We need to learn to live with covid like we do with all other viruses, illnesses and diseases. The elderly and high risk are vaccinated… that was the goal, remember?! Like Hancock said, we will cry freedom when the over 70s are vaccinated!

There is no reason for mass testing when the young and healthy get covid mildly. My child is in tears yet again because she isn’t allowed to go to school for 10 days. A few students in her year group tested positive and all students are forced to be locked in their homes… again.

Are the sick?! No. Half have no symptoms. The others have a slight fever and feel a little tired.

This isn’t fair. This isn’t healthy. This isn’t sane. This is harmful and destructive to children. An entire generation has been betrayed. For what exactly? Over a virus which does not affect them. Over fear. Over people being immensely risk-averse. Over loss of control and people can’t take it.

It is time we live our lives and get back to normal before it’s too late. If our children hold us accountable and never forgive us, I will completely understand. We have not stood-up for them. Instead, we cowered in fear not giving a hoot about the collateral damage all these restrictions have caused. Shame on us.

Ireland has had a far longer and harder lockdown for one....

GoingBackTo505 · 20/06/2021 21:12

Couldn't agree with you more.

chaosrabbitland · 20/06/2021 21:13

i do agree , my 12 dd has just had the last 10 days of because of 2 positve tests in her year group , i got told i had to get here a prc test and send in the results to the school before she returned , cue note of horror in receptionists voice when i informed her she wasnt going to be getting tested when she asked me if i hadnt been getting her to do the lateral flow ones , no i said never have and wont be either . of she shows symtoms of covid i will keep her off naturally ,but im not subjecting her to a swabs constantly and thats that . now they are focusing on school children for vaccination when they are the group least bloody affected and everybody else that can be vaccinated soon will be it just beggars belief really .

@frumpety

I hope the March will be massive! However, the MSM, especially the BBC will never cover it. They just say “hundreds showed up to protest” when last time there were 10s of thousands.

Here we go, the MSM have covered all of the big London marches, regardless of what you would like to think, the vast majority of the rest of the 67 million people who live in the UK just thought 'knobs' , but were just too polite and distracted by normal life to hunt you all down and write it on your doors. They still think it though.

Yes, British good manners has held up well. Come online being a knob, and people will tell you that you are a knob, though. HTH, OP.

@covidandborisandworld

I know of two separate children that have lost parents.

They are in their teens and one was adopted

So I have to say we are protecting children I'm afraid. Even if doing so seems unpalatable.

Well that example must be 1/10,000 chance if it happening…..

Awful for those poor kids but no where near a true representation of reality.

Flyonawalk · 20/06/2021 21:15

A PP mentioned that a protest is planned for June 26th. When and where?

There is a protest due in London tomorrow, June 21st (the original promised freedom day!), 11am outside parliament.

It is being planned by the National Alliance for Freedom from Lockdowns.

There may be details on their Facebook page, though their last ten posts about it have been taken down.

Omg, thousands of children would have died?! You really don’t follow the data do you? This virus is minuscule to children. Influenza is more deadly! Have you locked-up your kid every winter??
You really are something else.

Thousands did not die because the thousands of children at risk of death from covid have been shielding alongside their families for more than a god damn year.

As a matter of fact my child spends the majority of winter in a 4 walled hospital room and doesn't get on like a complete fucking arsehole as a result meanwhile all the precious kids on this can't cope with 10 days in their bloody houses.

This is why I say these children have far more to offer society in years to come than many individuals on this thread.

TheKeatingFive · 20/06/2021 21:16

Well that example must be 1/10,000 chance if it happening

Surely far smaller odds even than that as deaths of under 45s are absolutely minuscule and the climb is very slow until 60ish.

HazeyJaneII · 20/06/2021 21:18

Everyone I know, and this includes all children have been offered to vaccinated by now.

This is not true.

I am deregistering now, because these arguments are utterly pointless and depressing.

jumpbounce · 20/06/2021 21:18

@Oblomov21

This is fucking bullshit Mn style about CEV children aswell.

Everyone I know, and this includes all children have been offered to vaccinated by now.

Can you forward us the details please because many of us with CEV children are absolutely desperate to have our children vaccinated and if its being done we want to know how and where (amongst the large groups of people with CEV children we know only a couple over 12 years old have been done very recently with the first jab in the last couple of weeks since the vaccine was given approval in that age category)

We have damaged the lives of millions to protect the lives of thousands. If you or your loved one is amongst the thousands, it probably feels worth it - I can see you might think there is no sacrifice too great for them. But similarly, can you see if you and everyone you care about is in the millions who have had their lives damaged to protect strangers, it might seem not worth it?

ChequerBoard · 20/06/2021 21:18

Everyone knows the UK had and has the longest and strictest lockdown. First in Europe! World beating! And you know why? It’s because of people like you who are complacent and don’t question a thing. Who have so much fear instilled in them that they want to make sure others are equally as fearful.
Lockdown wasn't what you were spouting about though - you said UK was the only country imposing travel restrictions and quarantine.

You were wrong but won't admit it.

Plus ca change!

Baileysforchristmas · 20/06/2021 21:19

It’s funny how mums and children are being made feel guilty on here for not wanting children to be held under house arrest and we will kill parents and other children, when other people in society are exempt to the rules

Indeed they have, except on marches or protests where there have been incidents not in keeping with 'British' good manners Grin

@HazeyJaneII

Agree! Covid has become a cult. These people don’t care if you’re not wearing a mask. They care that you’re being disobedient. It’s all about being authoritative and controlling. If I’m following the rules, YOU have to follow the rules. If I don’t travel, YOU shouldn’t travel. It’s evil in my opinion.

What a load of hyperbolic crap. You're going to need to condense it if your going to fit it on a cardboard placard at the next 'freedom' march

Or better yet, just ignore them and crack on with your life. Do whatever you need to do to facilitate that.

House arrest! Evil! Jesus H. Christ, what utter crapola.

Has anyone mentioned communism yet? Me, I am just happy that so many people are talking about communism in 2021. It's much better than I could have envisaged back in 1990.

🙄 it hasn’t been just 10 days. Lockdown 1.0 was March 2020. There is NO country in the world where 1000s of children have died. Sweden never closed their schools. Children weren’t dropping like flies!
America has 370 million people and the states that didn’t lockdown don’t even have children deaths in the double digits!
