save the country my grandad was sent out on a ship in the navy which was bombed I think we have it lucky yes it’s a pain but it’s not lasting 6 years we haven’t had to ration food either
My Dad passed a couple years ago, actually did have gas mask etc (his parents decided not to evacuate him). Now he was 7 when ww2 started, and would have been 89 now... So I call Bullshit that someone you work with wore a gas mask and was evacuated. Even if he had been old enough to be evacuated at the end of the war (when very few children were evacuated) he'd be early 80s and very unlikely to be in work).

Definitely extreme right wingers like Harper and Baker are lobbying hard. Across mediums, not just in Parliament. Off and and online.
