We need to learn to live with covid like we do with all other viruses, illnesses and diseases. The elderly and high risk are vaccinated… that was the goal, remember?! Like Hancock said, we will cry freedom when the over 70s are vaccinated!

There is no reason for mass testing when the young and healthy get covid mildly. My child is in tears yet again because she isn’t allowed to go to school for 10 days. A few students in her year group tested positive and all students are forced to be locked in their homes… again.

Are the sick?! No. Half have no symptoms. The others have a slight fever and feel a little tired.

This isn’t fair. This isn’t healthy. This isn’t sane. This is harmful and destructive to children. An entire generation has been betrayed. For what exactly? Over a virus which does not affect them. Over fear. Over people being immensely risk-averse. Over loss of control and people can’t take it.

It is time we live our lives and get back to normal before it’s too late. If our children hold us accountable and never forgive us, I will completely understand. We have not stood-up for them. Instead, we cowered in fear not giving a hoot about the collateral damage all these restrictions have caused. Shame on us.

@BonnieDundee spot on, my daughter’s not testing anymore, I don’t do T&T, I don’t wear a mask anymore, nobody says anything, I have family visit most days, I’m out and about to restaurants with family and friends. I now just need to book a holiday.

My children would think it was a dream to only have to stay in their house for 10 days. They were at home for longer than a year, only recently returned to school due to one of them being CEV. These children are now back in school while rates are very low in our area but if we decide that its OK to allow covid to just keep running through schools those CEV children and their siblings will never be able to attend? So school is only for healthy kids now?

For years in various situations in schools children haven't been able to attend if unwell, when my eldest was in preschool there was a child who was having treatment that suppressed their immune system and we weren't allowed to send our children in if at all unwell to allow that little one to have a chance. It worked well and infact it led to hardly any of the children ever needing to be off because viruses and sickness wasn't spreading around school in the first place.

COVID doesn't care about time or what 'the people' think.

Also, fuck the protests, quite frankly, they're full of conspiracy theorists who blame 5G/Soros/whoever, are against vaccines and harass and abuse people wearing masks. I'm not going to stop wearing one just because some dild with a sign screams at me.

No Covid isn’t sentient so no it doesn’t

But MPs etc do. So it’ll be a balance.

RoundersGarden · 20/06/2021 20:40

I agree 100% with you OP. I wish you had turned on voting to see more clearly which side people are on.

I am in a community where there has been almost complete adherence to the rules since March 2020. Everyone I speak to now says they will never comply with the rules the way they did again.

The turn up and down the public's fear levels. I've willingly taken part in that ride but no longer. I will prioritise socialising and will act in the best interest of my family and family alone. We haven't seen our family since August 2019 as they live in another European country and we won't see them this summer either as the testing costs are beyond our ability to pay. Within the UK, we will socialise and disregard arbitrary rules. We've paid our due and that's that.

Twintwix · 20/06/2021 20:41

Totally agree OP. There are some hysterical people out there who love branding anyone who doesn't want to sacrifice their life and lifestyle for Covid as irresponsible and selfish. Those with critical thought can see the utter bulls this is.

SweetsMum3 · 20/06/2021 20:41

@mam0918

The vulnerable are vaccinated! The obese, the over 80s and those with severe comorbidity are at risk. What else do you want?

Privileged? Lockdowns have destroyed lives and livelihoods.

I eat healthy, workout 3x per week and I’m not overweight. This virus doesn’t scare me, however the reaction has. My life has been turned upside down over a virus with an IFR of 0.3%. Millions of lives have been turned upside down NOT by the virus but by these nonsensical and harmful government interventions.

I know of two separate children that have lost parents.

They are in their teens and one was adopted

So I have to say we are protecting children I'm afraid. Even if doing so seems unpalatable.

I live in an identical community, very high adherence. Socially distanced queuing outside shops. Everyone l speak to will carry on complying to whatever is required.

SweetsMum3 · 20/06/2021 20:45

@Twintwix

Agree! Covid has become a cult. These people don’t care if you’re not wearing a mask. They care that you’re being disobedient. It’s all about being authoritative and controlling. If I’m following the rules, YOU have to follow the rules. If I don’t travel, YOU shouldn’t travel. It’s evil in my opinion.

Children who are medically vulnerable are not vaccinated.
Your life is not the only life that matters.

SweetsMum3 · 20/06/2021 20:47

@RoundersGarden

That’s really hard. The UK are the only ones making these ridiculous rules, ie testing 3x to travel, mandatory 10 day quarantine. It’s awful.

OP posts:
Baileysforchristmas · 20/06/2021 20:50

@CovidCorvid I’m sorry that threat has gone, most children’s parents are vaccinated. I won’t be sticking to the rules anymore, I’m not scared of long Covid for me or my daughter, I don’t worry about my parents getting ill as they are double vaccinated, there is no gain in sticking to the rules, yes the virus can spread, the numbers will go up but that will happen anyway as football supporters are traveling without testing or isolating, flights are still coming into the country, fifa have already said they won’t isolate when they come here, so it will be spreading anyway.

What a load of hyperbolic crap. You're going to need to condense it if your going to fit it on a cardboard placard at the next 'freedom' march

SweetsMum3 · 20/06/2021 20:52

@Lucifersladylove

My life is not the only life that matters? You do realize that 70 million people live in this country? Every life has been effected.
Children get this virus so mildly. A very very small percentage of children died with covid and they were extremely ill, as per Chris Whitty(your god). We can not keep healthy and innocent people and children locked in their homes for the very few. Secondly, there’s no evidence that these measures even work!

More bollocks. Many EU countries require quarantine if arriving from countries with variants of concern including Estonia, Germany and Iceland.

Stop making stuff up to fit your agenda:

Also I really wish people would stop perpetuating false numbers, the IFR is not 0.3%. Simple maths proves that.

SweetsMum3 · 20/06/2021 20:55

@ChequerBoard

Everyone knows the UK had and has the longest and strictest lockdown. First in Europe! World beating! And you know why? It’s because of people like you who are complacent and don’t question a thing. Who have so much fear instilled in them that they want to make sure others are equally as fearful.

OP posts:
SweetsMum3 · 20/06/2021 20:56

SOME children. My child would probably die. Or does her life not count because she has a medical condition? In her 11 years on this planet that child has suffered things that should make you ashamed of your whining about not being able to go on holiday.
Chris Whitty is not my god, my daughters oncology team and respiratory team are my gods and they all say the same. The measures work, without them the NHS would have crumbled under poor leadership.
So yes, your life is not the only one that matters.

Good for you

My 4 year old eats healthy, isn't overweight and is not over 80 and is CEV. Those children don't matter though however I can assure you they will provide much more to society in the future than some of the individuals on this thread. There is thousands more children like this around the country.

I agree op People have been standing up but the fear that was ramped up far more than was necessary haas made the opposition far more vociferous.

It’s an awful legacy.

I truly sympathise and I hope the March next week in london on the 26th is well supported.
I hope all the angry people get out there and shout for freedom and our children.

MarshaBradyo · 20/06/2021 20:59
