Not sure how Boris can stand up tonight and ask us to wait 'just another few weeks' after his antics this weekend.

Nor after seeing the scenes at countless pubs where people were celebrating the footy results

I'm 100% done now

@Flyonawalk

Surely allowing 22,000 people into Wembley to watch the Euros makes a nonsense of any restrictions.

I think even the most compliant will start to question the sanity of all this.

12,000 at Hampden today for the Scotland gig, plus thousands more allowed at a designated viewing park. Only a couple of weeks ago, folk were being asked to not travel in or out of Glasgow. It’s quite the miracle how safe everything suddenly is when there’s commercial investment involved and I’m absolutely done. What’s with this narrative that we’re waiting to enable the 20 somethings to get the vaccine, as a quid pro quo to reopening the very places they want to go (nightclubs, music events etc) and presumably won’t go to if they were seriously unwell? What next, probably covid tests on entry to nightclubs regardless of the vaccine, so why would they bother getting it? 🤷‍♀️

If you come up against a bully boy , quote the 2010 equality act to them and say that do they realise if harassed you can take them to court and they can be fined up to £9000

If you have a legit medical exemption, then do this.

If you don't have a legit medical exemption, and you do this anyway, you are not only cowardly (stand up for your convictions, if you don't think people should have to be masked! don't hide behind a fake exemption!) but you are also abelist, and a jerk. Able people claiming that they have a disability makes things much more difficult for people who are actually disabled.

Its90minutestonight · 14/06/2021 13:23

Behaviour of the G7 outdoors was in line with current guidelines.

June2021 · 14/06/2021 13:24

@sparemonitor

There are always selfish idiots who claim an exemption. Almost no-one is genuinely exempt. Useful that people announce in one go that they are a) dim and b) selfish.
So people that claim an exemption are in your opinion dim and selfish because you declare that:

"almost no-one is genuinely exempt" - how do you know - just be looking is it?

Glad you aren't in charge. Your declaration just outed you as dim.

CookieClub · 14/06/2021 13:24

@Phatpheasant

Feeling done with it all and actually being done with it all are very different things though. You can feel done all you like but unless you force a priest to marry a couple and force a venue to accept more than 30 people, realistically what are you going to do about it. And stopping wearing masks- good for you, be a dick and place others at risk. Want to put yourself at a risk you feel is acceptable is one thing, placing others at risk who have no choice about that is a different one.
How does it place others at risk? If the ones wanting to wear masks are wearing masks - with the absolute belief that they work and will protect them - and people are distancing anyway...how does Joe Bloggs not wearing a mask directly affect a mask wearer?
Its90minutestonight · 14/06/2021 13:25

And they were at work, not a social gathering.

youshallnotpass9 · 14/06/2021 13:26

@JediGnot

And no blame at all towards a government that didn't put India on the red list for 3 weeks? Who keep moving the goal posts?

Its the public thats 100% at fault?

They wore masks pre-covid? Surgeons wear masks so they don't get my internal organs and juice in their airways..nothing to do with covid!

But with regard to covid, it wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

What amuses me is this them vs us divide - the general public would be shocked at the amount of NHS workers & key workers that haven't had the vax, don't see the need for the masks etc.

I have no care if anyone treating me is vaccinated, or pro-mask - in the same sense I wouldn't care if they're HIV positive. Literally no-one elses business.

My son works in the operating theatres
Loads of surgeons saying they won’t touch the vax with a barge pole
He’s not been vaxed, lots of nhs co workers havent as you said

Of those 12 - how many are the average age of 82 for covid deaths with multiple other illnesses - how many of them died 'with covid' rather than 'from covid'.

It's all rather over the top now - more than 12 people died of a lot of other things the same day. It's not all about covid. Others things matter too.

Pyewackect · 14/06/2021 13:27

#ImDone. Me too. I served 12 months in an ICU Covid Read Zone and I'm not going back, nor are an increasing number of my colleagues.

MummyPop00 · 14/06/2021 13:28

Masks are a pain the arse for all the aforementioned reasons. Negotiating London’s Tube complete with stairs in 30c heat with masks on deprives people of oxygen. I’ve felt lightheaded & dizzy on several occasions.

And for what exactly?

If masks worked, why, with x% now vaccinated are cases of Covid not showing clearer signs of tailing off?

TopBitchoftheWitches · 14/06/2021 13:28

It's people like you who are putting mine and my colleagues lives at risk. So selfish.

ItscoldinAlaska · 14/06/2021 13:29

I think we should all wait for the research on waning antibodies to be published before saying 'I'm done' tbh. It's just a social media hashtag, with very little meaning behind it.

I trust statements from people in the background who are doing the researching, publishing the papers, checking and testing how the disease behaves, how it transmits, is controlled and treated and how it variates. I am reading publications from the people who brought us the vaccine, organised a mass vaccination programme in an effective way and who have watched and studied this pandemic from the beginning. Anyone else is showboating. And a hashtag on twitter is part of that.

pennylane83 · 14/06/2021 13:30

but ultimately with hospitalisation up 15%

Yes but is this people requiring ventilators for weeks at a time who then sadly lose their life anyway or is it being admitted to hospital and discharged again in a day or two. There is a difference and simply counting the number of people being admitted means nothing without context.

And yes, I'm aware that an increase in patient numbers being admitted to hospital puts pressure on the NHS but that is a funding issue and not a public health, everyone is at danger of dying OF covid if we continue to let it circulate therefore restrictions must stay in place scenario.

Given that we all know we are going to have to live alongside covid now (and the effects of long covid for some), the fact that the government hasn't, in 18 months, pre-empted the need to increase bed capacity and funnel extra funding into hospitals to help achieve this and ease the issues going forward (rather than chucking the money at everything else) then there wouldn't be a need for keeping restrictions in place.

ErykahBaddy · 14/06/2021 13:30

What is the "I'm done" thing to? I don't live in the UK and I thought there weren't many restrictions in place any more? What is the thing everyone is actually saying they're done with? Masks indoors?

CallMeCleo · 14/06/2021 13:32

@Workyticket

"I'm 100% done now"

I was done a year ago.

I knew if we waited long enough the rest of you would eventually join us.

I didn't realise that retail workers were dying in huge numbers or seriously ill at present. Surely the CEV or older retail workers have had the vaccine now?

Op says he/she is done with the restrictions. You say that they are putting your life at risk - seriously I mean people are so over the top now.

Annie, you are talking utter ROT.

The government's ruling on masks makes NO MENTION of a person having to be "actually disabled", nor that they must have a "legit medical exemption" that is proveable (ie. by medical records at a GP).

Again we have someone quoting a law or guidance that simply does not exist!

Go and read the guidance and law before shooting your mouth off here!

The key workers I know wear full PPE and have had the vaccination.

That's around 29%, (rounded up) which is fairly significant surely?

Wherediditgo · 14/06/2021 13:39

I’m sat here feeling like absolute shite after taking a vaccine I didn’t want, for a disease that I would be statistically highly unlikely to suffer badly from.

My MH is in fucking ruins.

I’m definitely done.

givemushypeasachance · 14/06/2021 13:40

On 6 May the seven day case rate (per 100,000) in the UK was averaging out at 20. A week later on 13 May it was 22. On 20 May it was 24. On 27 May it was 30. On 3 June it was 46. The latest date the charts show is 8 June, not even a full week later, and the rate was 65. Average case rates have more than tripled in a month.

No one can deny that cases are going up, and it's the usual exponential growth story - the daily case rate is doubling every 10-14 days. Hopefully with vaccination of the most vulnerable, less people will die. We need longer to get proper data to see how many deaths will come from the delta cases. But in the shorter term, we can see about 5% of cases lead to hospitalisation. So if you're at 50,000 new cases a day, which could be just a few weeks away with the doubling (7,500 yesterday would be 60,000 in six weeks) that's 2,500 new hospital admissions a day. Not sustainable.

LadyPoison · 14/06/2021 13:40

I'm done too.

I am entitled to claim a mask exemption which I haven't taken advantage off but from now on I will be.

The NHS has been "saved" but we are still not being allowed a normal life and I fully expect the July 19th will be pushed back as well. SAGE is having far too much fun being in control.
