Do you think they will extend the lockdown or stick with 21st June As Freedom day?

I hope they don't extend, because it moves the goalposts and then could lead to another extension. As it optional to go to certain places like clubs, when they open, then people vaccinated or not can make their choice.

I sadly think they will extend it and ruin my party planned for the end of June.

Boo hoo 21st June... My heart bleeds... Ashamed to be BRITISH when I read some of this tripe. Selfish selfish selfish

Spelling mistakes I apologise for...

@PurpleDaisies

Johnson has boxed himself into a corner by announcing that the public inquiry will start in less than a year.

He’s boxed himself in by banging on about the road map being irreversible. He almost has to be super cautious now because politically it would be so awkward to go backwards.

Agreed.

@Malteser71
Would you care to print which Hospital you work at, or the relative you claim to have at that hospital and why you think your claims should be believed? Don’t try distract from your own pack of lies by slagging others off. Have reported your post.

user1477391263 · 08/06/2021 03:21

I think they'll half.arse it by relaxing some things but not all

This.

Watapalava · 08/06/2021 17:33

Actually lady, you name the hospital since you tried scaremongering saying a lancs hospital ITU is over run with under 40s

Bullshit

Most my mates are nhs and work across a range of lancs hospitals and they’re all dead

Name and let’s see

Malteser71 · 08/06/2021 23:37

Quite. Come on, which hospital?

Pick from a list.

Royal Preston?
Southport?
RAEI?
Chorley?
Bolton Gen?
Blackpool Vic?
Rochdale?
Oldham?
Lancaster?

BonnieDundee · 08/06/2021 23:59

If people had followed the rules we would be ok but they havent

The public followed the rules much more than expected. Scientists and medics have acknowledged this so why people keep trotting out this line I don't knowHmm

Torvean · 09/06/2021 00:08

If BoJo wasn't so useless you'd be in a better place. England should not be managed as a whole.

If he had followed the WHO protocol you'd be more aware of the position you are in every day. Not having to guess from bbc / papers/SM etc etc

Opentooffers · 09/06/2021 02:05

Unbelievable, that some would potentially goad an NHS worker into comprising themselves, potentially losing their job due to breach of confidentiality on a public forum. For what? So that you can at best come to realise that, although there may be fewer cases where you live, there are real problems in other areas.
Just be concerned that if it's bad in any area away from yourself, it could only be a matter of time before it comes to your own areas. What is required is collective understanding for the trauma and pressure that some areas are under. Not a, it's not so bad where I am, so others must be lying attitude.
Teatering on burnout, would be accurate for many NHS workers. No surprise, the news today.

Watapalava · 09/06/2021 07:13

Open

the reason we are asking is shes talking rubbish about Lnacashire hospitals in OUR area - we know they are not over run as they are local to us - not over run with any age groups so her stating that hospitals are full of 30/40s is scaremongering for effect. Its not true and we know it. Bullshit posts like that have to be challenged.

Watapalava · 09/06/2021 07:14

and shes not nhs

its a friend - or friend of a friend of a friend ....

Malteser71 · 09/06/2021 08:50

Challenging scaremongering bullshit.

And she reported my post for some reason, and mn deleted it.

The poster does NOT work for the NHS. She says she’s got a ‘friend who is a charge nurse.’

I challenged this because some of us actually do work in the NHS. And the issue with coming online and posting scaremongering bullshit is that the person often doesn’t reckon on coming across people who have access to the actual information they are bullshitting about.

She’s telling us that a hospital in Lancashire is over run with young covid patients in ITU because her friend told her so.

I’m challenging her to tell us which hospital her ‘friend’ is referring to.

Yes this, why are people still spouting this absolute bullshit.
Malteser71 · 09/06/2021 09:02

Because MN is full of anonymous bullshitters

Bedsheets4knickers · 09/06/2021 09:02

I really hope they don't . People are getting married and the rule of 30 just won't work for most .

murbblurb · 09/06/2021 09:29

No, people are having big parties. Getting married requires two participants, a celebrant and two witnesses. That's five.

TheKeatingFive · 09/06/2021 09:31

Getting married requires two participants, a celebrant and two witnesses. That's five.

Pre Covid, the numbers of people having these kinds of wedding were absolutely tiny. It’s very far from a normal expectation.

Well they shouldn’t be dead, there’s a huge backlog to treat. We’re much busier than usual for this time of year.

Our hospital only becomes ‘dead’ when we’ve had to clear out a lot of patients to create space for the covid ones or to convert more wards to red wards.

If all your friends hospitals in Lancs are dead, there’s probably a reason for that.

Malteser71 · 09/06/2021 12:39

Or taking it literally, the mates are the ones who are dead...!

BingBangBong1 · 09/06/2021 13:43

I feel so sorry for people in this situation, no idea if they can go ahead. I heard it's something like 50,000 weddings are booked for the month after 21st June, the majority within the first week A good mate of mine is on her 3rd date. Due to get married the last week of June and she is in bits. I personally can't see any reason why they can't but it seems the government are utterly clueless. I get travel. I don't get weddings, not when schools are open and so are pubs, cinemas and huge sportive events
IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 09/06/2021 18:55

@murbblurb

Exactly.

Personally I wouldn’t have delayed and done just that if I wanted to take my vows. If a partner wanted to delay and delay to have a party or their big day then I’m not sure I would be getting married in the first instance. Marriage is about so much more.

shetlandponies · 09/06/2021 19:05

@IceCreamAndCandyfloss

I to hope and think it will be extended. There’s plenty of freedom already so we aren’t locked away like before. Local cases are rising and we had dropped to a low rate only a few weeks ago. Cases are rising rapidly and plenty still aren’t vaccinated or only half way through jabs.
You lot who are still screaming for lockdown to be extended make me laugh

Why not just stay at home yourself indefinitely if you love it so much ? Let the rest of us live our lives ! And more importantly let the industries that are being completely destroyed by the lockdown have a fighting chance if they haven't already gone bankrupt

But no fuck all the people who's livelihoods have been absolutely decimated just as long as you're "safe"

You make me sick

Justa47 · 09/06/2021 19:23

@ihatebindweed

Freedom day is a stupid phrase. This is a pandemic which has killed over 3 million ( many more not counted) it like a world war if our time.

Of course they have to delay due to the increased transmission of delta variant and the fact that a month later a significant higher percentage of over 50’s would be two weeks past second dose.

We are lucky to have the freedom of vaccinations building our protection.

The country needs some back bone and BOJo needs to do the right thing. Delay.

All through this he has been late in to lockdowns and too early out. And he wanted to go to I did to be the big I am with Modi. Delayed India res listing for three weeks then it was all cancelled ( his trip) and I. The meantime we got a lot of delay variant by people bending the rules.

So BOJo utterly to blame. And it must be delayed and freedom day sort of mocks the sacrifice people have made.
