We need to learn to live with covid like we do with all other viruses, illnesses and diseases. The elderly and high risk are vaccinated… that was the goal, remember?! Like Hancock said, we will cry freedom when the over 70s are vaccinated!

There is no reason for mass testing when the young and healthy get covid mildly. My child is in tears yet again because she isn’t allowed to go to school for 10 days. A few students in her year group tested positive and all students are forced to be locked in their homes… again.

Are the sick?! No. Half have no symptoms. The others have a slight fever and feel a little tired.

This isn’t fair. This isn’t healthy. This isn’t sane. This is harmful and destructive to children. An entire generation has been betrayed. For what exactly? Over a virus which does not affect them. Over fear. Over people being immensely risk-averse. Over loss of control and people can’t take it.

It is time we live our lives and get back to normal before it’s too late. If our children hold us accountable and never forgive us, I will completely understand. We have not stood-up for them. Instead, we cowered in fear not giving a hoot about the collateral damage all these restrictions have caused. Shame on us.

What’s everyone doing with their unused masks?
Someone said ..send them to Boris with ‘I’m done’. written on them .
👍

shewalkslikerihanna · 21/06/2021 12:26

I’d have to go and buy some 😂
I’ve never had any.

MarshaBradyo · 21/06/2021 12:26

@tappitytaptap

People are perpetuating this themselves by doing lateral flow tests. Just bloody stop!
I know but here we are day 7 if bloody isolation due to staff LFT

Sometimes it gets you anyway

NotSoLongGoodbye · 21/06/2021 12:27

@Blessex
yes the hypocrisy is staggering. So much for education being the number one priority / keeping schools open - clearly only when it suits

Blessex · 21/06/2021 12:31

@NotSoLongGoodbye we still live in a mans world. Football clearly rools. Mums and kids not so much.

Blessex · 21/06/2021 12:47

The Scottish and English football associations remained in talks with Public Health England this morning regarding close contacts of Gilmour, but none have been identified. An SFA spokesman said: 'The Scottish FA can confirm that a member of the Scotland national team playing squad, Billy Gilmour, has tested positive for Covid-19

Ah no close contacts despite video of him playing table tennis the day before with his team mates and hugging on the pitch wearing no mask. That’s alright then. And we still keep doing LFT and pulling our kids out of school. What mugs we mums are. Get it now?

Roonerspismed · 21/06/2021 12:48

Stop testing. Stop PCR testing. Just stop

“As a matter of fact my child spends the majority of winter in a 4 walled hospital room and doesn't get on like a complete fucking arsehole as a result meanwhile all the precious kids on this can't cope with 10 days in their bloody houses.”

🙄 it hasn’t been just 10 days. Lockdown 1.0 was March 2020. There is NO country in the world where 1000s of children have died. Sweden never closed their schools. Children weren’t dropping like flies!
America has 370 million people and the states that didn’t lockdown don’t even have children deaths in the double digits!
No countries in the world? 1,300 in Brazil up to April. It'll be much more now.

Brazil is a different to the UK, it could many reasons babies are getting sick.

Taken from another thread

Steve Turner, Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health registrar and consultant paediatrician at Royal Aberdeen Children’s hospital, said, “As it stands there are very few children in hospital in Scotland and across the whole of the UK due to covid. We’re not seeing any evidence of an increase in paediatric admissions with covid. A very small number of admissions who test positive for covid is what we’d expect.

“Our experience over the last 15 months is that many children who test positive have come into hospital for something else, like broken bones. At the moment the situation in the UK is stable. The number of children in hospital with covid remains very low.”

Blessex · 21/06/2021 13:10

@Baileysforchristmas please stop being so sensible and dampening the scaremongering now coming from Brazil - a completely different country to here Grin

Baileysforchristmas · 21/06/2021 13:22

😊 I know I’m so mad for all the young mums out there, I’m on a mission.

helpmebeanadult · 21/06/2021 13:29

Genuine question - for people like the poster where the school sent home pcrs for the family, yet didn't do them, why?

NotSoLongGoodbye · 21/06/2021 13:37

We have done PCRs when requested to do so as close contact or if we have had symptoms.

I would not do lateral flow tests as these are designed to pick up asymptotic people - my issue with them is that (a) they aren't terribly reliable and positive results have to be confirmed by a PCR (b) the restrictions should be based on numbers of people getting seriously ill / dying from Covid - not based on numbers of asymptomatic people who aren't ill (c) the vulnerable are now vaccinated if they wish to be (d) we don't test randomly for any other viral illnesses that can be equally dangerous in certain circumstances (e) we need to normalise Covid now as yet another respiratory illness

Baileysforchristmas · 21/06/2021 13:39

@helpmebeanadult I did whole thread about it. 14 pages long.

AliceLivesHere · 21/06/2021 13:42

Still have one child isolated.

We do LFT every other day. We do PCR as told. Negative every time, still have to isolate though

Baileysforchristmas · 21/06/2021 13:46

It’s the unfairness of it, the same who test regularly are the same people who have to keep isolating, not everyone test so they carry on about there day. Unless everyone does it, the cycle will never end

Blessex · 21/06/2021 13:52

@helpmebeanadult I also threw the pcrs from the school in the bin. Many reasons. We have all had Covid. I have been double vaccinated. None of us have symptoms. I have just been abroad and done 5 negative tests. It is invasive, unnecessary and not mandatory.

helpmebeanadult · 21/06/2021 14:00

Thanks. @Baileysforchristmas would you mind linking to it so I don't derail this thread?

olivethegreat · 21/06/2021 15:40

That's really interesting thought re stop testing. You're right, it's just the hospital numbers that matter now .

I actually ordered some more LF tests as we had run out, and have had a pcr test included as they want to check the accuracy of LF ones! So that's two tests simultaneously !

baffledcoconut · 21/06/2021 15:53

I agree too. This is madness. Already the papers are saying how awful the winter will be. JUST FUCK OFF WITH IT.

I’m done.

Arrowheart · 21/06/2021 16:47
@Baileysforchristmas I totally agree re FIFA it’s an absolute joke. Football is clearly exempt from coronavirus. You can’t sing at a wedding but it’s fine if it’s football?!?! How can we take any of this seriously when that’s all over the news and considered ok?
This is exactly the reason why it is a shambles and a joke. One rule for football and the rest of us testing and isolating like idiots (because that is how we are being treated).

MercyBooth · 21/06/2021 17:03

Channel 5 news saying more lockdowns could be needed this winter because of Covid AND flu.

pucelleauxblanchesmains · 21/06/2021 17:04

"Imagine having a 19 yo DD who has been bedbound for 13 months from Covid and has been diagnosed with severe depression and PTSD" I had severe depression before the pandemic and have spent much of it suicidal because I couldn't cope with the isolation and fear, so don't try guilt tripping

Feels like the idea that we’re just going to be in and out of lockdowns for the foreseeable to “prevent hospitals being overwhelmed” is probably going to lead to a deep resentment towards the NHS that the tories will exploit to espouse the benefits of private healthcare
