BoJo and Co haven't actually broken any rules, though. You can meet in groups larger than 30 if it's work related (including meal breaks). It's really horrible that you can't do the exact same thing for a wedding, but, ultimately, weddings aren't as much of a priority as allowing people to work.
I hope that the 30 people rule will be scrapped for weddings (have heard it might be), but ultimately with hospitalisation up 15%, a few more weeks is not the worst thing that could happen when the restrictions are currently so few. I'd rather a few more weeks now than another full lockdown later.
Given that there are many vulnerable people who are unvaccinated (including children), great swathes of people who haven't been able to get a vaccine yet (including children who are more affected by this variant), and uncertainty about how effective this vaccine is against the Delta strain, I think BoJo has (for once) made the right decision to delay lifting all restrictions just yet.
I wish we were done with this, but, sadly, we're not. Everyone should make a choice about their own risks re: vaccines, family/friends social distancing etc, but you have to remeber that you're also making the choice for those around you when you break some of the rules (social distancing in public, not wearing a mask etc) and by doing so, you're risking their lives, health and livelihood with no idea of the concequences.
