We need to learn to live with covid like we do with all other viruses, illnesses and diseases. The elderly and high risk are vaccinated… that was the goal, remember?! Like Hancock said, we will cry freedom when the over 70s are vaccinated!

There is no reason for mass testing when the young and healthy get covid mildly. My child is in tears yet again because she isn’t allowed to go to school for 10 days. A few students in her year group tested positive and all students are forced to be locked in their homes… again.

Are the sick?! No. Half have no symptoms. The others have a slight fever and feel a little tired.

This isn’t fair. This isn’t healthy. This isn’t sane. This is harmful and destructive to children. An entire generation has been betrayed. For what exactly? Over a virus which does not affect them. Over fear. Over people being immensely risk-averse. Over loss of control and people can’t take it.

It is time we live our lives and get back to normal before it’s too late. If our children hold us accountable and never forgive us, I will completely understand. We have not stood-up for them. Instead, we cowered in fear not giving a hoot about the collateral damage all these restrictions have caused. Shame on us.

@JaniieJones no comment on the rest of my post?

And yes, bleeding. Put down to contraception, but with no examination. HTH.

TheVampiresWife · 22/06/2021 11:16

Also my GP practice isn't doing blood screening for those on medication such as methotrexate and the nearest hospital that is doing it is five miles away. Fine, if you're able bodied/have access to a car. Not so fine if you aren't able bodied/have to walk/no money for a taxi/can't attend at the times the clinic is open/don't live on the bus route etc.

Why are you so convinced that NHS services are cracking on with little disruption/are available to all despite what so many posters are telling you about their own experiences, @JaniieJones? What's your experience - have you had screening/essential consultant appointments cancelled, been unable to access help, or left without medication? What's the evidence for your 'guarantees'?

SueSaid · 22/06/2021 11:22

Non essential reviews cancelled in the early days for family and friends, rearranged opas in recent months. All essential blood checks continued (family needing inr checks etc), f2f appointments went ahead if warranted. You must have some faith in gps, if your friend explained symptoms and you think it was 'probably contraception related' then it is quite understandable the gp didn't need to see her. If it persists they will then get seen.

All screening up to date. HTH.

So you're okay, therefore you assume everyone else must be. That really is not the case, as many posters here have said - unfortunately you simply won't have it that others' experiences differ from yours.

And it wasn't me who thought DD's bleeding was contraception related. The GP did. Without an examination/in person appointment.

It's utterly incredible to me that people can't see that those who are privileged/comfortably off are not experiencing the same hardships as a result of continuing restrictions as those who aren't.

Any answers on how isolation affects disadvantaged children, actually all young children more?

Easier to ignore if it doesn’t fit with chirpy picture,

MarshaBradyo · 22/06/2021 11:35

Meant to say agree with the bold para and question

Getawaywithit · 22/06/2021 12:41

but some really do not think about the impact of isolation on others

And some really do not think about the impact of covid on others. And that includes the requirement that they isolate.

How long would you like children to keep doing this?
roguetomato · 22/06/2021 12:56

This video was great at understanding why people need to be patient for just a little bit longer for better outcome.

How long would you like children to keep doing this?

Until someone realises that CEV and CV children also deserve to be in school, with mitigations taking place to support that? Or is it just the case that the only children who matter are those you consider 'healthy'?

Btw I know people think masks (which we don’t use in primary anyway) or distancing - also doesn’t really happen in primary, especially if they can mix freely outside - will do much will do much pre age 12. But with Delta and cases rising they won’t.

A better option is for vaccination for all children and / or CEV or all others get acquired immunity.

The what is it 7 years in primary - avoiding the delta variant is going to be trickier

MercyBooth · 22/06/2021 16:23

Great news. Because we have never been told this before Hmm

roguetomato · 22/06/2021 17:39

@MercyBooth
Yeah, we didn't have massive vaccine roll out before. It's crucial time of if we can get out this mess sooner or not.

Baileysforchristmas · 22/06/2021 17:43

I don’t think anyone will be holding on any longer now, especially with Wembley due 60,000 people with people coming from all
over Europe, what’s the point.

Yeah that's bound to have an impact on compliance.

Football innit. Money talks.

Download Festival was on last weekend with 10k people camping and no masks or social distancing, great news :)
